Even thought this IS my favorite place to shop, I would not normally write a review for a chain store because...it's a chain store. But I had to shout out TJ MAxx for my most recent experience. I LOVE this TJ MAxx and I usually do my once a year splurge here where I leave with BAGS of clothes and accessories yet still stay well in the 3-digit mark, and leave feeling very smart and victorious. What I did not expect was similar victory on my latest rushed visit. I was going to my cousin's wedding the next day and had nothing the family hadn't already seen. This is when I normally head to Macy's or Nordy's for the I-will-probably-spend-too-much but at-least-I-will-find-something purchase. But since I was in Walnut Creek I decided to run in to my favorite spot. Found the perfect dress, shoes and earrings in under 30 minutes (in the runway section) at an amazing price (though more than I normally spend there). And I got so many compliments on this dress too. Great store ! I just Recently started shopping at this TJ Maxx and I'm so happy that I actually came here! The staff are really friendly and I found a few good things that I haven't been able to find other places. I love that this TJ Maxx is kind of hidden away and in its own little area. Unhappy with the service, they don't offer to call other stores for an item for customers whereas the Pleasant Hill and Concord stores do not hesitate. Simple tasks as such would be more inviting. So disappointed. read more

People rave about this TJ Maxx, but I don't think that it's as special as people say. They have very few baby clothes, which is my main reason for shopping at TJ Maxx. (After all, why pay big bucks for something my son will probably only wear a handful of times over 2-3 months?) At other "discount" stores, I typically find a lot of great baby clothes, but at this one, I only found ONE decent item. Now, normally I wouldn't even bother to stand in line to buy it, but that's the good news about this TJ Maxx: the line is practically non-existent on a weekday. Hands down the best TJMaxx I've visited. Was able to snag finds from Rag & Bone at awesome prices. Also saw some Miu Miu bags on display, designs weren't my favorite but could easily be someone else's. You can find a lot of high-end designers here and a lot of contemporary ones, as well. Sales associates at the Rheem, CA location have never encountered USD in $100 bill form. Instead of using a marker to check the veracity of MY money, the sales associate tried to run the bills through some time of machine multiple times. To add to my discomfort another sales associate, presumably a manager, also watched this transaction. The machine did not work, the sales associate needed to go to another register to "check" the money. Anyway, the check out stand is open- it was obvious what I was paying with and very embarrassing not to mention dangerous to flash the money that I tried to pay DISCRETELY with. Love this store. Not only do they carry the high end clothing, they have high end items for real cheap. The cashier and mod Rhonda showed me a Michael kors purse originally for $179.00 on sale for $69.00! They were great with their customer service. This store never fails to satisfy my bargain hunting urges. A large portion of my clothing/shoes have come from this store, with not much of a dent on the wallet! I prefer TJ Maxx (particularly the one at this location) to Ross because it's so well organized. This TJMaxx is the bomb! They have tons of designer clothing for cheap! I constantly see Seven for all mankind jeans, Joe's jeans, rock and republic, and true religion jeans for under $100 bucks...usually under $70! I have gotten a couple very cute dresses-Max Studio, for about 20 bucks each and you can't beat that. They often have very cute shoes and handbags-coach, Cole haan, imported Italian leather made...to die for! The kids section is nice and so is the housewares section. It would be easy to find a gift here and during the holidays they have tons of decorations and cards/wrapping paper for so cheap! I wish I still lived in Orinda so I could shop more at this TJMaxx! read more

Love this place! They have an amazing designer section with lots of designer jeans, tops, bags, etc. Everything is well organized, clean and easy to find. I came in here looking for a top to go out in but left with a ton more! (shirts, Ed Hardy clothing that was ALL clearanced,etc). Overall if you're looking for great deals on designer clothes or just nice clothes in general that aren't outrageously priced I would check out this TJ Maxx. Its definitely the BEST. They also have a decent collection of shoes, handbags, housewares, and childrens clothing that is worth checking out. read more

I live in Concord. Right down the street from the Concord store in fact but I drive all the way into Moraga to shop. I love this store. It is a dangerous thing to have this store 2 blocks from our home. Lots of good, bargain priced clothes, home goods etc. Yesterday I experienced something that I've never seen at a retail store. Ever. I was in line waiting to pay when the employee behind the counter started yelling at the customer. Later I found out that this certain customer was complaining about the lines and became verbally abusive to the tj maxx employee. Apparently she comes all the way from Dublin and shops here quite often and gives the same type of mean, attitude to the employees. This time she picked the wrong employee and he went off on her. It was kind of funny because she (customer) was acting like, what? me? what did I do? Go back to Dublin with your attitude lady. Bet she didn't think she'd get that kind of reaction in Moraga. read more

As a local this is where I get my shopping fix without going online for deals. The runway clothes are usually a great deal, just check the clothes careful for wear and tear. It's fun to try one expensive clothes without having to deal with snooty sales people :) Remember the return policy if you're in doubt and buy and take home until decide. read more

I love the Runway portion of this store for all the designer goods you can get for less than retail. I have purchased several handbags and a wallet that I just love. I have acquired so many high end designer clothing items over the years from the from their clearance racks. Lately, I have been checking out the skincare area and makeup and have purchased many designer brands such as ABH, Burberry, Clarins, Eve Lom, Boscia and more. This is my favorite of ALL TJ Maxx stores. They stock due to the demographics of the area, therefore this store gets lots of wonderful high end products at discount prices! The lady behind me was whining about the wait. I told her that's what you get for discount shopping, she wants her ass kissed, go to Nordies, pay full price. U can find very high end brands here for a good price. I wish they had a little more supply, but all in all, I enjoy coming here.

I went in there looking for cheap flip flops (or "go-aheads" as my drunk father used to call them) and came out with 2 items, none of which were footwear. One was a tube of amazing honeysuckle body creme from Italy. When I wear it, I am captivated by my own scent. The other item? A little zippered bag (of which I already have too many) in camouflage fabric (which I hate) supposedly crafted by none other than makeup-spackled Gwen Stefani (whom I think I loathe) and adorned with little Japanese inspired trinkets (which I find obnoxious). But when you put all these things together that I totally hate, you get an item that I inexplicably love. (It was also, like, $9). I don't understand the physics of it all, but it makes me wonder if I were to see Dick Cheney, Rene Zellweger, Tom Cruise and Ann Coulter in Ren Faire gear riding in a PT Cruiser while saying "cool beans" and eating strawberry ice cream and listening to Fallout Boy it would all add up to something super awesome that I would want to be a part of. Or not. But the moral of the story is: TJ to the Maxxxxxxx is awesome. read more
