Steak gogi bowl
Timira M.

Again, what rock have I been living under? Seriously, this place is a nice tucked away hidden gem. We came here on a Saturday evening and the place wasn't too busy or crowded. It took me a minute to figure out what I wanted but the person I was with raved about their gogi bowls. I settled on the gogi bowl with a fried rice and they got a steak gogi bowl with white rice. We placed our orders and they came out within 10 minutes. The food is amazing and the portion sizes are decent. I can't believe I've driven by this place a thousand times and never even stopped to go in. The restaurant was clean and so was the restroom. The staff is also friendly and professional. As always until next time...

Gogi Bowl - chicken

Went in for a late night dinner with the bf, his first time in, my first time back in a couple years. WOW this place sure has changed since covid. Arrived at 8:30 and there were maybe 2 other tables already seated. You order at a tablet up front and pick a table and wait for your order to be called, pretty standard setup to find these days on Delmar. I enjoyed the tea varieties they offer and settled with a mandarin cardamom tea, definitely sweetened. For food we got the trio sampler of tacos favorite was probably the chicken. And also ordered a spicy chicken bowl. Food was out fast, I'd say like 8 mins tops. Everything looked great! Lots of color to the plates and the greens weren't wilted or soggy that tends to happen with some of the bowl places. The egg was perfectly runny too! But sadly something just wasn't right. It's like everything was bland or sweet without having complexity that Korean food is known for. Felt as if these plates were something I would have thrown together at home not knowing the right portions of sauce or seasoning. Idk it's hard to put a finger on but definitely not the food I recall that brought me in initially. Maybe a new menu revamp is due or idk maybe I just need to not expect so much from them... I was fed, service was a tablet so can't say much and I didn't get sick. You decide for yourself :)

Pros: - the decoration and space are very picturesque and welcoming - the fusion of Mexican/korean is pretty well done! The food was pretty good Cons: - the staff were quite rude and unfriendly, even though the restaurant was not busy (we waited at the counter for over 20 minutes to get service) - the wait time for food was ridiculous as well, especially for the small orders we placed (and again, the restaurant was NOT busy at all!) Overall, I would not recommend going again. Wish the experience was better because the menu looked promising!

I recently visited it has been Asians things were different. You know order on a kiosk at least that was the case on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the bulgogi bowl with spicy pork. A combination of rice, mixed greens, spicy pork shredded carrots and a fried egg on top. Don't forget the gochujang on the side. I don't get over here very often but it's always worth the visit. That are always playing 90s and early 2000s hip hop. It's a good hang. Check them out if you have, swing back for another visit.

Bulgogi steak taco, you can't go wrong!

Funky-vibe Korean tacos joint! Kinda funny there are no Koreans in sight, in or out of the kitchen but hey, it's St Louis. Plenty offered here for a quick satisfying bite. The bulgogi steak tacos were stuffed to the brim, yum! And while here, don't pass on the restrooms...they will bring you back in time to the West Village, NYC circa 1979!

A go to place for me in St. Louis when I lived here so I try to visit when I am back in town. Service is usually quick and the food is always good. I get the chicken quesadilla with no sauce and no greens with chips and queso. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Spicy pork burrito

Seoul Taco is one of my favorite places to go if I want a quick, easy, and filling meal. I especially like the spicy pork burrito and gogi bowls. I always ask for the sauces on the side in the burrito (Seoul sauce, wasabi mayo, and sour cream) and then add the sauce afterward. If I'm not super hungry the burrito could definitely last for two meals. My friend got the sweet potato waffle fries and we were pleasantly surprised by how good they were! They came with Seoul sauce and were very crispy and fresh. Service was fast, and there is plenty of seating in the restaurant. Our table was a little dirty but it's more of a self-service where you clean your own table and put your trays in the return area. I'll definitely be back!

My visit the other night was just okay. I ordered the chicken tacos and a side of sweet potato fries that I shared with my friend. My friend ordered a bowl with salad and chicken. While the food came out quick, I can't say that it tasted very fresh and the chicken was really tough. I also had to throw a taco away because I saw a bug crawling in it....no idea if bugs were in the other tacos, but I had already eaten them so oops! The booths were all messed up and some of the seating was torn which made the space look old and outdated. I think the vibe could be better, but I was just not sure what was happening that night. It was dimly lit and the service was just okay. Not sure if the guy working to take our order wanted to be there. Overall, I think this was just "meh" and I am not sure I want to go back.

Kimchi Slaw

What's not to like. Soul taco is amazing. If you like Korean food and tacos, you will be in pure heaven. If you don't... you will be in pure heaven. Try the kimchi slaw! The tacos are top-tier. A must try when visiting the Delmar Loop.

Elote quesadilla and Kimchi slaw
Jen M.

Everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences, and I really admire a person who works hard to share their experiences with others. I loved reading about the history of this small St Louis-based regional chain. I got the elote quesadilla and my husband and daughter got...other quesadillas. We usually try to try different things. I wish we would have but anyway, sometimes we fail. I was not super thrilled with my elote quesadilla. I liked my daughter's beef one better. I was more happy with my kimchi slaw. My daughter found her quesadilla to be harder to eat and messier than expected due to the way the sauces had been squirted on the top. I wouldn't mind trying more things on the menu, the items sound inventive and interesting. Unfortunately it's not at all a pleasant space to be in. It's quite a large area but is mostly empty. The chairs are not comfortable, the bench is worse. Broken and worn down. Tables are sticky and wobbly. They put some effort into decorating, otherwise, but it's just not a nice place to be. They have a constant loop playing LOUD. A thumping bass beat. None of us liked the sound at all, to the point that it would prevent us from returning here when we come back in town. Between the bad seating and the loud annoying sound, it really felt like they were trying to chase us out. Well, it worked. Maybe if they wanted to be sure people wouldn't be lingering at all the tables, they could just add more tables?

Gogi Bowl with Chicken, Cup of Queso, Kimchi Slaw
Cleo G.

This place intrigued me. If a Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant doesn't entice you, I don't know what will. In terms of vibes, it's very casual. You walk up to the counter, order, and sit down to wait. There is a lot of seating though so I wouldn't worry about not finding a seat. One thing I wanted to note was that the server at the counter was so kind and offered to let us taste the kimchi slaw and kimchi fried rice before we ordered them. That right there is good service and a really nice touch. We ordered 2 gogi bowls with chicken, one with regular rice and one with kimchi fried rice. We also got a cup of Queso and a side of kimchi slaw. It took longer than we thought for the food to come out but it wasn't an atrocious amount of time. Just something to keep in mind, because it wasn't that busy when we were there. Gogi Bowl with chicken: Very good. The egg yolk is perfectly runny, the chicken is super flavorful and a really nice texture, it comes with lots of veggies (which we were craving), and has a Korean inspired sauce in it. You also get a side of gochujang with the bowl but in my opinion, there needs to be more flavor coming from the first sauce or other sauces. But it was still SO good, especially because I added the queso on top of mine to really seal in that Mexican aspect of it, and I highly recommend that. If you want extra spice and flavor, I'd definitely opt for the kimchi fried rice as your base instead of the white rice, but the white rice lets the other flavors shine more so it really is a personal choice. Kimchi Slaw: Highly highly recommend!!! Absolutely delicious. Wasn't super kimchi forward, but as someone who loves slaw and vinegar and Asian flavors, it really hit the spot. A great way to add more flavor to your bowl as well. Queso: Your standard queso, nothing too special, but gave great flavor and added nuance to the very Korean centric bowl. We didn't try the burrito or the tacos but that's something I'd look into next time!!

It's more like 2.7 stars This place has gone down. It was one of my fav spots to grab something quick. Back home and decided to stop in, I first went to the Grove location but the girl who I'm assuming was the cook was back there eating tacos talking on her phone(thru earpiece) it didn't feel clean so I decided to leave. My friend mentioned there was a location in the Loop. Now I thought that location had closed well it did but they moved over to another spot in the Loop. Walked in was immediately greeted. I liked the cashier's energy. Ordered a bowl that came out really quick. We left I opened box in the car and although the presentation looked good, the taste wasn't. It was bland and didn't seem fresh. The "hot" sauce was at the very bottom, and it was very little of it. Nothing at all how it used to be. I hate to say it, but this was probably my last visit. I must mention that the Grove location was completely empty, and Loop had 2 people dining in. That says alot!

3 Tacos (sampler - pork, steak, chicken)
Sarah M.

Ordered delivery from Seoul Taco this week - it is delicious! My friend and I both got three tacos sampler (chicken, steak, pork). They were all SO good. We both thought the pork was the best by a little, then steak and chicken, but all were almost perfect, despite being delivery which would typically be a bit lower quality. We also got chips and queso which were good. The portion sizes were perfect for the tacos! Can't wait to go again soon!

I'm Korean and grew up with Korean food in Chicago, so I know what the real thing tastes like, and this is the real thing. I got the soondae stew and it completely hit the spot. The flavor profile was so authentic and satisfying!! Came out boiling still, so fresh. The banchan selection was great too and the waitress was really sweet about bringing more if you wanted. My only small note is that I wished the side dishes came out a little earlier rather than alongside the main food, because I was starving by the time everything arrived! But that's a minor thing. There's also a karaoke spot right next door that I heard gets pretty lively at night. I haven't made it over there yet but that is absolutely next on my list.

There are also karaoke rooms in back -- we didn't try them this time ... But maybe next time. Everyone left totally full and satisfied.

I liked the art on the walls and the K-pop playing. On to the menu.... The All You Can Eat (AYCE) selection at WUDON is not AYCE. Unlike all AYCE KBBQ restaurants, WUDON limits selective items that you can order more than once. At AYCE sushi or other BBQs, once you select AYCE, everything can be ordered as much as you want. To top it off, you are required to share a soup, a pancake, and steamed egg. I was disappointed to find that you had to share those items and could not order more. Not exactly "all you can eat". And, like other reviewers, the galbi, or short rib, platter is a one-time order deal. That's..... unheard of for a $28.99 AYCE weekend lunch. St. Louis does not have many Asian cuisine options, especially Korean, so I always try to be understanding if the quality or service isn't the best. My issue is that they should not call a menu selection "all you can eat" if there are contingencies on how many times you can order certain items. I would pay $15 for All you can eat here, not $30+. If you are looking for a first time experience doing AYCE KBBQ in St. Louis, by all means, try WUDON. Since LA, NY, and Chicago are too far to get AYCE KBBQ that is worth it, WUDON is the next (somewhat good) choice.

TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.
