My husband and I stayed at Apple Gate Inn in March 2011. We are from St. Louis and were using a gift certificate we received over the holidays. The B&B is around 150 years old and has 3 rooms - we stayed in Suite #2, which also has a sauna. The owners, Lynn and Bob, are very friendly and so hospitable. We felt welcomed from the instant we pulled into the drive. The breakfast the next morning was amazing: a wonderful fruit assortment, caramel sticky buns, and a mouth watering egg strata. Charming Bed and Breakfast with just the three suites. We saw the other two and were actually happy with our upstairs rooms and particularly the love seat. The whole place is very nicely decorated! Outside there are some tables gathered and would be a lovely place to relax in the evening for non mosquito delicacies. I was only out for a short while but still a lucky sucker got the sweet sweet taste. Breakfast was a real experience. It was such a shame that we had to leave relatively early. The tasty food seemed to just keep coming. It was nice to meet the other guests and the lady who runs the B + B is such a nice enthusiastic person she lifts everyone's spirits! We stayed at the Apple Gate Inn a couple years ago. It was our first experience at a Bed & Breakfast, and as a result it has been the standard by which every B&B we have visited since has been held to. We tried to visit again on our honeymoon, but they were closed for the winter already. Lynn was gracious enough to suggest another Inn in town, which was fantastic, but it sure wasn't the Apple Gate. read more

Stayed at the Applegate Inn on December 7th for the Augusta Christmas Walk. Room was absolutely fabulous and cozy as can be. Breakfast the next morning was off the charts with a home made apple muffin followed by an omelet with fresh cilantro. Owners are gracious and there for whatever you need. I've been to dozens of B&Bs and Apple Gate Inn is wonderful. Very nicely decorated, comfy, hospitable, delicious breakfast, delightful common areas, spacious and very well appointed rooms (even a fragrance bar), outdoor space (balcony, fire pit). Lynn and her husband were extremely gracious and accommodating. I only stayed 1 night for a wedding at a nearby winery, but wish I would have stayed longer. read more

God Love Lynn, her amazing B&B, and the wonderful breakfast she serves! I can't say enough great things about AppleGate Inn, this is the second year my husband and I have stayed for my birthday, and we enjoyed ourselves even more this year than last. Lynn's B&B is just a few steps from the Katy Trail, so I was able to hit the trail each morning for a quick 16 miles before breakfast, and then the hubby and I hit it again in the evening for another 20 or so! Suite 1 is my favorite suite, but all suites are very nice. Lynn always has fresh cookies and candy available, and serves a fantastic (and gigantic) breakfast - Fresh fruit with yogurt, a huge caramel/cinammon sticky bun, and then egg strata - or this year, we had breakfast pizza. Lynn will accommodate you - I asked for just fruit the second morning (I was WAY too full the first morning!) and others asked for gluten free, etc. This is THE only B&B I will stay in when I travel to Augusta. Book early, she fills up quickly!!! I can't wait to return, hopefully before next August! Thank-you again to Lynn and Bob for creating a true home away from home - we miss you! This is a great, historic inn, right off the Katy Trail, a lengthy rail to trail path that crosses much of the state. I highly recommend the upstairs room that is like a small apartment - spacious, beautiful decor, Breakfasts are excellent, and Lynn, the proprietor, is friendly. Be sure, if here on Friday or Saturday, to have dinner at Cafe Bella in Augusta. Have her make a reservation for you - it's easier. Highly recommended! read more

Our stay was excellent! Lynn was a great host for this quaint Inn. We were in suite 3, which was quite large and comfortable. We did not take part in the back patio and fire pit (too much day wine drinking), but it looked nice, and the other guests said it was great. My boyfriend and I stayed here for his birthday weekend and we seriously could not have had a better time. We stayed in suite 2 which was perfectly cozy. We arrived after hiking around Klondike Park (would not recommend, for the record) and were offered iced tea and cookies the minute we walked in the door, which was a nice treat :) In the evening we took advantage of the fire pit out back. What really put this place over the top was the breakfast. If you are looking to spoil somebody on a special occasion take them to the Apple Gate Inn and indulge in Lynn's AMAZING breakfast! There was an abundance of hot, fresh, delicious, perfectly cooked food and the coffee & OJ flowed freely. All of the guests eat breakfast together at the same table - we got lucky and had some great breakfast companions. If we ever get the hankering to do another winery weekend in Augusta we will definitely stay at the Apple Gate Inn again! read more

I cannot say enough great things about our stay at the Applegate Inn! From the get-go, we ran into a friendly, helpful man in town that directed us to the bike shop, and that man was Bob. Bob and Lynn are two of the most welcoming people that I've ever encountered. We went to Augusta to celebrate my boyfriends birthday, bike the Katy Trail, and explore the wineries. After a long day of biking Lynn welcomed us with tea and cookies. Our suite (suite 3) was wonderful! It was spacious and had a little kitchenette as well. The whole Inn was full of historical charm and the bed was the most comfortable bed I had slept in, in ages. The breakfast was delicious, to say the least. We had the best weekend in Augusta, which was largely in part to the Applegate Inn! We will definitely be back to stay again :) read more

For years, my wife and I have wanted to stay at the Apple Gate Inn as we rode the Katy. This past weekend for our anniversary we were lucky enough to get a room. The room we stayed in was Suite 3, and exceeded our expectations! Lynn's attention to detail in every way was noticeable in the tasteful decor, the cleanliness of the room, and the comfort of all the rooms in Suite 3. The breakfast was outstanding--and I'm a self professed foodie and the cook of the family. This is a breakfast that I would serve if I was going to impress--and that's exactly what it did. This is the third B&B we have stayed at in Augusta, and we will never go to another. read more
