My wife wanted to come to this store because of Kristin Cavallari. I actually liked the store and all her products! The store is a great space and it was easy to look and shop all the items in the store. The staff were really friendly as well! We spent about an hour in the store and my wife bought about 10 things here. I was really surprised at how much all her items costs; not overly priced but not super cheap either. I felt everything was priced just right! I loved that she had a sofa, water bottles, and wine for her customers. After about 30 minutes of looking around I sat down, grabbed some water, and waited for my wife to finish shopping! LOL read more

Ok so I love their jewelry and I am glad I FINALLY got to attend a real, in person store instead of online. But man if I could stop knocking over things. I feel like I was stealing....like everything was so lightly hung on the jewelry stand and that's great but for crying out loud. I want to pick something up and like look at it. Not knock it over and have all the other people in the store look at me. I hate that and it always makes my shopping experience worse for really no reason at all. I enjoy the concept of hanging one piece of jewelry out to show - kind of like a car dealership, then you go back in and actually take home the piece that is packaged. On a busy day, this could become inconvenient. I could see this for their bigger pieces but for the the sale - I mean, phew. But then again with looting....I take it all back. Keep that stuff protected. Especially in Chicago. Super cute place, friendly staff, clean, welcoming...just kind of hoping for a little more maneuverability. Of course Ill be back :)( read more

I've been following Kristin Cavallari on Instagram for awhile (OG Hills fan here), but never realized there was an Uncommon James store in Chicago in addition to the Nashville location. While visiting Chicago last summer, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon the shop and decided to stop in. We were greeted right away and given the lowdown on the items -- you can try anything on that you'd like but I felt weird about trying on earrings, which is what I was looking for. I ended up getting a pair anyway because one of the girls working had them on and I thought they were really cute. My earlobes must be big or something because they're a little small (they wrap around your earlobe), but they're still cute. There's jewelry available at lots of different price points, so there's something for everyone in terms of cost. They also have some classic style pieces; it's not all just trendy items, which I appreciated. You can also browse their collection of some houseware items and kids clothing. The vibe inside the store is airy and bright with some Instagrammable features! I'm happy with my purchase and would stop in again next time I'm in the area at least to browse. read more

Obviously I'm here because of the show. I dont make it down to the West Loop very often, and certainly not for retail therapy. The space is super cute, very industrial chic (is that a design genre? I dont even know). All the jewelry is displayed...for try on. Yeah, this is a great idea in theory, but I am not about to try on earrings that have been through anyone else's ear holes. The Little James area is way bigger than I thought it was going to be, and the Kitchen James area is smaller (I just made up that sub-brand, I doubt she calls it Kitchen James). I got a candle (smells awesome) and a hair fragrance (also smells awesome). I havent heard great reviews on the jewelry, and frankly, I'm not pretty or young to wear any of it. I was so excited when UJ came to Chicago! I am a fan from instagram and was so eager to buy come cute goodies for myself, as gifts, and some little james clothing for my future baby girl! This store is right in the heart for west loop, it is super cute, easily accessible, and plenty of parking. There were so many friendly store sales girls inside that were knowledgeable of the line and products. Its a good size and they have most of the UJ jewelry (earrings, ear cuffs, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and more) mostly gold, homegoods, and little james outfits that are featured on Ig. First off, very easy to park. I really was not sure what to buy since I was looking for a Christmas gift. Was greeted by very friendly staff that actually helped me pick out a few purchases and even helped me with sizes. I have been to both the Nashville and Chicago locations of Uncommon James. I am definitely partial to the Chicago one. First of all, this store is GORGEOUS! So easy on the eyes. The color palette that Kristin selected is absolutely perfect. It's inviting, girls, but also simplistic enough to let the jewelry do the talking. The store is spaced out nicely. When you walk in immediately, the newest collection is showcased. To the left, you can find some home items such as kitchen utensils, candles, etc. Every time I come, I receive really great service by all the employees. I am greeted, but I am not followed around and annoyed through my whole visit like some stores. If I have questions, they're all answered by the staff. They are happy to help you try on items, suggest combos of pieces, and show you what they wear on themselves. Always a great experience at UJ! Even though ordering online is more convenient than coming here, I really prefer coming in person because I love this store read more

I bought Beauty products on 05/22/2023. I unfortunately do not have the confirmation # or order # anymore. I recently discovered mold on the container for my face wash. I contacted the merchant and I provided pictures. They offered to give me a 10% discount on my next purchase, which is unacceptable. I spent over $200 on their products, so I expect it to be high quality. I understand that their refund policies are on their website, but they told me that I must have not been closing the container correctly and that is why it has mold. One does not have to be a brain surgeon to know how to close the container correctly. And again, we are talking about mold. Something that could affect my health since I am allergic to it and was putting it on my face. So disgusted with the fact that even if it affects the health of their customer, they won't take ownership. read more

I ordered some jewelry from UJ on cyber Monday and took a chance. I was already frustrated that it took two weeks to arrive, but the icing on the cake was the condition that it arrived in. Already tarnished right out of the box. For the original price point these are being sold for and the quality it actually is, I feel ripped off. Fortunately, I live in the west loop, so I was able to find time to return the item in person. There was a girl in front of me returning an item that had already broke after one time wearing it. When I returned my order, there wasn't any concern from the employee over its condition. I'm not one to usually write publicly to bash a company, but I'm so disappointed in this experience, especially with the high prices the jewelry is going for. I was super excited to hear that Uncommon James opened in Chicago. My friend and I decided to have a brunch and shopping day all because of it! The jewelry is just as cute in person as it is online. I absolutely loved the rings and earrings. It was actually really hard to not go overboard and spend hoards of money. I would describe the jewelry to be good for everyday wear, an evening out, or even a Sunday Funday. Definitely worth checking out. The only downside is that I unfortunately was given the wrong pair of earrings and have to find time to go back in the store to exchange them for the pair I wanted. My friend had purchased some cute baby pants, which the patch was coming off after 2 hours of wear. They exchanged it with no problem, so I feel hopeful that I shouldn't have an issue myself. The biggest challenge will be not buying even more stuff! read more

Very affordable pieces and super cute baby clothing. The aesthetic of the boutique is very charming and whimsical, we felt like influencers in there. Workers weren't pushy at all and very friendly. It was the grand opening so it was crowded but I'm sure it'll die down. I bought a huge candle, Secret Rose, it's the one they had burning in the store. Floral, vetiver and sandalwood. Stopped by today to buy some jewelery for my wife. Such a nice collection to choose from. However, I was most impressed by the staff. As I waited in line to check out, I observed the customer in front of me being extremely rude and unreasonable to a staff member, I think her name was Stacy? Steph? Anyway, this woman was being outrageously cruel about her gift card that didn't have money on it as the staff was just trying to do their best to resolve the situation. It was obscene. It astonishes me that people can be so unkind, especially during a pandemic. Anyway, I was impressed with how well she handled it. If it were me working I would have slapped her. LOL. The merchandise for sale is nice, and the prices are fairly reasonable. However, the atmosphere in the shop is unfriendly and awkward. It's nice that the staff doesn't hover right behind you while you shop, but when I was there they were hanging together near the register staring at the customers like a middle school clique. All blonde, all in black. Guess diversity hasn't hit Fulton Market. There were 4 employees in the small shop, watching everyone carefully. They seem possibly concerned about theft. A friendlier, more open feeling would be welcome. read more

This is a complaint for the the online store. Customer service sucks. They say 3-5 business days to process before shipping. Order some jewelry for the wife on 09/07, and as of 09/20 have yet to receive any notification on processing or shipping. Left emails and voicemails that they have not responded to. If this is how they do business I can't see this company surviving. read more

I went to Chicago to visit this store and bought some cute hoops. When I got home a part of the hoops after a month had come lose. I contacted customer service and they were AMAZING. Victoria was super helpful, it was easy for them to find my purchase and then ship me a new pair free of charge since I don't live close to a store. They were apologetic and super helpful. Being in corporate retail myself good guest experience is important and hard to find in this digital age. That will take this brand far. I love these products, I really do. I have many many items, but will not shop there anymore. The customer service when trying to get a $24.00 store credit to spend in their store was absolutely the worst I have ever had. Purchased a necklace for $58.00 a couple days later the same necklace was on sale for $34.00; asked for store credit (basically I had other items I wished to purchase), was told no, without a real reason, except "we can't". Did not get a final response until the return policy date was expired, so now I cannot return the item either. There are too many stores out there where I can spend my money, if $24.00 is too much for a store to accommodate then, I can find what I need somewhere else. At the end of the day, it is not about the money, but about the terrible responses and lack of wanting to keep a customer. read more

The store is really cool. Everything from Purses to Children's books. People were also great (aka smoking hott... uhhh... I hope Mal doesn't read this probably should delete or just keep going.... ahhh at any rate). The candle I bought was something like $80 and was guaranteed to burn 365 hours. To preface, I really wasn't sure if that was a long time. But I went with it. That was November. It's February. It's days from toasted. It's aaaaiiiii'm really not sure if actually burned for a full 365 hours. I really felt like 365 hours implied it would last a whole year. It's February now and my annual candle budget is blown. If we run out of power, I can't even watch TV by candlelight. Overall, I give it a Two Mic Shout which is out of three (Destiny's Child, LFO, and 98o scoring system... I just came back from a trip to the store. I was looking for earrings (a birthday gift for a friend), and the ladies in the store were very nice. They greeted me and asked if I had ever been in the store. I said it was my first time and they let me know that everything on the floor can be tried on and I can let them know what I would like so they could get a new piece for purchase. I asked if there was any format to the store (since I was looking for earrings), I didn't know if there was an earring section. They said that it was all spread out, so I browsed the store. The pieces were very simple and elegant. I had found some earrings that I liked, and asked if they had them in the rose gold color, but they did not. So, I got the gold color Park Avenue earrings. They can be worn with anything. I like that ALL the jewelry can be worn with anything. I think this place is great for gifts. I would not normally spend so much on earrings for myself, but for others, the price points are fine :) I am looking forward to see more selections!
