Live for it. I have been going to TJMaxx since the 80s! I was a little kid and my mom was a fan. Now I'm in Chicago with 3 grown kids and I still love it. Vernon hills shop is ok. Taxes lower, great home and hair appliances, men's not bad. Basically good if it's all you've got. The Northbrook shop is a Runway and absolutely worth a visit. Good staff! They give you the time and the help, which we don't even expect here. Jewelry and home staff especially helpful. Evanston on Golf Rd. staff is not helpful at all, excepting the registers, where they are very friendly. The stock is great tho, especially women's. They always have some great true designer bags, not just Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren, as if we can't find good prices on those at Macy's. As if we wanted them! Tahari, Vince, Rag and Bone, Michael Kors (his dresses are good), and Nanette Lenore, just to name a few in the women's dept. Shoes include Rag and Bone, Paul Greene and more truly high end brands. Mens used to be full of surprises but now it's not unexpected, even if you do find designers. The housewares are great- you can find Krups and other appliances, as well as Sferra etc on occasion. Ample parking in their own lot. The line is not an issue, including when I go on the occasional Saturday, and Old Orchard Mall is 2 miles away with one of the BEST Nordstrom Rack stores right across the street.

Lazy, unfriendly employees, long checkout lines, just the worst retail experience....never going back.

I needed to find my bridal shoes and she needed to start looking at bridesmaids dresses. First of all, this is one of the prettiest Macy's I've ever been inside. I'm not sure if this is a normal big city thing, but feels like the entire store was just Macy's and not a mall which was cool. There seemed to be a lot of special deals on different items. Most of it was what you'd expect from a Macy's in terms of pricing. We had so much fun in the shoe section. They had a gorgeous selection of shoes to pick from. I ended up falling in love with some bridal shoes from Dolce Vita. I was so happy to be able to order them for pick up at my store back home so I didn't need to fly with them. We also tried on some other gorgeous shoes like ballet heels. In terms of formal dresses, it felt like they still mainly had their winter selection out, so we weren't able to find the exact green bridesmaid dress we were looking for, but we did get a good idea of what looked good vs what didn't. I highly recommend coming to this Macy's.

I came to kick off the holiday season with a little shopping and to see the window displays. I love how this year's holiday theme is dedicated to Marshall Field's. Ok the reason for the 2 star review. The customer service is horrible. The workers are rude and lack etiquette services to their customers I went over to the Dior counter and there was no one there. I was browsing around looking at the various colors of lipsticks. Finally pops up 2 young ladies who I thought came to assist me. No hello or friendly smiles. I ask to try on some lipstick. The frowns and attitude of these young ladies. I was pissed but refuse to allow that behavior disturb my peace. After trying on lipstick, I picked the color to purchase. We get to the counter and was told to swipe my card. Excuse Me. She didn't even ring up my items.. I asked her to scan my items and let me see the prices on the screen. She had the nerve to tell me that I first had to swipe my card. Non sense. I had just purchased some perfume from a different counter and didnt have to scan my card first. After she rung me up and I paid. I decide to return the items and walked away. I called Macy's customer service line and explained the unprofessional rudeness of their workers.

The first time I visited, hubs was with me and we just browsed the store. We were planning on getting lunch and stumbled across the marketplace cafe so decided to stop in. I also stopped at the cafe during my second visit with my dog! Nordstrom is pet friendly, as long as your dog is well mannered. I absolutely love that! This location has 4 floors. There are several designer boutiques on the 1st floor like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Faragamo, and Burberry. Every associate I interacted with each time was very friendly and welcoming. Some even gave treats and pets to my dog! My third visit was more quick. I had to return some items and that went smoothly. I actually interacted with the same associate I purchased the items from originally (Curvine S.) and she was so great! She was very helpful when I purchased the items since I left my Nordstrom card at home, and guided me how to use my card on the app. Great customer service at this location and I will definitely be back the next time I am in Chicago.

There's about three floors that are similar to a mall with multiple shopping areas and a food court. There is one sit down restaurant that has a huge bar and views over the river. If you're staying at the Holiday Inn downtown or the Voco downtown, there's a convenient walkway over the street so you don't even need to go outside. The food court has a huge variety of quick service restaurants: salads, barbecue, sushi, Chinese, sandwiches, and fried chicken. Multiple restaurants allow you to order food ahead and pick it up so you don't have to wait in long lines. Most of the building is office space so if you're here around 8 or 9 AM, lunchtime, or 4 to 6 PM, it's crazy busy. There are a couple entrances that have those rotating doors. My first morning here I was entering from the street level through one of those and a lady behind me came and pushed the door really fast. It was all I could do to step out the door without having to go around again. She then rushed by me and almost ran up the escalator. She must have been late for work compared to me, a wandering tourist. If you're in the area, check this place out.
