It was also pouring unexpectedly but that's no ones fault, obviously. The venue was clean but acoustics does make average conversation sound loud that I had trouble hearing the person next to me or the bartenders. I did the non reserve wine sampling which allotted 5 samples for $10. Many of which were made on property with Missouri wines and some west coast offerings. I tend to go for sweeter wines and found my selection to be quite palatable with two standouts as my favorite with the Schitts and Giggles and Lauren's Sweet Vignoles. I really would've preferred the tasting to be separate from the big room and more intimate as to learn more about the wine. Once poured, I was largely left alone standing at the bar where they only offer the sampling and so I felt a little awkward. One gentleman poured rather large portions while the other gave the appropriate amount. A water chaser would've been ideal between both to cleanse the palate. I do think a more intimate setting for sampling is preferred so I am not competing with the rest of the room and I am able to ask questions. The bartenders poured and left and you were on your own!

The flowers were delivered but they missed the second arrangement for the podium. My dad was already upset considering the event so I tried to call the florist to inquire. It was a Sunday and the shop was closed. We had to display a different arrangement that was sent by family friends but it didn't match what we ordered. In general, the flowers arrangements were pretty but the quality of flowers were just ok and they weren't as full as expected. We also noticed some were already brown on the edges at the wake-day of delivery. I feel like they didn't use the freshest flowers. The arrangement on the tripod was much smaller than displayed in the photo book and had lots of welted flowers. We also paid $215 for that arrangement and it wasn't nearly as full as the picture in the book they showed us. Overall, disappointed. I did reach out on Monday and the shop employee was apologetic and issued a partial refund to my dad for the missing arrangement. Not happy that we had to reach out, instead of the shop, to inquire about our missing flower order. Not sure if adding to the order caused confusion. Wasn't given any type of reason but also didn't care by that point.

After about 15 minutes, one of the people working there came over to us and began giving us directions on how to work with the clay and a few utensils they had to use on the clay. When I asked for examples of what we could do, they really had no examples, and he pointed to work that was on the shelves that other people had done. It was very frustrating. We felt like little kids given some play doh. So we were supposed to get a call when our projects were done, no phone call. I finally called and our projects had been done a couple weeks prior. When I went to pick them up, they were on a shelf outside the studio, so I had no interaction with anybody when I went to pick our projects up. I would not suggest anyone go to this studio. They run it like a kids play doh class??

I honestly could not taste much of the truffle seasoning. We really enjoyed the Smoked chicken wings and the Figgy Smalls Pizza which I highly recommended. The pizza did not come out at the same time as the other food. In fact it took quite a bit of time to get them. The B&B is around 150 years old and has 3 rooms - we stayed in Suite #2, which also has a sauna. The owners, Lynn and Bob, are very friendly and so hospitable. We felt welcomed from the instant we pulled into the drive. The breakfast the next morning was amazing: a wonderful fruit assortment, caramel sticky buns, and a mouth watering egg strata. I also appreciated their flexibility in easily accommodating my vegetarian diet. Apple Gate Inn is also within a block of the Katy Trail and a stone's throw from Augusta Brewing Co.
