I've been here twice since the new ownership. I have to say the owners are very nice and the place seems clean but those are my only reasons for 1 star. I went this Sunday as soon as they opened. I don't get mani/pedis often but wanted to treat myself after a long week. Maybe I t just seems that I draw the inexperienced Male manicurist...or was this an uncle that got pulled in because they were short handed. He was very ruff with his massage, which I asked him 2 times not to dig his thumbs into my ankle bone...that's not a massage. Massage the balls of my feet and my legs! He proceeded to be quick and fast, like he was racing the manicurist next to him, so his massage was like a brush burn by the time he was finished. He had long nails which dig into my skin as he massaged. Why is it when they are working on the heels of your feet for calluses they use the sanding brick in the arch of my foot....excuse me but the arch has the softest skin and there are no calluses there...Geez, that hurts. When painting my toes he used his long sharp nails to clean up polish on my skin, Really! After doing my nails he wasn't skilled at putting on those flip flops either...be botched 2 nails and I had to sit thru him painting all over again. Needless to say it wasn't relaxing. I wanted to walk out...but my feet were held hostage. I told the owner of my experience and she told me to come back for another pedi and offered $10 off the next visit....NO THANK You. There are tons of other nail salons I can go to with better service. If you are in the service industry you should speak the language, communicate better than a GRUNT, and when your patron asked you to be softer on the massage ...listen to them...oh wait...you just weren't able to understand because you didn't speak the language !‍ Never again. read more

This is my.favorite mail salon in the area! The.people are very nice and I love their pedicures! I have had pink and white tips, basic manicure, and a few different pedicures. I get the deluxe pedicure (one up from basic) where they use a scrub and it's great! They also dip your feet in wax after every pedicure! It makes your feet so soft! This was my third time getting my nails done here and I really love their gel manicures. They last a long time, have a good color selection and are fairly priced. The workers are super kind and friendly, and they even went super fast when they knew I had to leave soon to go to an event. I will for sure be coming back again in the future! read more

I came to this shop after having a tech move away from another shop I went to. Its very hard to make a change after several years of going to one. I took a chance and went to Tips and Toes. Wow! is all I can say, for my first visit with Cindy, both her and her husband were so nice and made sure I was taken care of. Cindy did an awesome job! Will be a customer for sure. I had been going to another shop in Cameron park and wasnt happy. So I decided to try here. What a great change. My mom and I just walked in and they were super attentive and great. Have to leave an honest comment and warning. Had a walk in pedi yesterday, this salon is not clean, cabinets, walls, bathroom etc. overall messy and in serious need of cleaning. Makes me worry about their Patron hygiene and safety. It's just shabby and run down, used to be nice but has been on a downward spiral. I will never come back here. I've been getting gel manicures for awhile and sometimes they last and sometimes they don't...I went to Tips and Toes and they did a great job! It has lasted, it is still shiny, and it was only $20. My nieces got their nails painted with flowers and they were adorable! Everyone was ohhhing and aghhhing and telling them how pretty they were...very friendly! read more

Susan is the best. Took me as a walk-in to repair a chip. She was concerned about the lack of quality I had been receiving and decided to redo all of my gel tips but only charged me for the repair and repaint. Now my daughter and I both switched and we see her regularly. She's funny, friendly and best of all incredibly talented. read more

Tried this salon for the first time today. Very nice experience. I called for last minute appointment and they were able to accommodate me. Needed a fill and nail repair. There were several clients but it was still quiet with relaxing music. Staff were all very friendly, polite, and courteous. She was gentle and careful. My nails look great. My daughter and daughter in law went in today and my daughter came home very dissatisfied. She had explained to me that she told the Asian lady with glasses, that sits at the first station to the the left today around 3 or 4, that after on the 3 nail she told nal tech that its not right how it was looking with the colors she asked for. She told my daughter that it wasnt easy job doing what my daughter asked of her and insisted the rest will look better. They did not and my daughter felt she had already mentioned she was dissatisfied . Of course she was not expecting a full refund but at least half of $70 they were gonna charge her. They agreed upon $50 which they charged $55.50 . $5.50 tip... If she was dissatisfied and take $20 off due to that. They should not still help themselves to a tip. So I return back with my daughter because I do have knowledge from going to cosmetology school. Immediately they recognize my daughter and the owner approaches her to step in between as his employee hopped out of her station while in the middle of doing a customers set and started yelling at my daughter. We brought bach the receipt and showed them and he compared it to theirs copy. Showed the same price. So he said it not on their end. Explained to him and showed them my daughters bank statement saying her card was charged $66.60. She ask why to the agent she spoke to for customer service for her bank and they told ber it said a $15.00 tip was added. My daughter said she seen the lady swipe her card twice. The lady again jumped up yelling so I mentiined to owner that. That employee is not good customer service. So I proceeded to ask her if I can see her nail tech license. Immediately attitudes changed, the lady became very apologetic and the owner quickly said ok so how much do I owe you. We wouldve like a full refund because she had already told the lady she wasn't satisfied before she finished one hand. Still did not do any better on the other as she said it would be originally we just wanted the extra tip that was charged that only her bank statement showed and not the receipts that were printed. And everytime I mentioned wanting to see the ladies license he got louder and was trying to rush us out. So we got the $15 back. Now I'm wondering if they are somehow charging for the services which they print receipt for both you and them, but somehow after reciept for customer is printed was able to add the $15 to the same transaction which would only appear on your bank statement because they already printed the receipt for customeqr and them, leading them, the customer to believe that's all that was charged. Anyone who has ever gotten any service done here. Please check your bank statement and match it with the price on your receipt. I believe you'll see that the ststement charges do not reflect the same as the receipts. Aside from very bad customer service from only that specific employee, I believe they are doing an extra charge to the same transation which would only appear as one on you statement if they are double swiping. I will be investigating more on this matter of being charged a tip that don't appear on reciept, and show on bank statement as 1 transaction. And I will be especially following up on making sure everyone at this shop is licensed. My teenager and her friends were treated very poorly at this shop. They are a nice group of girls, not trouble makers, and they were treated like they were not welcome. The shop even tried to charge my daughter a ten dollar service fee to use a visa gift card from her grandmother. I'm so happy the girls didn't leave a tip. I've been going here for a few years on and off since I moved here. Mostly nice people but if you want some one who will be really chatty with you you're out of luck unless you get Susan. She's the nicest one in there, the most social and is the best with designs so I would make an appointment with her if that's what you want. They can usually get you in right away and have pretty good prices. They'll charge you .75 cents to use a credit card but they do have an ATM. All the people in there are really nice and the place Is sanitary. If you're going in there for an eye brow waxing it's 10 dollars but sometimes you don't really get what you want so I would pay the extra money to go some where else. Their acrylics last a pretty long time and they have a wide assortment of glitters and polishes although they charge you to make tips instead of a while nail covered in glitter or polish. Also 5 dollars for a gel top coat. Their menu is hard to read so I always ask about their prices personally. Like I said earlier most of them aren't very social but they're nice. They sound rude over the phone usually but it kind of depends who you talk to. I've never gotten a petticure from there but from what I can tell they do a pretty good job. Best nail salon in the area, and I've tried them all! I've had acrylic nails for over 20 years, so I know when someone has done a good job and when they haven't. Cindy and Tony are the best. Great service and high qualty work. Nails last me a good 3 weeks - sometime 4 - before fading or chipping. On the few occasions over the years that I've tried a different salon, I've been very disappointed. I've been going to this salon since it opened (and to Tony and Cindy when they were at a different salon even before that). Never had a problem- I've always been happy with my nails. Pedicures run from very good to great depending on who you get. There are 3 price ranges. My favorite is the middle one - extra long massage and an exfoliating scrub. The delux is great, but takes a little too long for me, but if you have the time go for it. Parafin wax comes with all 3 prices. Definitely worth it. Cindy does my eyebrows and does a fantastic job. I read the review from the other customer that wasn't happy. That's unfortunate, because I've always been very pleased with the time she takes and the job she does. Prices at this salon are very reasonable, and they take extra care to make sure that everything is sanitary. The place is always busy, but they do a great job of squeezing all the walkins into their schedule. I recommend this salon to all of my friends. read more

I think Tips N Toes is the best place to go for gel nails. I can get a good 5 weeks out of them! I have even stretched it to 6 weeks if I have been out of town!! I used this place and specifically Tony for years. Followed them from up the street and then here. I also used Jenny for my pedicure. She was the best I had ever found. When I came in I was shocked to learn she was no longer there because she had breast cancer and moved to Florida to be with her sister who could help her. Tony told this to me. I've come there a couple times before and I've had a good experience in the past times i went but today when i went to go have my nails done here i was a bit disappointed..i wanted to get a full set of acrylic nails and chose my color and everything and decided on the gel colors and the lady who worked on my nails was VERY rough... when she was sandblasting my nails she scrapped up my cuticles and when she filed my nails she ended up slicing my thumb open it was a minor cut but it still hurt.. and when she painted my nails the polish was not the shade of purple i was hoping for it looked like a light pink (not sure if that was her fault or not) i would've liked a discount or something for slicing my finger with her nail file.. don't know if I'll be coming back. read more

New in town and decided to try this place on a whim because I was in desperate need of a pedi. They took me right away (late on a weekday). I was pleasantly impressed with their color selection and how attentive they were. Halfway through they asked what type of pedi I wanted (not having a menu or price list and it being my first time I said basic). The massage was okay. I've had better but it was decent. However the lady with next to me received a massage three times in length then the one I did. What's weird is the massage was done before cutting the cuticles. The lady was a little too gentle. I want to feel the dead skin being scrubbed off and not gently brushed. Didn't get the paraffin that other reviewers mentioned (does it not come with the basic?). The design I asked for I got. And she took care to make it symmetrical which I really like. And she even added bling which I didn't ask for. Overall I'm content with everything. It's still not as good/fancy as the place in Rancho Cordova. Update: I was disappointed that the price is $5 more then any other pedicure I have gotten. For the extra cost this place was NOT worthwhile. And two days later my polish chipped bad. I can make the polish on my toes last 3-4 weeks so to have it chip on multiple toes in days is pathetic. Sad to say I won't be stepping foot in to this business after being a loyal customer for a little over 4 years. The owners scammed my friend by making a bogus photo copy of her check then telling her it didn't go through the bank when it indeed it did. The check was a really nice photo copy even cut out like a check it look like the real check but it wasn't. It was indeed a check scam to get more money. My trusting friend paid the check again thinking they were telling the truth when indeed the check had already gone through her bank. She took the bank statement with the check listed as going through her account when she confronted them. They continued to lie and would not refund her money. So she called the El Dorado county Sheriff reported the incident and within 20 minutes the Sheriff met her at the business to assist her in getting her money back. At first they refused but with the sheriff there the owners gave her back her money that was owed to her ! How can someone run a business and scam their paying customers? I am appalled!!! Acted surprised when we opened our wallet and revealed the large amount of hundreds within it. To me this establishment was a joke and I will not be returning. Where do I start. Called at 12pm to ask if they had time for myself for a fill, and a manicure for my daughter. They said to come in 20 mins. We showed up at 1220 and were told to wait 10 mins. Ok, no big deal. We ended up waiting about an hour, and finally I was taken over to start my nails. About 5 minutes in, a lady walks in and says she has an appt at 130. They said they tried to call her but didnt have her number. She says she has a baby at home and cant wait. So, they tell ME to wait. I really felt like I had no choice. It was unfair because I also had an appt, had already waited an hour, AND had my 7 yr old daughter with me. Anyway, finally about an hour later, they had me come back and finished my nails. I was done at around 240ish? They did my daughters nails with gel polish but didnt realize, and had her sit in the fan for like 10 mins. They told me she was dry and good to go. I barely touched one of her nails, and it came right OFF! They then fixed it and had it cured with the light and we finally left at 3:10! So, 2 hours and 50 minutes later, with just a fill and a gel manicure, we were done. I will say, they did not charge for my daughters manicure for the inconvenience. I did appreciate that but still felt so overlooked and like they did not care about me. read more

Today @ 11:30 am went in to have my gel nails removed (just wanted them to breath a little). The co-owner, Cindy, has a complete emotional meltdown and starts crying and screaming about her husband, Tony, also co-owner. It was awful....she is talking to her clients about how hard she works and how terrible her husband of 16 yrs. is and literally ranting and crying in front of clients and staff for at least 15 minutes. I started going there to get pedicures done, always enjoyed them. Then I started going here for fiberglass nails. I have never had problems until the last 3 times I went. I tried giving them more chances but I will not spend money there anymore. Recently 2 young girls have joined their working staff. I got one of the young ones and she did my fiber glass nails. She did a terrible job. While she was doing it she didn't even look like she knew what she was doing. I went back no longer than a week later (which fiberglass sets should last 2-3 weeks). They were also very uneven. When I went back I got the main dude, he did my nails and told me they were done terribly and redid them. On Saturday I went back to get a fill and also get a pedicure. They started with the pedicure first and it seemed very rushed and not relaxing. After, they did my fill and guess who I got.. the young girl. It made me mad because the main guy knew I had problems with my nails last time I got them done by her, yet he has her do them again. I decided not to say anything and give her another try (my mistake). She started to use the filing machine and it was burning my fingers, I told her and she giggled and tried to "fix it". I continued to complain that it was burning my fingers and finally one of the ladies walked over to check things out, she informed her that the file thing was too old and needed to be replaced. So it gets changed. I decided to get glitter tips and she didn't seem confident in doing so. As she was putting it on I noticed she wasn't making the glitter even on each nail, some of them were barely covering the nail. I asked her nicely to please put more glitter on my nails. Her response was "you chose to big of glitter so it won't spread". I was heated after this and responded back "well that's funny, I've never had a problem where they couldn't before". She said nothing and ended up putting more glitter on. Then to top it all off she took about 2 hours to do my nails, my sister had come along and was appalled at the time circumstance. My big question is do these young girls even have their licenses and certifications to preform nail work, if so I'd like to see. NEVER GOING BACK! read more

What ever you do, so not get any services with Tonya. I am a licensed cosmetologist and my sister in law works for the state board. She was sloppy, inefficient, rude, and in a hurry when she saw her "regular" walk in, she rushed through my service, so even though I started 10 minutes after my mother and daughter, I was finished first. She left my toes uneven, calloused with polish on the cuticle. I didn't bother to complain however, until they handed my 16 year old over to her for a brow wax and she did a terrible job. I quietly asked her if she could even it out and she refused, she said she would let it grow out. When I told her I had my license and I know how to do it, it wasn't even, she offered my money back, but still insisted she couldn't fix it. The only reason I hadn't done myself, is because my husband is in the Navy and we are moving to Spain, so all of my equipment has shipped ahead. Wow, I am absolutely displeased by this nail salon. The lady that did my acrylic nails cut me at least eight times. She was very rude and gave me a dirty look every time I asked her to do something I.e. shaving down my nails more, asking to cut them shorter etc. each time she cut me, I jerked back because it hurt and she got angry with me. These people, or at least this one woman that works there (didn't catch her name) needs to learn how to do their job. Oh and by the way my nails look like shit, definitely not coming here again. If I could give this place less than one star I would. I looked online for good nail places and I just moved to the area I took my mom for her birthday. Being a cosmetologist I am extra conscious of bacteria and sanitation in nail salons. They have to be one of the worst most dirtiest places I've ever seen. if I wasn't with my mother I would have just walked out. I got a gel manicure and a pedicure my mom a pedicure. The man that did my gel manicure I was shaking the whole time and I'm pretty sure he was new. But he should know that alcohol does not sanitize your implements. I somehow proceeded onto the pedicure and the lady use scrub on the top of my feet and it hurts so bad I kept telling her not to scrub the top of my feet they got so red I told her just to skip the scrub. There was an advertisement online for $15 gel manicure I showed her and she called the owner sandy. Sandy looked at the ad and said her husband never posted that and she's not going to give her gel manicures away for $15. She told me if I felt she was a liar then I don't need to come back. I for some reason paid them because I didn't want to make a scene but I've never been so rudely spoken to in my life. I will never be back she can count on that. PS my gel manicure lasted less than a week and I paid the full $30. read more
