Tio's Café is spacious with bar, table, booth seating. Breakfast & lunch but used to serve dinners back in the day. Basic American diner with Mexican accents. 1) Machaca Burrito: Nice, stretchy, taut, flour tortilla surrounding home fry potatoes, that doesn't have crispiness from being cooked on a steel grill, bits of Res Deshebrada/shredded beef, green bellpepper, tomato, onion, eggs sautéed together. Steak Knife stabbed into the center of the Burrito for dramatic effect. It was like the final coup de grâce at a bull fighting ring. Loose, watery Salsa is cooked with onions, green chiles, tomato, touch of vinegar. Wish there was more pronounced garlic component for more allium earthiness, touch of oregano for smoky, green tar herbal tone. 2) Another time, had bland, goopy Pot Roast that had bits of beef, mushrooms, carrot, onion in a brown gravy that lacked Umami and had way too much corn starch thickener. Substituted Mashed Potato with Frijoles de Pinto sprinkled with faux parmesan. Steamed broccoli that seemed coated with a bit of mayonnaise. Tortilla de Maís went well to scoop up this wet dinner. 3) Crispy on the outside, creamier on the inside fried Churros with sprinkling of sugar, cinnamon, cajeta/caramel. Scoop of vanilla ice cream, whip cream. 3a) Standard Iced Tea No wow moment of culinary excitement, but food here is stolidly competent, consistent, Prices are good. Our waiter was happy and congenial. 3+ stars

Breakfast is delicious. Staff was nice and attentive. I tried the home sausage omelette and it was huge and just full of yummy toppings. Home fries are crispy on the outside and soft inside. Their coffee taste so good. The chorizo omelette is very taste. Their breakfast burritos are huge like huge and just so delicious and filling. Definitely a great breakfast spot. It has some outdoor seating as well as a lot of indoor seating. Location is cleaned and organized.

A great spot for a comfort meal. Came here with my mom for breakfast and really enjoyed everything; from the food to the experience. The restaurant is of good size and has plenty of tables plus a bar you can sit at as well. Their coffee is really good and served in mugs that are quite big which is nice. They have a lot of options on their menu but I went with a traditional breakfast plate that comes with two eggs, sausage or bacon (I chose bacon), house potatoes and toast (I ordered an English muffin) other plates come with different variations of this. My mom got something similar but with bacon instead of sausage and pancakes instead of potatoes. The food came out really quick and was delicious! They have plenty of condiments already at the table for you to use. Or waiter was friendly and I never saw the bottom of the my coffee mug! The pancakes are oh so fluffy and delicious by the way! I'm excited to goa and try their lunch menu. They also have beer and wine as well to enjoy later on in the day.

Glad that I didn't let the bland front entrance deter me from trying Tio's Cafe. Once inside, a warm, clean environment waited for us. Dear Hubby told me that he'd stopped in a couple of times when he had been in the area, but our recent visit was my first time. It's wider and deeper inside than I expected. It boasts a diner-style counter, which is convenient for those dining alone. A number of comfortable booth-style tables fill most of the dining room. Several TVs also line the walls on two sides, along with vintage-look canvas photos to add to the ambiance. There's not a true theme to the decor, but it provides a low-key comfortable atmosphere. It appears spotlessly clean. Our server was prompt, helpful, and kept checking on us. Five stars for him! I knocked off a star as the food was on the bland side. I guess it's not the right season of the year for flavorful, juicy tomatoes. The "T" in my BLT was not memorable, which brought down the whole sandwich. Bacon was well-prepared and generous. The fries were hot but also bland. I'd had better ones recently at Arby's, of all places. I often sub for fries, but I was in the mood to order them, and Tio's didn't quite hit the spot. They did have other options, including onion rings, sweet potato fries, side salad, cottage cheese, etc. Their menu is quite extensive, and they serve breakfast all day, except for waffles. We will definitely return to try other items that vary from their fitness selections to sandwiches / burgers, and comfort-food choices. When we first arrived just after 5:00, we almost had the place to ourselves, but by the time we were finishing, the interior was filling in nicely. Happy to support a local indy restaurant!

Absolutely the best breakfast place EVER!!! Large portions (I had the turkey sausage and eggs) Tip #1: Get the carrot muffin instead of toast - no extra cost and they are excellent (we bought two to go for a quick breakfast during the week @ $1.50 each) the house Salsa is hot, very spicy and great on the eggs. The Potatoes and bell peppers and onion were fresh, and served piping hot! Our server, John checked on us often and gave us some great advice since this was our first time. Over-all a solid 5 experience. Two improvements: bathroom update, and filtered water for the coffee. The coffee is kind of French/Dark roast - I would suggest Kirkland Colombian whole bean, fresh ground for every pot!!! read more

I went there yesterday for breakfast came in place wasn't packed so I figured I'd have a quick turnaround for my 30 minute lunch I asked for the easiest item that they could possibly make which was two eggs over medium hashbrowns crispy white toast besides the fact that I had to wait 25 minutes for one plate of food come out the fact that the server never came over and checked on me or to explain why when the restaurant wasn't busy I was waiting 25 minutes for my food when I finally could catch his attention because he was busy filling little catch-up cupsHe's like oh what's wrong I'm like dude I've got a 30 minute lunch and you've taken 25 minutes of it if that foods not on this table right now I'm leaving so I don't know what's yours guidelines for time service is but between the servers dropping the ball on double checking the food that came out cold and uncooked correctly or the fact that I waited 25 minutes for two eggs hashbrowns and toast and it wasn't even toast you put it on the freaking griddle so it was like cardboard when it came to my table seriously I won't be back and I don't recommend anybody else go there read more

I have been here a couple times now, but not as much as I would like due to the hours they are open. It each time I have been the food is great. One suggestions is to be sure to check out the specialty board there's some good options there and don't wait because they may not be there next time you go back. This last time I had Caramel Coconut French Toast the bread was melt in you mouth soft. If you like their sister restaurant Nat's in the Valley then you need to come here. Definitely a great place to eat. read more

This place was so good! Ordered to-go and got a tuna melt as well as a Mexican melt. Both were toasted flawlessly. Cheese pull was unbelievable. The flavors were spot on and everything was nice and hot. Cannot wait to go back and try the other items on the menu. read more

This was our first time at Tio's Cafe and it was great! Excellent customer service. Eliseo was very nice and made sure everything was okay and if we needed anything. The breakfast burrito is ginormous! Steak & eggs and the omelette were all cooked perfectly. Pancakes are really, really good. And the hamburger was very flavorful and will definitely order it again. Their portions are large and prices are good. We look forward to returning to Tio's Cafe for breakfast and lunch! read more

Love Tio's!! This is a sibling restaurant to another one of my go to favorites Nats cafe west. The breakfast is everything. My go to is the Guadalajara Skillet with no bell peppers, eggs over medium. No one does it better than them, the chorizo is super fresh and flavorful. *** they make their own strawberry jam!!! Order and English muffin toasted, and top it with the jam. It's delightful. I have heard the abc omelet is great as well. If you like old school diner breakfast food you won't be disappointed. Best part it isn't crazy greasy. read more

This place is amazing! From the outside it looks like it will be a small location but once you are in the inside it is a lot bigger than expected. It is similar to Nats Cafe so you can get things from there menu as well. The crepes were really good as it came with some really fresh fruit, almost felt as they had just picked the fruit up from the vines/trees. Although our waitress got our orders wrong, I still would come. The vegetable soup was good although some vegetables felt hard. The steak and eggs were on point as were the home fries! read more

When you walk In smiles all around. Food is coming out hot. We sat down and perder the eggs Benedict. If you know you know hollandaise sauce takes skills to make. From the butter to the eggs and just making sure it doesn't break because then you have to start over. From the first to the last bite yummm please don't ever change that recipe I'm surprised not everyone orders them. So I have yet to explore the rest of the menu I bet it's great too thank you for the great service and great food see you soon. read more

The family was in Simi Valley for a wedding on Friday. Thanks to Yelp- found this little gem for breakfast on Saturday! The servers were friendly - service was great! We have been going to breakfast here on Sunday mornings for breakfast enjoying the good food and friendly atmosphere. Recently they said they would be open for dinner service so we checked it out. Rosemary Chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and an open faced meatloaf sandwich and gravy. Some great home cookin at a very fair price. Looking forward to my next dinner service. read more

Besides the food being delicious (their carrot muffins are to die for!) and the service perfect, I thought I may have accidentally left my cheapie reading glasses there. I called a couple days later to check and the owner sent me pics of the ones she had collected. Mine were there. Then she INSISTED on DELIVERING them to me. The next day her son dropped them off to my door. WOW! That's was above and beyond any service I've ever gotten anywhere. And very appreciated. read more

Quick shoutout for Tio's: it's the best breakfast in Simi Valley, bar none. Tio's has the exact same owner/menu as Nat's West (https://www.yelp.com/biz/nats-west-cafe-canoga-park), which is tried and true at 500 reviews and 4 stars. This place is just newer. But it means I don't have to drive all the way out to Canoga Park for the best soy chorizo, the best toast (for reals), the best waffles, the best breakfast burritos, the best... well, everything... anymore. Technically, they even deliver, so I suppose I don't even have to leave my HOUSE anymore. But it's nice to come out and say hello to Eva and Charlie. =) I would disregard any low ratings here as anomalies or cranky diners. This place has earned its high reviews by having outstanding food and friendly service. My wife and I like to eat vegetarian when we can, and Tio's has the only soy breakfast chorizo anywhere I can find (save Nat's, of course!). But if you want real bacon and sausage, they're excellent at that, too. And they have tater tots as a breakfast option! Bam! We're almost always there for brunch, but their lunches are no joke, either. We know much of the wait staff by name, and they're always friendly and helpful. Go for brunch: you won't regret it. read more

Tio's has great breakfasts to suit whatever mood you're in. Traditional Mexican dishes, regular eggs and scrambles and a variety of bagels, pancakes and waffles. The owner is very sweet and the service is decent. They've messed up our orders almost every time but it hasn't spoiled the experience as they've done their bet to fix their mistakes. One of my go to breakfast spots in Simi for sure read more

Food was delicious, went on a Saturday. It's a small place with one main dinning area. When we got in there was plenty of seating and it didn't seem to busy. A few minutes in a large group showed and the waiters did an amazing job sitting and preparing their food. Great staff Good food :) read more

Went to Tio's last night for dinner. There was hardly anyone in there. The food was delicious. I got the Machaca quesadilla & my husband got the breakfast burrito, which looked like it weighed 5 lbs. Adam was our waiter & he was very attentive. We've only had it for breakfast, but will definitely be back for dinner. Give them a try! read more

The food was great! The homemade salsa was so tasty! The coffee was excellent. Not the typical Folgers. And the bacon was thick cut. It wasn't the typical tiny flat bacon you find at Dennys. Our server was Eva. Very attentive. Quick to take our order and refill the coffee. Overall, great experience. read more

Oh thank goodness for a new breakfast/ lunch place! I went 3 times this month! I had biscuits and gravy - super scrumptious and only $2.50. Two large biscuits and homemade country gray! I'd also recommend the moist and home made honey bran muffin! If you arrive before 11 am you can get their breakfast special! Two eggs, bacon, toast or muffin, potatoes and coffee.. all for a steal of $8.50.. service is prompt and courteous! Check out Tio's cafe!! I'll be back!! read more

I been here a couple of times. And service was ok but this last time service was terrible. I noticed that when they're slow the service get better but when they're busy service is really bad. No one was attending our table I had to ask so many times for service to a different people and I had to stand up to ask for a drink. read more
