I'd heard great things about this place and had been wanting to try it for a while. We ended up going as a group when a friend was visiting from out of town. I didn't realize it was quite so far away, but it was worth checking out. Overall, I really enjoyed The Berliner with chicken, and the fresh Somun Bread & Kajmak was also a standout. The food was flavorful, and everyone in our group seemed to enjoy their meal. The only downside was that several of us ended up with upset stomachs afterward. I am truly disappointed after my recent visit for a late lunch. Service was prompt and my order arrived at my table quickly. I ordered the Doner Salad, Hummus appetizer, and a Diet Coke. As always, the food is simply delicious. What really pissed me off? Upon leaving, I asked for a container to take most of it home because it was too much to eat. The young woman served me a brown cardboard wax-coated box to dump everything in. She said, "Will this do?" No bag to carry it home or prevent the 2 oz. Soufflé cup Olive Oil, and partially full- 2 oz. Soufflé cup of Tzatziki. I asked if I could get an extra 2 oz. portion of Tazatziki. The young woman looked at me rudely and as if she would be terribly inconvenienced, she said "We charge extra for that!" I replied "Just FORGET it!" She was very attentive to a table of females behind me who were obnoxiously loud! I regret I left her a tip after spending $40.00 + for lunch. Your To-go orders include very fancy packaging in orange bag, oversized white plastic bag. I'm a sure an extra 2.0 oz portion of Tazatziki wouldn't break your piggy bank and cost a helluva lot less. I stopped by on my lunch break on a Wednesday. Around 11:45. Was busy, but mostly people sitting around, waiting for their order. I walked up to the register to order, and they said, "Hi, are you picking up an order?". I told them no, but would like to order. They told me it was an hour wait due to online orders being taken care of first. So I said ok, and walked out. They were very nice, but I feel like catering to online orders, instead of walk-in costumers is bad business. I'm sure the food is great, but I won't patronize a business that caters to online orders. Hopefully that will change. Would like to change my review, but without given a chance to try their food. Was in the mood for mediterranean food, so ordered the Pljeskavica, pide, potato pie and J's Stuffed Flatbread. The Pljeskavica was delicious. The meat was flavorful and had a good balance with the vegetables. Potato pie was pretty good. Definitely a hand situation; found that if you use a fork and knife, the filling tends to spill out on the plate. Potato flasvor was decent and savory. The pide was okay. I felt like the distribution of flavors were uneven, and the something about about the cheese didn't hit quite right. Also felt like the bread itself was too bready, and not a satisfying balance of chew and crisp from the outside. The stuffed flatbread had a good flavors, but felt like there wasn't enough meat in the filling. Seems as though the cheese was the dominating flavor, and I felt like I didn't get the other flavors as prominantly. Overall, this is a decent place. However, it is unfortunate that there is another great mediterranean place in the area (Balkan Treat box) that I believe is better than this place. 4/5 stars. read more

The food here is always fresh and delicious! This is one of the few places that makes it easy to eat healthy when you are on the go. Highly recommend ordering the flatbread and hummus. Inside is typically crowded even at off hours and it can be difficult to find a table if you have more than 2 people in your party. A few weeks ago my friend and I spent the day together and before we parted ways, we talked about picking up something to eat that we could bring home to our partners and J's was literally the first place I thought of since we were sort of in the area! I regret that we did not call and order ahead since when we arrived (on a Sunday afternoon) the place was packed - standing room inside and out with lots of people waiting for orders and others waiting to order. When it was our turn to order, we each went with simple items and just ordered a few traditional gyro's. After paying, we were able to find a little area to hang out and wait. While waiting, we both noticed how popular this spot has really become. Honestly, they ere turning tables so quickly and the small kitchen staff were working hard to fill orders. It was really impressive to see how well they all worked together to get people fed! After about 20 minutes, our name was called and we were able to grab our bags and head out. The line at that time, was already out the door so we actually made it before the mad rush! When I got home, I unpacked my items and everything was wrapped nicely and they provided utensils and napkins which was so nice. The gyro's were still warm and the meat and other fillings were piling out of the gyro, they really do fill up the gyro which is so appreciated. The meat was flavored so well and my chicken was moist and tender which is not always the case when ordering a chicken gyro at other places. I really love J's and will continue to order from here and know to order ahead from now on to avoid a line and a wait. Located a few minutes southwest of St. Louis, J's Pitaria is a hidden hot spot that provides fresh Mediterranean food for any pallet. J's Pitaria menu had the traditional Mediterranean dishes you'd expect with a few custom dishes worth trying. I've always thought of these guys as a carry-out place, but yesterday, I met a friend there for lunch. Holy cow it was amazing! When I've done carry out in the past, I've always gotten the Berliner or one of the pies. Always incredible. But yesterday I branched out. My buddy and I each got a flatbread, and shared, and they were outstanding. The lady working behind the counter came out and chatted with us, and the manager (owner?) did too, which I thought was cool. It was a fantastic experience from top to bottom. It definitely captures the medditerian culture and aspects, just awesome. Tables, seats and floor were decently clean. Drove 40 minutes to finally check out J's Pitaria, and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered their Pide to eat there and the Falafel to-go. Since I live far away, I might as well get two things. I realized the Falafel may taste different if it gets cold, so I ate half of the Pide and a quarter of the Falafel Wrap while I was there, and I was so sad. Sad, that they are so far from me! The garlic outer bread of the pide was so soft, chewy, and garlicky, and the inside was so flavorful! The Falafel is usually very dry, but theirs wasn't too dry, and they put a lot of veggies and sauce that were a perfect combination. Definitely need to go back again! Located on the side of Athletico, next to Froyo! Plenty parking spaces in front of the plaza if you can't find a spot by the restaurant. I had heard good things about this place since they opened and was eager to try them. I met a friend for lunch and ended up being the second in line right when the clock struck 11. It didn't take long before 10 people were there within minutes of the doors being opened, so once I noticed that, I knew the food would be good. Menu wise, they have a lot to offer and I love how they have pictures of the food! That's always a huge plus in my book, especially when you're unfamiliar. The people in front of us seemed to be regulars, as they ordered quickly and sat down. In a panic, I ordered the hummus and my friend ordered the Berliner. We took a number and sat in the back. Within minutes, our food arrived. My friend commented that he loves this place due to how good and fresh their food is. Once I tasted the hummus, I couldn't agree more. The pita bread was delicious, and the blend of spices in the hummus went together perfectly. While I didn't sample my friend's sandwich, it looked succulent and rich. I've tried to go here a few times, but it's always been super busy. Finally I made it during the week at a weird hour, like 5:30pm, and was able to place an order to go easily online. A neighbor recommended J's so we decided to drop in for dinner. First off, the place was packed. A very good sign. It also looks like the kind of place that has counter service only, high quality pictures of the menu on a wall behind the counter, but we were served from the table. When I tried to order cevapi and was told that they were sold out and that our order would take 40 minutes, my first impulse was to go somewhere else because that was the main thing I wanted to try but we stuck it out and maybe five minutes later we were eating an amazing piece of flatbread (Somun) with a really interesting creamy cheese (kajmak). If the appetizer was any indication, the dinner would be well worth waiting another half hour for...And then, ten minutes later, our food arrived! A chicken panini, a Berliner (doner) sandwich, and a J's stuffed flatbread. We were all immediately in love. The chicken was super flavorful, similar to a shawarma, and panini grilled in that delicious somun. The Berliner was another somun cut pocket style and absolutely jam packed with doner and veg and a delicious yogurt garlic sauce. The flatbread seemed similar to a pita, but sized to be a massive stuffed picket filled with beef and cheese and spinach. So the service was amazing and the food, even if I didn't get to try what I originally wanted, was extremely high quality. I could eat here every day and even if I never get to try the cevapi and actually have to wait the 40 minutes they threatened us with it would be absolutely worth it. There are also huge pictures of the menu with a description of each item which I greatly appreciated and helped me decide what to order. I got The Berliner and it was amazing! The portion was huge and I needed a to go box. It actually turned into three different meals for me, which was a great deal! This place has been on my list for over a year now and I finally made the drive from the city to get here. I expected it to be a fast casual restaurant with a lot of the food already cooked but I was so wrong about that haha! They cook everything fresh and they sell out of ingredients. We were informed the wait time was 45 minutes. The employee gave us a tip to call and place the order ahead of time, and they will let you eat it there. I ordered the Pjeskavica and my wife got the Pide flatbed. We were given a number and sat at our table for 30 minutes and then the food was served. At a glance, the bread covers everything so I'm not sure what I'm getting but after the first bite I was full of surprises and took another bite before chewing. The sandwich is hard to hold together because the diameter is so big. The burger had wonderful Mediterranean seasonings but it reminded me of a burger you would get off a smoky charcoal grill. There was a lovely layers of flavoring going on that I just loved. There is this red spread on the bottom of the sandwich that I couldn't taste very much. I think they put too much mayo/Taziki on it. The Pide looked great, I wasn't in the mood for flatbed but the ingredients looked fresh and the cheese was plentiful and melted excellently for a good cheese pull.
