We ordered a side of BBQ ribs with 2 sides to go recently at the Arnold location. When we got home we found that all of the sliced rib edges were hard and the meat was tough. So much of it was left on the plate, not edible. Apparently the ribs were cut some time ago and left for a long period then re-warmed. At home we would call these "Leftovers". This is inexcusable especially with the cost of meat. One should be able to get fresh cut ribs, not ribs that were warmed up many times. The solution: leave ribs intact (not sliced) until you are ready to serve. The sides were fine. read more

The Bandanas in Arnold Missouri has always been a local favorite and after having eaten there many times and called for take out, they have always treated my wife and I withthe utmost respect When the restaurant is packed nearly 7 days a week during peek hours, your eating experience will stiller good one. We ordered take out through door dash because i had credits, but we did pick up instead of delivery. The pick up was easy, however, we did not get the type of sauce we asked for- and you select it with your order. I didnt get any St Louis sweet but got Chicago and spicy. Also, the size of their sides is just silly. I definitely get larger sides with take out at other local bbq places for the same amount of money or less. Honestly, I wanted to order from one of the other local bbq places and my husband requested bandanas ... he regretted his decision when we opened the containers. We won't be regular customers for carry out, maybe for dine in, but that is a maybe. St. Louis has a lot of bbq places that are more generous in their helpings for less money. Bandana's is an old favorite of mine when I'm passing throught the St Louis area. It's kinda shapped like a Denny's in my opinion - just a weird observation Pros: +Personally I've never had anthing on the menu I didn't like. I've had rib tips, pork, turkey and all kinds of variations that met my liking +Atmosphere has always been a plus for me. Bandanas seems pretty well kept and no issues there. Cons: -Service is really hit or miss here. My last visit was downright HORRID. Pretty sure the waitress didn't put our meal in with the cooks, and it set us back nearly an hour. -This is not a place I would recommend grub hubbing out of. Too many things can go wrong. I think Bandana's is way too busy for that Bottom Line: The last visit left a bad taste, but its not enough to debunk nearly 20 years of satisfaction. This is the second time we've been to this chain. Different location but this one was just as good. They actually had a sauce I don't think the other had. I ordered the budget rib platter which only had 2 ribs, I feel like it should have had 4. Potato salad was excellent. Our server was very friendly and quick. The dining room was pretty stead but not over loud. Would return. We also got dessert which was very good. Not sure it was $8 worthy but it was quite good. read more

Everything was fine until my boyfriend found a nail in his food. Manager swears up and down that they "wear gloves," but that's quite literally impossible if there was a NAIL in the food. Don't eat here if you want to keep your appetite, and want food without nails in it. read more

We have been big supporters of Bandana's for years!!! Unfortunately during the Pandemic we have been unable to eat in, but we have enjoyed their take out many times. Knowing how much we enjoy their good, especially their smoked Turkey, we thought we'd give their "full Turkey" a try for Thanksgiving. At $60 it was comparable to other fully cooked turkeys we have purchased in the past. Here's what they DONT tell you: (1) The Turkey comes cold. You have to spend 2 hours to heat it up. Okay, that wouldn't be a HUGE deal, IF THEY TOLD YOU THAT WHEN YOU ORDERED IT!! Even though we timed our sides so they were hot and ready to go, we instead had to set them aside and wait another TWO HOURS to eat. (2) It's not a "fully Turkey", it some sort of "Turkey loaf". It was the size of a large Turkey, but there were no bones... none. It was shaped to be the shape of a Turkey, but was oddly compact. Also you couldn't chew through the skin. It was tough, to say the very least. Overall, our Turkey very much ruined our meal. It was oddly moist (we suspect because it was molded together), had none of the normal "meat graining" (for lack of a better description), and REEKED of liquid smoke. I'm not kidding. I've had smoked Turkey before, and never did the core of it have such a strong smoke flavor. It completed overpowered. Here's the best part... when we called Banana's manager to discuss our dissatisfaction they argued with us about it being a "Turkey breast". And that's literally all they had to say. No "sorry for not telling you it was cold". "Sorry it wasn't to your satisfaction, here's $10 in GC for you to come back and use with us next time, NOTHING. Let me tell you this... if it was a Turkey breast, then it must have been the largest flipping Turkey on the planet. The "breast" was the SAME SHAPE and SAME SIZE of a 25 lb Turkey. Overall, we won't be purchasing this "Turkey breast" every again. And honestly, their lack of empathy about our family holiday is disappointing, to say the least. read more

I have not tried everything on the menu here, but I have had numerous items. They do sell out of certain items at times. The best thing on the menu, in my opinion, is the smoked turkey!!! Went to Bandana's in Arnold for the first time in a couple of years as we have been going to the other BBQ place in Arnold recently. I had the brisket and smoked sausage and it was very good. The brisket was moist and sliced nice and thin like I like it. The sausage wasn't very smoky and I generally like it a little spicier but it was still good. We had the smoked wings as an appetizer and again I didn't get much smoke flavor but they were phenomenal, crispy on the outside and not dried out at all on the inside with good flavor. I don't if they were flash fried or if they were really smoked but I'd recommend them either way. Ordered carryout half slab rib dinner. No utensils of any kind were provided. We were told they were out of regular cups so we received our soda in 8oz coffee cups. When I questioned the small serving size for regular price I was offered an extra cup of soda. Ribs were dry and tough. Fried corn was burnt. I ordered a Bbq feast for two and had opted for the pulled pork and it was mostly fat globs. We couldn't eat it. The ribs were good. The chicken was malnourished. The sides were okay. Husband & I ordered dinner tonight through Grubhub on the web. 45 minutes later only his meal arrived. We called & were told that my meal was sold out & they sent a message through the app (but we don't use the app). No attempt was made to call us when a response wasn't received. Maybe not the best in St. Louis. Who cares? They serve a tasty consistent product. Low turnover on the help shows a great run restaurant. Always friendly and accommodating. I had the BBQ salad. My Yelp buddy Paul K. says he eats it often.. good enough for me. You have your choice of Beef, Pork and Chicken, yes I chose Pork.. It was very filling with a generous portion of smoked pork. I used the BBQ Ranch salad dressing (What else). It was quite good actually. Great location, this is the reason I found it the first time. Overall, this is a standard BBQ chain... nothing special and nothing horrible. Bandanas is, however, significantly overpriced for the quality of a chain restaurant. This particular location is fairly busy, but decent service. For the food, highly recommend the potato salad and sweet potato fries. The only reason we are giving this place four stars is because Jenna provided excellent customer service and she wasn't even our server. She's the type of employee that goes above and beyond and we truly appreciated it. Jenna checked on us throughout our meal and was very understanding when were not satisfied with the stew. She was quick to resolve the issue and thanked us for bringing it to her attention. They definitely provide you with LARGE portions. My husband is 6'1 and weights 210 and I'm 5'2 at 150 so we are not small people but the one plate with three meat options and two sides was more than enough to fill us up. They had three bbq sauce options and none was amazing. There was a spicy sauce, sweet, and the house sauce. The baked beans and the coleslaw are great. The meat was good, too. I liked the chicken- it was moist and well-seasoned. We also enjoyed the ribs!! We would definitely try it again but request Jenna. If she's not a manager, she should definitely be promoted to a leader so the other servers can learn from her. The establishment itself was not well kept. The floor was dirty, our table was sticky, and there was a dirty napkin and straw paper under our table. That was disappointing. When I think St. Louis BBQ, I think Bandana's! It is a great place for lunch. The BBQ sauce is at the table for you so you don't have to worry about which sauce to order. You order the meal/meat, they bring it to you, and you pick out the type and amount to put on your meal. I was disappointed when they introduced two new sauces and removed the hot sauce from the table, but it still exists, you just have to ask for it. There are many sides options and they are all great. My dinning companion and I stopped into this restaurant for lunch. A young lady named Melissa, who was our waitress is the only reason I am not giveing this restaurant a lower rating. She was courteous and attentive. If I return I will ask for her to be my waitress again. The food however leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered a two meat platter. Beef and pork with baked beans and a potato. Neither the beef or the pork was warm. They both tasted as though they were reheated from the day before in a microwave as they were dry. Further, they tasted so similar I had trouble distinguishing the meats from each other. The baked potato was good but the baked beans were great. I really enjoyed them. Worst BBQ I've ever eaten, and I'm a road warrior who has eaten BBQ all over the US. Ordered the sausage platter with okra and cole slaw. After 5 minutes got my food. Got potato salad and way over cooked corn. Corn looked like it had been in the steam table for a week. Waitress was obviously suffering from HEAD UP A55 syndrome. After waiting another 5 minutes finally got my cole slaw and then about 3 min. later got my okra.......Can you say over cooked kibble?? About 50% of the pieces of sausage had bone in it. 4 of the 6 sauses all tasted the same, the spicy was not at all spicy whatsoever!! Will NOT be back, and will NOT recommend!! Want good 'que?
