Most of the staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant throughout our stay, although one front desk employee was loudly yelling on her phone, which wasn't the best impression. The hotel is older but has clearly been renovated. Our room was clean, and the linens and towels were soft, fresh, and well-maintained. However, there was a noticeable musty smell in the room, which may have been related to a small mold spot on the ceiling. The bathroom also stayed very humid since there isn't an exhaust fan. The location feels convenient, central, and generally safe. That said, the front desk was discussing several car break-ins that had happened the night we checked in, which definitely made us a little uneasy about leaving our vehicle outside. One of the biggest disappointments was the pool. It was closed for most of our stay, and staff told us it was "very dirty and needed to be professionally shocked," so we weren't able to use one of the amenities we were looking forward to. Overall, this hotel is about what you'd expect for around $140 per night. The rooms and amenities reflect the budget-friendly price, you get what you pay for. While I wouldn't completely rule out staying here again, it's unlikely I'd choose it over other hotel brands (Drury, Marriott, etc).

There was some concern that with 14 ladies and only 1.5 bathrooms but we never had a problem. Just enough amenities and items in the house to make you feel at home. The bedroom upstairs is great for nighttime conversations and giggling. We cook 2 meals a day at the house and have our lunches out and about as we wander through Washington, New Haven and Hermann.

The only downside was that the shower was handheld due to the low ceiling in the bathroom. The queen-sized bed was super comfortable- almost missed breakfast since we slept so hard after a long day of winery-hopping. Breakfast is served at 9:30 in the dining room around a large dining room table. We were served a frittata with fresh peppers and tomatoes, strips of bacon, fruit cup, crumpets, and muffins. There is fresh coffee, a large selection of tea, and orange juice served with breakfast. Coffee, tea, and water are all available throughout your stay in the communal area. There is a spacious deck overlooking the wide open garden. The humming birds were always flying around, so great bird watching. Separate seating areas allow for privacy if you dot want to interact with the other guests. There was also a fire pit in the garden area, but we did not opt to use during our stay. The hot tub was not functioning during our stay, but they do plan to replace soon.

I woke to a wonderful service of hot coffee outside my door. A delicious and nutritious breakfast, with fruit and vegetables fresh from the farmers market was served in the private patio garden. As a woman traveling alone, I took great comfort knowing that the owners are on site. The bedroom was secure with a deadbolt lock which I had a key to. The amenities, the food and the service were all first rate. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Brick Inn and look forward to my next stay.
