My GF and I were on a long road trip through STL and stumbled on a gem with Salt +Smoke. GF has multiple serious food allergies, so finding places to eat that can easily accommodate is a pretty daunting task. We chose Salt + Smoke because it was nearby and usually BBQ is pretty doable for her. When we got to our table, we were both amazed that Salt + Smoke has a FULL allergen-friendly menu, not only gluten like many places will have nowadays. And our server was super patient and understanding of our needs as well. GF was able to easily select an entree and sides that she could safely enjoy, including the amazing deviled eggs. When our entrees came out, they were amazing also -- I highly recommend the brisket grilled cheese and the popovers. We both had plenty of leftovers for another meal too. Finally, the space inside the restaurant is really well done: very modern and open, but comfortable as well. It happens in the offseason, during two-a-days, and at 6pm during the evening rush on a Friday night. I'm not saying salt + smoke couldn't win a championship right now. They have the makings of a great team. They just haven't learned to play together. Ribs falling off the bone, that's your quarterback. You want a guy that will take a swing on a deep ball without barbecue sauce. Fatty brisket, that's your left tackle. You expect them to be the saving grace of a meal through consistency and flavor. But don't forget how important coaching is. You can't just have talented players. You need more salt and less smoke. It's called accountability. Now I say this all to say that my 1.5 year old toddler ate more food than she'd eaten the last week. As a dad, if she's happy, I'm happy. So, I'd recommend to any family. Not sure if I would go back. The location is in a crazy busy intersection. They do have a nice size parking lot to park in. The atmosphere was clean and nice inside. The food... We started off with the deviled eggs (good) and the hush puppies (horrible). The hush puppies had no flavor to them and were burnt on the outside. They give you a honey butter with the hush puppies and I see why because the hush puppies are horrible. Then we ordered the three meat platter with two sides. Smoke wings, ribs and chicken. The meat overall was good. They do offer four different sauces at the table to go along with the meat. We also ordered the coleslaw and fries, which were both good. This is my first visit to this location and it might be my new fave! The interior is a huge space, great for a big group - and even a little separate event room. Bright and clean inside. Service was wonderful, our server was friendly and gave us some great recs. My husband and I shared the 3 meat plate and had leftovers to take home. We ordered brisket, hot wings and ribs for our meats and Mac n cheese and beef fries for our sides. The ribs were our favorites - they literally fell off the bone as we put on our plates. We recently had a group of 26 dine at this Salt & Smoke location. I had made the reservations through their catering department several weeks ahead and was given the option for a private room with a $300 deposit. The $300 was deducted from the total bill. The reservation was for a Thursday evening and I arrived 15 minutes before our group was due to arrive. I was immediately greeted by Shannon, our server, at the hostess desk. She was amazing through out our entire dinner taking drink and food orders. We were able to order off the regular menu and she kept track of everyone's orders. The food was delivered very quickly and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I spoke with several of our group today and they were thanking me for finding such a great place and what an enjoyable evening they had. I would highly recommend this location to anyone needing a comfortable and enjoyable space for a group. P.S. My original reservation was made for the Hampton location. The day after it was announced that it was closing I received a call from their catering department. Amy rearranged the location and space without having to change our date. I've always been a fan and I guess it's equidistant to their Hampton location in relation to where I live but it is nice to know that I can come dine here now before a Costco trip. Silliness aside, the food was great as usual and the service is super friendly and quick. What more could you ask for? We started with the dry rubbed wings. Absolutely delicious. I ordered my usual 2 bestie plate with brisket and balogna for dinner with creamed corn and a side kale salad. Really good. My husband had there burger (first time in all our visits to any of their locations) and he loved it! They have the same BBQ offering as their other locations. I had the two meat plate with Brisket and Ribs. My sides were the BBQ Beans and White Cheddar Mac and cheese . My wife had a the mashed potatoes that were offered as a special side. The meat was great and the sides were great. The beans were very smoky and complimented the BBQ. The ribs had a caramelized bite to them that tasted almost charred but added a great flavor and texture to the ribs. The brisket had great flavor and was good for Missouri brisket. My wife really enjoyed here grilled cheese with chicken and those mashed potatoes were loaded to perfection. The service was great and we got our food fast. We were pleased to see that there's a newer location closer to us, so we stopped by for lunch. The actual restaurant is really nice. Spacious, clean, lots of seating. Large bar. My friend and I finally decided on this restaurant. I was initially hesitant because of the mediocre reviews this place got. But man, oh man, we had an amazing experience. First of all, the food was delicious. We didn't even have to wait very long after we ordered. Honestly, we waited maybe 5 to 7 minutes and we were quickly served. My friend got the two meat platter with brisket and wings. I got the brisket and pulled pork. Our beers were delicious. My friend got an IPA and I got a citrus wheat beer. My sides came with potato salad and mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was by far the best mac & cheese side I've ever eaten from a restaurant. I thought sweetie pie's was the best before, but this restaurant is the best. My friend's wings were also amazingly delicious. The bread was a Yorkshire pudding. What was disappointing were the sauces and the waitress didn't even bother to explain what they were really. Some of them were self explanatory but some of them weren't. What was the point of the "I can't even"? It was the best one of the sauces but "hotangy" wasn't that hot and the sweet sauce was the second best of all the other flavors. I have had the ribs, pulled chicken & brisket that have hit the mark each time. I was really surprised by how good their cream corn was. Not your typical grandmothers cream corn from a can. My wife and I went there with friends for our first time. The service and the restaurant were very good. The food was a different story. I had three meats plate the fries side were the best thing on the plate. My smoked wings were terribly dry. Pulled chicken was dry with little flavor. The brisket was tasty but also dry. The worst was the salad side it had obviously been sitting around all the dressing at the bottom of the bowl tomato and not sure what the actual lettuce was called it was limp and tasteless.
