    Eldest Uncle
    Melinda P.

Restaurant was clean and well maintained. Food was delicious. Drinks were not so good. Not sure if it was an inexperienced bartender or what. I didn't care for the eldest uncle and the other 2 people I was with ordered bourbon drinks (they are avid bourbon drinkers) and they said they were not good as well.

The SoCo location is a stones throw from Costco which is nice when I don't want a $1.50 glizzy and coke. The service here is hit or miss as well as the food. I don't think they have steady foot traffic so maybe that's the real issue? I love a bestie combo plate and their fries are always on point.

We had the sweetest waitress and even that couldn't erase how bad the food was. The meat in both dishes was loaded with fat and gristle. It was terrible. I left half the sandwich "meat" on my plate. No way would we return.

Amazing service from Lorri! She made our experience so delightful. We walked in 30 mins before closing on a rainy Thursday night. Andie seated us with a warm welcome. No one gave us the vibe of "we close soon", which was refreshing as we're often late diners. Lorri immediately brought sauces and silverware set up to our table. Boyfriend is a gluten free diner. Lorri was diligent about checking what was safe for him to eat. We started with chicken skins and deviled eggs. I had the bestie duo plate with brisket, sweet ribs, green bean special side, and creamed corn. BF had trio with dry ribs, pulled chicken, jalepeno cheddar bologna, corn, and fries. We especially liked the deviled eggs, bologna, creamed corn, and mustardolina sauce! Only thing that was a miss was the dry ribs desperately needed salt.

The new Salt + Smoke in south county is now open! I've always been a fan and I guess it's equidistant to their Hampton location in relation to where I live but it is nice to know that I can come dine here now before a Costco trip. Silliness aside, the food was great as usual and the service is super friendly and quick. What more could you ask for? We started with the dry rubbed wings. Absolutely delicious. I ordered my usual 2 bestie plate with brisket and balogna for dinner with creamed corn and a side kale salad. Really good. My husband had there burger (first time in all our visits to any of their locations) and he loved it! They have the same BBQ offering as their other locations. Yes, the place does have smokers on the side of the building. This new restaurant is roomy, bright and in a fantastic albeit busy location. I can already see myself coming in here often.

While in The Lou we tried Salt + Smoke. I had my doubts but I was wrong. This place is pretty good and to be honest much better than I expected. My wife had the grilled cheese with pulled chicken. I had the two meat plate with Brisket and Ribs. My sides were the BBQ Beans and White Cheddar Mac and cheese . My wife had a the mashed potatoes that were offered as a special side. The meat was great and the sides were great. The beans were very smoky and complimented the BBQ. The ribs had a caramelized bite to them that tasted almost charred but added a great flavor and texture to the ribs. The brisket had great flavor and was good for Missouri brisket. My wife really enjoyed here grilled cheese with chicken and those mashed potatoes were loaded to perfection. The service was great and we got our food fast. It was definitely a good experience and the decor was more of a high end established with drinks and cocktails. If you are in The Lou you should try Salt+Smoke. We will go again!!!

I'm so disappointed with our experience here, to be honest. My family raves about Salt + Smoke, so of course we had finally to try it out. We were pleased to see that there's a newer location closer to us, so we stopped by for lunch. The actual restaurant is really nice. Spacious, clean, lots of seating. Large bar. But the atmosphere, the vibe even, felt very off. There were almost no people dining inside yet service was severely lacking. Our server Claire barely checked on us and was playing on her phone at the bar. The food was better than the service, but nowhere near good. My Brisket Sandwich was okay, but very gristly and fatty. To S+S credit, the beef fat fries were very good and crispy, especially dipped with their Alabama Ranch. However, I still thought my meal was subpar at best. My Dad said his 2 meat combo was too salty and dry. I tried a bite of it, and had to agree. Especially the "popover", which was supposed to be bacon flavored, but just tasted salty and dry. Anyways-- rant aside, we would probably never come back here. We were very disappointed in both the service and food.

Damn this was good. Everything down to the pickles, just delicious. Brisket was our favorite along with the mac & cheese. If you want to try a little of it all order the besties plate where you get two meats, two sides and a popover. Hotangy sauce was thin/acidic and not spicy, we liked the classic sweet bbq sauce the best. We will be back when craving some bbq again!

What a Train wreck. I saw the server twice in 45 minutes. Easily the best part of the experience. The brisket was dry, the chicken was dry and had no flavor at all, all of the sauces were bad, the best being the sweet one, the Mac and cheese was passable I suppose but it was boiled noodles and ritz, or so it tasted. The beans were unflavored, all in all it was just bad. Not impressed with St. Louis BBQ. It looked cool on the inside I guess

Just a fantastic experience. Great service and the food/wings were exceptional! I will Be back!

My friend and I finally decided on this restaurant. I was initially hesitant because of the mediocre reviews this place got. But man, oh man, we had an amazing experience. First of all, the food was delicious. We didn't even have to wait very long after we ordered. Honestly, we waited maybe 5 to 7 minutes and we were quickly served. My friend got the two meat platter with brisket and wings. I got the brisket and pulled pork. Our beers were delicious. My friend got an IPA and I got a citrus wheat beer. My sides came with potato salad and mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was by far the best mac & cheese side I've ever eaten from a restaurant. I thought sweetie pie's was the best before, but this restaurant is the best. My friend's wings were also amazingly delicious. The bread was a Yorkshire pudding. What was disappointing were the sauces and the waitress didn't even bother to explain what they were really. Some of them were self explanatory but some of them weren't. What was the point of the "I can't even"? It was the best one of the sauces but "hotangy" wasn't that hot and the sweet sauce was the second best of all the other flavors. I still highly recommend this place. 9/10.

Especially during the spring and summer when we can take full advantage of the patio. There's live music a few nights a week. I recommend going early. They occasionally run out of the daily specials and more popular items. Step inside the bar area to place your order for food and drinks. They carry a nice selection of local and craft beer. There is a full bar for any of your cocktails and spirit drinks. They offer all of the traditional bbq meats: brisket, ribs, smoked turkey. My favorite is the smoked salami. I still haven't figured out what's in there but dang it's good! The meats can be served as a meal with a 1/2 of your choice of meat and two sides. The sides are absolutely stellar . Mac and cheese, pit beans, slaw, potato salad etc. My go to is the Brussels sprouts and the hand cut fries. They offer traditional sandwiches that include one side. We ordered at the bar, both my friend and I ordering the OG Brisket Sandwiches, mine with Coleslaw and my friend's with fries. No sooner did we sit down did our food come, and WOW, the sandwiches were huge with a pile of perfectly cooked melt in your mouth Brisket. I'm hard pressed to remember any better. The coleslaw was, well, different and hard to explain, but had a tangy mustard kind of taste. The fries on my buddy's plate were fantastic as well. I had never had brisket before having that sandwich, now my mouth waters any time I talk about this restaurant! The cole slaw that I had as a side provided the perfect crunch and balance. My mate had the pulled pork sandwich, which was also very tender. I also loved having a variety of barbecue sauces on the table and was able to try each one. Everyone has a preference, I'm sure, but after trying each one, I am completely sold on the Carolina gold. But the flavor was good. And every table has six different sauces and you can have as much sauce as you want. I tried them all, and my personal favorites were the Carolina mustard, and the Texas hot sauce. The white barbecue was also very interesting. But they're all good. Fried green tomatoes were terrific! Broccoli salad and the coleslaw were pretty tasteless. As was the cornbread. Really wouldn't describe that as sweet cornbread. It seemed a mostly just wheat flour cornbread. The honey butter on its own was really the best side. I'm not unhappy that I came here, but would I seek it out again or try something else in the area? I would try something else in the area. It was cut into little cubes but paired with one of the sauces? Very nice! And pulled pork was great. The potato salad? Yup! The chili? Yup! The fried bread roll? Well, it was a little unexpected, but it was very nice as well. As we had heard that St. Louis barbecue was uniquely different from any other barbecue, we had to have it! Now my husband is a grill master and said the ribs were better than his...that is a bold statement coming from him, however I had to agree. If driving through Saint Louie, this place is a must!

The hype is real. I…read morehaven't written a review in ages. Bogart's has compelled me to write a review. First I want to say I was not sold on STL BBQ. I went to the recommended "good" places and walked away disappointed. I happen to be in Soulard one day and noticed Bogart's closed because they sold out. That's a big green flag to me. Not open Sunday and Monday, green flag. Primarily open for lunch, green flag. I just knew I had to check it out. Finally got the opportunity to check it out and boy was it delicious. I got a two meat plate with two sides. I got the tri tip, ribs, baked beans, and deviled potato salad. The deviled egg potato salad taste like it sounds. It taste like potato salad and and deviled egg had a baby. Never seen such a creation but I knew I needed to have it. The baked beans were out of this world!! Top three baked beans I've ever had!! A little smokey, a little sweet, and just the right consistency as far as thickness for me A1 . The ribs by far the best ribs I've had in STL. Very flavorful and tender. The tri tip it was ok. I've never had it shaved before and couldn't really get a good grasp on the flavor. It wasn't bad, just not the way I've had tri tip previously. All of their BBQ sauces were fantastic as well!! My favorite sauce was the pineapple express. Bogart's has restored my faith in STL BBQ. I was a non-believer for some time . HIGHLY recommend

Very, very cutesy, quaint restaurant. There are only about 12 to 13 seating options, with only about 5 or 6 of them being non-bar height options. Nikki was our server; she was awesome, helpful & attentive! Everything is a la carte. Boooooooo! Lol. I'm not a huge fan of restaurants that serve a la carte. But whatevs. I started with the Charleston drink. It was good and strong; came out in a fancy box w a lil smoke. It was semi dramatic, lol. We decided to order the collards and spinach artichoke dip to start with. It was good. It gave spinach and artichoke dip for the most part. The seasoned saltine crackers that accompanied that were not my favorite, but not the worst, & we had to ask for more to finish the dip (we were unexpectedly charged for them -_____-). I wish it was pita bread or pita chips instead, but I guess the crackers are Lucy's special touch. We finally decide on food; she got the catfish po boy, I got the brisket sandwich. She said her sandwich was FIRE but I didn't try it so I can't speak to that unfortunately. My brisket sandwich was ok; it had queso on it and it was kinda cold which was wack. The sandwich was a decent size for sure, I just could have went for a different bread personally. The ciabatta bread overpowered the actual meat. I asked for bbq sauce to dip and eat pieces of the brisket. I want to come back and try the Brussels and catfish po boy myself.

Because who just eats at one place when you can aggressively commit to 2 places? At Little Lucy, I ordered The Charleston, which is their smoked old-fashioned, and yes, it comes with a whole dramatic tableside smoke show. It's like dinner theater but with bourbon. It tasted like a campfire if that campfire also happened to major in mixology. Alongside it, we got the collard greens and artichoke dip, which was creamy and earthy. Loved it?! Apps/drinks at Little Lucy. Dinner at Lucy Quinn. Be strategic!
