We ordered ahead (highly recommend) and we got two pizza boxes but ordered 4 slices. Detroit style pizza isn't a new concept, but why are the massive here? They are SOO GOOD though. The bread was absolutely the best part and the combos for their specialty flavors are not to be beat. The mushroom slice will probably be my favvorite STL wise, and the Elote slice is what I will dream about. Service was great! The team here really seems to enjoy what they do and I think you can feel it in how they talk to you. There is hardly anywhere to sit here, so just take out and eat it at Forest Park or home. The shop itself is really nice. There are cute photos of the workers with family and guests that really shows the personality of the place and I loved that. There were some funny photos that also showed a sense of humor and it was delightful. The lasagna pizza was the best pizza I've ever had in my life. The ricotta was so light and the flavor of the sauce had such crazy depth. The pesto added the perfect amount of freshness to the pizza and it was just... ten out of ten starts. A MUST have. I'm already counting the days until I go back. The mushroom pizza was good but not what I'm looking for in pizza. It was a very light garlicky pizza but was a lot sweeter than I had anticipated and I'm not a sweet pizza person, but if you are, then you'll probably like it/

Complimentary loaves of sour dough bread were delivered to the table as we enjoyed our beverages. Crab Cake $27 - This was one delicious lumpy crab cake with succulent pieces of crab, big enough to share with two people. Down Home Shrimp $26 - 3 large pieces of shrimp on top of mouth watering mash potato like sauce that you want to lick clean. You can add on additional shrimp. Single Cut Prime Rib 16oz $66 - It was cooked perfectly medium rare and very tender. I didn't love that it sat in a pool of au jus, but was delicious. Brussels sprouts $15 - Large portion, more than plenty for 4 people. It was tender and very saucy. Garlic Mashed potatoes $16 - Semi-lumpy mashed potato with bits of skin. I was hoping it might be served with gravy similar to the shrimp sauce, but there was no companion. Cheesecake with blueberry sauce $16 - Large piece of cheesecake, very rich and smooth. The menu consists of asian-fusion steamed buns, rice bowls, and udon noodles. Our favorite bao buns are the Fried Chicken, Wagyu, and especially the Bangkok Chicken. Their bar encompasses a significant amount of the space offering craft cocktails and a wide selection of premium spirits including soju and sake. We stopped in after running an errand in Clayton and found out it's Clayton Restaurant week. Their Restaurant Week menu was a great deal of 4 courses at $39 including your selection of 3 bao buns to try. Unfortunately we did not have big enough of an appetite to order the Restaurant Week menu but did partake in their happy hour when a selection of cocktails are $10. Their happy hour is Sun-Thurs 4-6 with specials on wine, sake, beer, and select bao buns and snacks. Service is always polite and brief here to allow for a relaxing, and possibly romantic, dining experience. Although a smaller restaurant, they are able to accommodate larger reservations by pushing tables together. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of their menu!

However, I will tell you that Eddie turned it around. He was incredible. Sure, normally wait staff will tell you "oh yes great choice" so I asked if he would actually tell us if things were bad. Now, he didnt say anything was bad, but he did say he felt this other dish was better than what a person ordered because it had more flavor and yada yada. A honest man. Love to see that. Japanese Curry = Little spicy, but great flavor. Yum. Wagyu and bacon bao = amazing. Get it. Pork belly boa = a little dry, bummer. Fried shrimp boa = good. Fries = 100/10. Perfectly crispy. Amazing. Also a little thing, but the light on table had three different settings and I just really appreciated that. Treat yourself to this small restaurant tucked away in Clayton and go visit by boy Eddie.

I think…read morethere may not be enough seating for its customer demand... that's a sign of a popular place. Happy hour prices + the food quality are what had my friend invite me here. Some rolls are half off and so are a few beverages, like hot sake. I had never had hot sake. I've only had any sake once. I liked it fine, but I didn't want a second order after I finished the first. I was disappointed that Robata was out of plum wine. Instead I ordered what was described as a white sangria, but it tasted more like a brandy. I had a few sips and gave it to my friend. I had 4 vegetarian sushi rolls. Only the asparagus was included with happy hour. My 3 other rolls were takuan, pickle plum and BB. As much as I like plum (keep reading), and takuan was a pleasant surprise, and the asparagus was good, the BB, which has tempura asparagus, cream cheese, and sweet soy, was my favorite item of the evening. I was happy to see umeboshi onigiri on the lengthy menu. These were of a good size, but I think it perhaps would have benefitted from a higher pickled plum to rice ratio. (The only time I've had it has been from a food truck and I don't know how representative it is of onigiri.) Each order of food took a while to come out. My friend had trouble getting the server's attention when she wanted to put in more orders. Robata is not a place for a quick happy hour bite. It's going to take a while, especially if you're ordering in multiple rounds like we did. When the kitchen got too busy, my order another roll was denied. That happened well before dinner service ended and it was disappointing. I would have waited a bit longer. But it was probably good to get cut off from sushi at some point. We were a little confused by the bills. My friend may have overpaid (not gotten happy hour price) for some of her items, and there was some question about whether mine had been billed correctly, but in the end we decided that mine was probably correct. Hers, though... we aren't sure. I think I'll return to Robata for the BB roll, plum wine, and maybe something new, but I will be sure to have plenty of time, order a bunch all at once, and check the bill.

I came with a friend for happy hour. We got the half off sushi (which included the mackerel nigiri, which is my FAVORITE (Tho, theirs isn't as good as Sushi Hanna in Alton)) and house hot sake, which was perfect for this freezing week. The heat was out? Which the waitress apologized for. They had a space heater out, so we sat right by that. I also ordered a few of the onigiri to go. They aren't the best I've had, but I'll probably be back semi-regularly to get my fix of the flavor, which is just so unique. Same for half off mackerel Maybe one day I'll even try their non-sushi offerings...

It felt a bit hectic, though understandable given the staffing. Once we were seated for dinner, the experience improved in terms of service. The waitstaff was attentive and checked in regularly, which we appreciated. As for the food, it was fine but ultimately underwhelming. The dishes lacked flavor and didn't stand out or make me excited to try something else on the menu. Unfortunately, dessert was also disappointing. Overall, while the food was okay, it didn't feel worth the price or compelling enough to return. In hindsight, I may have enjoyed something more casual--like a burger at the bar--just as much, if not more.

Rearn Thai is a no-frills establishment that delivers huge portions for low prices and though the food was only slightly above mediocre, it still hit the spot. The combo appetizer was all deep fried and tasty, though the crab rangoon and wontons were extremely stingy on the filling. For main courses, the crispy noodles had a perfect crunch. The chicken tasted almost rotisserie and the veggies were generous. Overall, it was a good dish that was surprisingly light and bland. Lastly, the whole fried tilapia was great when it was steaming hot, with crispy skin and tender meat, though it tasted fishier the more it cooled down. Nothing was spicy despite us asking for mild and medium. There was only one party apart from us dining in on a Wednesday night. Because no music was playing, it was pretty quiet but generally comfortable. After reading some other reviews, I'd skip the pad thai and pad see-ew, but recommend trying the chili fried rice and red curry! They seem like a family-run restaurant so I was glad to support.

It's a very small restaurant - only three or four tables inside so the owner/manager/waiter could see I was ready. Fresh spring rolls to start which were served with a small dish of peanut sauce. A good portion and the chicken was thoroughly cooked. Plenty of spice for medium, I enjoyed it. Most of the vegetables were still quite firm, making for a crunchy dish of noodles.
