Very cool that there is a KPOT here in St. Louis..I have been to several locations in multiple states. CA, GA and now MO. I think the service was very good, folks were friendly and helpful. The beef was very good, I especially preferred the rib eye & hanger steaks (note some of them when you re-order is by piece and some by plates) I was surprised that the calamari/squid was nicely done. The shrimp was a good offering but I am more of a fan of Korean marinated bbq and meats when I come. We came w 7 guys, with the experienced guys who cooked for the other guys, but yes you cook the meat to whatever your hearts desire. And the sauce bar like all KPOTs have a very nice variety!! Me and my mom went there one Saturday back in March. I feel terrible for not leaving the review right after we left, but we were in such high spirits after such a great experience and sleepy Lol!! Our waitress Hannah left a great impression, and was kind and respectful the whole time! It was a bit packed that day, but setting was really cool! We stopped here for a weekday dinner and were seated quickly! The atmosphere inside is very cute with lots of lighting. Lots of seating areas for varying party sizes as well! We came so with a large party of 8, so to be seated quickly was a great surprise. I will note that They do not do reservations and there is a 2 hour time limit for eating, so take that into consideration when you are waiting for your whole party. The hostess as the front was kind enough to let me know of that limit, so I could wait for the rest of our party to arrive before they started the timer. Our server was very kind, he got our drinks out to us quickly and offered sides of rice and additional soup bowls. Our table opted to do both the Korean bbq and hot pot and he was very helpful in resolving some issues we had with some duplicate hot pot broths our party ordered not making it to the table, despite having been ordered on the tablet in the correct quantities. From the time of ordering on the tablet, it took less to an a minute for the sides and meats to start coming out. Given how large our party was, I was happy with the selection of both hot pot and kbbq items we could choose from! Lots of options for everybody and the portions sizes were consistent. The flavors were good as well. I will say that the table for 8 people had 8 hot pot burners, but only one kbbq burner at one end of the table. This meant the people at one end of the table were unfortunately left with doing all the cooking and passing down to the other end. For the cost of paying the surcharge for both hot pot and kbbq, it would have been nice to have bbq grills on both ends of the table, so both sets of 4 people would be able to enjoy cooking their own meats. I first checked out KPOT for my friend's birthday, and we had a wonderful time! We waited about 30 minutes for a table since we had a big group. Definitely get here early on a weekend night! We started by checking out the buffet of desserts and sides--French fries, fried sesame red bean balls (my favorite), oranges, small cakes, and a build-your-own-sauce station including soy sauce/kimchi/ponzu/chili oil and more. Your whole table can choose either hot pot OR BBQ and if you want both hot pot and BBQ, you pay a few extra dollars. After ordering a soup broth base, we ordered items with the tablet. They limit you to ordering a maximum number of items at a time, which makes sense so you don't end up with a bunch of food leftover. You can't bring the leftover food home, so only order what you can eat! It was fun to have your own individual hot pot to cook the meat, vegetables, tofu, and seafood and they have a HUGE variety of items to add into the hot pot. I like how the pot doesn't get super hot to the touch, so it was safe for my daughter to cook her own food. My seafood broth was good, but I loved my daughter's golden broth that came with goji berries and jujubes. For your birthday, the waiters come out singing happy birthday and holding up a "Happy Birthday to you!" sign which was so much fun! read more

Plenty of seating and a friendly host who walked us through the menu. You choose between Korean BBQ, Chinese-style hot pot, or a combo of both. Lunch and dinner menus are available all day, with the dinner option unlocking more premium (and pricier) ingredients. We went with the dinner combo to try everything--fun, but expensive. Hot Pot: Four broths were brought to the table. I chose Tom Yum, which was well spiced and packed with flavor. Others had Miso and Golden Chicken, both solid but milder. Ingredients included shrimp, shaved beef, fish, bok choy, garlic, onion, spinach, radish, rice cakes, and fish cakes. We added udon noodles at the end to finish the soup. Korean BBQ: Beef and chicken bulgogi were good, with tasty short ribs and grilled pork belly as highlights. Grilled veggies (onion, peppers, bok choy, mushrooms) and rice were included. Lettuce wraps available. Sides & sauces: Self-serve sauce and side station with kimchi, spring rolls, and condiments. Decent selection, though I was hoping for more variety (noodles, potato salad, egg pancake, more kimchi styles). Bottom line: My first hot pot experience and I enjoyed it, but the price felt high for how much we ate without fully using the all-you-can-eat aspect. We have been waiting for this location to open for quite some time now! This place is definitely more spacious compared to the other one. We were able to meet the manager, he seems like a great dude and was overall excited to help us out. Food was pretty standard, it's what you would expect from an AYCE KBBQ and hot pot. They had a good selection. It was a bit of a wait for our broths to come out (we didn't come at a super busy time but we were at the back corner). Other than that, it was just okay. The service was mixed between good and so so. My family and I arrived around 6pm Friday so I expected a wait time. It was supposed to be 25 mins wait but we got our table in 10' ish. The decor inside are great, especially the lighting. After this, the dinner experience was just so so. Our server couldn't turn on the grill so we had to wait for someone to come by. There were no banchan (side dishes) like kimchi, etc. I honestly was shock that there was no kimchi. Never been to a Korean bbq with no kimchi. Very busy when we arrived. They estimated a 50 minute wait but we only waited 30 minutes. This is like a buffet but they bring your choices to your table for a flat price per person. You can choose K Pot or BBQ or both. We went with the BBQ only. They give you a tablet to place your choices. My recommendation is start slow on your choices and see what you like. You can reorder as many times as you want. For dinner you have a two hour time limit. You need to eat everything you order or they will limit how much you can order. They do this to greatly reduce waste and cost. We liked the Prime Beef Brisket, Beef Bulgogi, Pork Belly and Garlic Chicken. They didn't have the high end beef options like filet mignon, ny strip, ribeye, ... We received good service. Our waitress was extremely busy. Make sure you check out the spice bar for dipping and fruit slices for a variety of tastes and textures. There's a huge parking lot encircling the restaurant. They just opened a week ago and we wanted to try it out. It sounded like a combo of Mongolian, Melting Pot, and Brazilian but with Korean ingredients. Not too far off. Basically there's two choices. BBQ where they bring you meats, seafood, and veggies and you cook it on a hot lid like grill. Or Hot Pot where you have a soup base also kept hot on your table. And you order meats veggies noodles to add to your soup. And if you can't decide like us, do both and pay an extra $5. It was worth it for us. My wife enjoyed the Hot Pot and I enjoyed both but more so the BBQ. It's also all you can eat. Lunch (before 4p) is about $10 less but there are some options not available. Kpot is fun family style food. The ambience is more like a nightclub with neon lighting, nice leather gray interior for the seats full bar and lots of space for family and friends. When it comes to the menu one hot pot or one Korean barbecue is enough for two people. If you have different flavor, spice profiles, definitely just get spice on the side as the hot pots are for the spicier individuals. There's a wide variety of proteins. I personally enjoyed the octopus and brisket. This is an all you can eat style restaurant so do not let your eyes get bigger than your stomach. The service was just OK as we went during their opening week so they all have a lot to learn and figure out as they understand the balance of the restaurant, but this place is a nice addition to the area. Shout out to our server tonight, Armani! He gave us the best hospitality i've ever experienced at any KPOT location, very attentive, very sweet, and made us all laugh so much! If you get him as a server, you are in luck! This location is so nice and the vibes at night are so calm, very spacey, not overstimulating at all. The food was a 10/10, the kitchen was very responsive every time we requested more meat. The sauce and appetizer bar were always filled and rotated. We came to the new KPOT location over the weekend for lunch with family. We were able to get in for a party of 6 right away which was nice since the other location always has a pretty long wait. We were sat in a booth that had one grill and 6 pot stations. We ordered the combo where we can do both. To be honest the booth is too small for 6 people and the grill is on one side making it really difficult for the people seated by the wall. The food was great but the table barely fit one plate and bowl per person so when the raw plates weren't cleared quickly we didn't have much space to eat. I would definitely go back again but probably just with four people. read more

This place was awesome, even with the first opening issues they seemed to be having when my wife and I went. iPads were not working at the tables and as we sat at the bar before being seated you could tell the servers and bartenders were having quite a few issues of kinks needing to be worked out. We started at the bar while waiting on our table, I had a margarita as I figured it was something easy and quick for them as they were backed up and my wife had a beer. We got our table faster than quoted, so that was nice. Our server was great, I wish I could remember her name, it's been a minute before I could write the review so I forgot. She explained everything to us since we hadn't experienced their location but we do know Korean BBQ & Hot Pot. We were pleasantly surprised to hear you could do both at your table. We decided to spend the extra money for this. We did the all you can eat dinner option. The KPOT pork belly, spicy bulgogi and smoked garlic pork belly were so good, but my favorite was the KPOT short rib. It was delicious. We also had the hot pot, she had the seafood base with ramen noodles and I had the mushroom base with udon noodles. We each had such different hot pot selections but both were good. The make your own sauces and appetizer bar is a nice touch as well. Again, the server made the experience great and the other servers and runners were all polite and helpful. It's a busy and large spot and could seem overwhelming to some, but they have signs on the walls and even in the booths to show you how long to cook the different items as well as the menus have all the items with pictures to help if needed as well. I went early Saturday evening around 5:30 pm. I had a party of three. We all ordered different things. I had never been before and the system is confusing. The server explained it ok but it's complicated. You order a broth from the server, then order the ingredients on an IPAD at the table. The broth is delicious and it's up to you as to when you put in it. there is meat, veggies and seafood. My companions also got the grill and ate a remarkable amount of grilled shrimp. There is a sauce bar where you create exactly the seasoning you want for your meal and its great however it is in an extremely poorly place in the restaurant, traffic flow is awful. My only problem with the service is when you order additional ingredients on the iPad it is delivered quickly by a cook with a little cart but it is unceremoniously tossed on the edge of the table and they are GONE. Overall, I enjoyed it and plan to return. The food is delicious, the vibe is a little loud and hectic. Not a place for a quiet date or a business dinner. This is a place to enjoy with friends on a night out. I'm giving them for stars because the food is just that good. read more

First time visiting this restaurant that took over from where the Pasta House Co used to be. What a fun, new kind of all- you-can eat Korean dining experience. Our server, Laura, did an amazing job explaining how everything works. Ordered from the BBQ menu. Started with beef brisket and mushrooms. Called to make a reservation for a Saturday night since we had an hour drive. Was told no reservations were taken. I asked if we would have a problem getting a seat at 6:30. I was told it would not be a problem. Showed up at 6:30 and was told wait time was 1.5 to 2 hours. If you are that busy on a particular night, take reservations or inform people of the wait time. This was our first visit to KPOT and we were not sure what to expect. The concept of cook your own food isn't really why I go to a restaurant. After a brief explanation of what to expect, We were handed a tablet to order with. The tablet still had the last diner's order up. The tablet was filthy. And the waiter didn't clean it before handing it to me. I went to the sauce bar and there were no sauce bowls. The vegetables for barbecue come dry, and take a long time to cook. The meat comes seasoned and cooked relatively quickly. So your meat is done but your vegetables aren't. We ordered beef and chicken bulgogi and the short ribs. The meats were seasoned well and tender. Neither of us would order the short ribs again though. Our waters were not refilled until we were ready for our check. We live in the area and wanted to try this place for something new. Our server was friendly and explained the menu and options. However, we never got our drinks refilled and all the plates from the ingredients kind of piled up on the table which was frustrating. You place your order on a tablet, someone brings the ingredients within minutes and then you cook it. There is a buffet of sauces and some apps like spring rolls, sesame balls, goyza, cucumber salad, etc. The food itself was fine-ingredients seemed fresh (other than the canned pineapple). I do wish there was a plain salmon option in addition to the "spicy" salmon. I just didn't care for the marinade. It is a TON of food and I know some people love an all you can eat place but, we aren't those people. We did the combo hot pot and BBQ to try it out for our first time (it is only a $5 difference to do both so why not). One important thing to note is that the entire table has to chose the same options-hot pot, bbq or both. I understand why they do that (to avoid people sharing I guess) but it would be a big consideration when going if everyone is forced to order something they may not all want. We made sure not to over order because the fine print says you get charged a nearly $15 penalty if you have too much left over. We still couldn't eat it all and there was quite a bit left over that just felt wasteful to leave since you can't take it to go. It was a fun experience but honestly, I don't think we will be back. With tip (which we served ourselves so that seemed excessive) it was almost $100 for 2 people (we had water and 1 soda). We don't mind spending that for a dinner out, but the quality of the meal itself didn't justify the price tag in this case. read more

You should give unsatisfied customers an opportunity to come back with an incentive. Why ask them to come back and pay full price or anything at all when their experience was unpleasant. That's just bad business. 80 dollars for lunch with 2 people is steep but if so, everything should be impeccable! Servers are not well trained and I sensed many never waited tables before. Food was just okay, but I would consider coming back if and when the kinks are out. I have been around the food service industry 30 years or so and hopefully you are having some kind of on going training until your staff is 100 % efficient and comfortable with their role. I observed other tables and a lot of steps were being missed and attention to detail was lacking! Failure to address this will result in a consistent decline in business until it's no longer sustainable . Great concept and opportunity for success however it's a constant work of progress. Utilize stronger servers to mentor inexperienced servers and offer them leading roles with incentives to keep things running smoothly. Managers can't be everywhere at once. read more
