Some days you just don't know where life will take you; one day recently it led me here! Did you know your car can't pass the annual safety check if tinting is peeling, bubbled, or damaged? I learned. In an effort to save me time in the long run, I found Tintpro through Yelp both for distance to Lex Brodie's and the spectacular reviews they had. I called in the afternoon, explained my situation and they were super friendly and welcoming to take me right then. I drove to the shop and drove the car right inside. It's shaded from the hot Kaka'ako sun, they have a restroom and chairs for while you wait. All the employees here were friendly and efficient; I talked to one about the process while the other was working. They remove the interior doors in order get to the lower windows more easily, which allows use of the window after about a day instead of multiple. It was fascinating to watch them cut the windows out and get them on without any imperfections. Prices are about $120/2 windows, they add a small fee for credit cards. The whole process took about 30min per window. I would definitely come here again if we need this service; they're trustworthy and hard workers. read more

Over a year ago, I rented my car out on Turo during that peak travel comeback period. Turns out tourists don't respect your car as much as you would hope (go figure). So I've been driving around with flaking/peeling tint since then. Most likely due to them spraying something in the car, be it sunblock or scented sprays to cover their cigarette smoke. Anyway, it became difficult for me to drive at night due to the distortion of all the flaking. It was time to get it replaced. Warranties at T&T (the original tint installers) are only transferrable to one owner and I already used up the warranty once (due to their good graces) to fix a peeling rear windshield tint - even though I'm the third owner of the vehicle. Turns out, just a few years after they put in the replacement, it decided to peel again. So, going back to the original car owner's tint spot was out of the question for me in terms of quality. I usually go to someone else who also has very affordable prices, but he's a bit hard to reach sometimes and I've gotten to the point that I wanted this done quick. TintPro showed up on the search results and I decided to give them a call yesterday - especially because they carried SolarGard tint after seeing some of the details on yelp. Rod graciously penciled me in for Friday upon my request just due to my work schedule conflicting with the other openings. However, I decided I just wanted it done ASAP so I called him back about 15 minutes later requesting to change it to today (Wednesday) if it was possible for me to drop off the car an hour before the actual appointment and here I am writing a review. Overall, they were ACCOMMODATING in letting me jump in last minute. The prices are very REASONABLE, especially if you bring in a car that hasn't already been tinted. The tint removal cost would be my only gripe since it's usually free with my other guy, but hey - CONVENIENCE. It's right between Ward/Kakaako which meant it was walking distance for me to get to and from my home during lunch. QUALITY - they have the SolarGard VortexIR nano-ceramic tint that gives that luxurious dark appearance from the outside and crystal clear view from the inside - all while being legal and if my girlfriend had a say in it, the 99%+ uva/uvb blockage is fantastic for your skin folks! Not to forget, it does a pretty good job at blocking infrared rays, keeping your car cool in da Hawaiian Sun. Overall, I say it's well worth the slightly extra cost just because of the stress and danger my old tint was putting me at risk for and hey, I got it done within 24 hours of calling them. Living in Hawaii, tinted windows for my car is a necessity. To date, we have had four of our family vehicles' tint done by Tintpro and highly recommend them! We used the higher quality ceramic tint for our last two cars and they've held up well. One of our older cars had the lower priced Solargard tint, which fortunately came with a lifetime warranty. My initial job was done about 10 years ago. The product I purchased came with a lifetime guarantee that I forgot about. (I can't remember the product name, but I vaguely remember being offered two options; I think I sprung for the more expensive one.) I guess I've never had anything long enough to actually take advantage of a lifetime guarantee, so I was amazed that Tintpro replaced the film at no additional cost. Actually, they honored that guarantee twice. I have been back to replace the rear film about once every 5 years. Make no mistake, I'm not knocking their work. Understand that what is essentially a great big sticker cannot reasonably be expected to stay stuck forever. Rest assured though, replacements will be handled with zero fuss. Just be sure to keep your paperwork handy. I recall being told DO NOT LOSE THIS when I got the initial work done. If you're like me though, you will misplace it and then have to rip your car apart looking for it. The only con I can think of here is that there's not much to do within walking distance while you wait. I guess just be sure to charge your phone so you can have something to do while they're working. Don't worry though, these dudes will respect your time and treat both you and your car with the utmost courtesy. read more

They were very friendly on the phone, gave me a reasonable quote, and got me in the same week. I went in for my appointment and explained how my car didn't pass the safety check. The two guys at the shop said it looks like it should pass and checked it with their meter, and guess what, it passed. They were honest with me and said they didn't want to remove and replace it, just to have it not pass again, and connected me with a different inspector. This was my second time patronizing this company for tint work, and both times have been a 5-star experience. I obtained a quote by submitting an email through their website (www.tintprohawaii808.com) but you can also call them. They have two grades of tint available - Galaxie by Solar Gard (I believe it's non-metal and non-reflective) and ceramic. The ceramic will run about double the cost of the non-metal, but it's supposed to cut out a lot more heat than the Galaxie. Installation for my truck took about 1 1/2 hours (due to the baby seats in the back which they had to remove and re-install) but they did a great job and I couldn't be happier. I had done my original tinting when I first got my car in 2012 from tint pro which was almost 6 years ago! So it's safe to say that the tint is of good quality and will last !! There was a small issue I noticed recently where the tint on the window above my trunk was starting to bubble at the edges. I remembered I had warranty on the tint so I gave them a call. The guy who answered the phone was super nice and I got scheduled right away. Luckily I still had my warranty paper (because I literally lose everything) and it was fully covered !!!! It's now 2017 and I've moved onto a new car and it's in need of tinting. With so many tint shops out there, why would I go anywhere else. Rod and his shop did a great job on my Honda Pilot (see attached pics) and they acknowledge return business. Also, the Pilot has this small triangular piece of window in the two front doors that I knew would be a bitch to do. I asked a whole bunch of questions because I didn't know what to get or why but Rod was patient and took the time to explain the types available and recommendations. He didn't try to upsell me at all which is always comforting. I wasn't in a rush but I also tried to see if I could squeeze myself in same day. He said the day was booked but if someone cancelled he'd let me know. Yay, for me someone did. I came in and immediately felt super at ease with Bruno and Rod. Such down to earth guys. Rod showed me the two types again and recommended that if I wasn't sure about the front windshield, to get the standard one for now and see how I liked it and maybe I wouldn't need it but could always come back if I felt like I still wanted it. The team was super efficient, as soon as it was a go they started on the car as I discussed a few more details with Rod. They also noticed some weird scuffs on my hood and gave me advice on how to fix that. Car was done on time, picked it up and it looked awesome and I immediately felt the difference. These guys are awesome and take pride in their work. I've brought 6 cars to them over the years. A Lexus IS, 2 Honda CRVs, 2 Odysseys, and a Tacoma. All were done nicely and came with warranties. There's no place to wait around so you can walk to Morning Brew in Kakaako to relax. It's about a 10 minute walk. But u will have a lot of time, around 1-2 hours to wait. Follow your Google maps turn directions as the street signs are gone on one end and not too visible on the other. I just found out that they charge a 4% fee if you use a credit card. That was fine with me as businesses need to adjust to survive in this new economy. Pay in cash if you don't want to pay the fee. Not sure if they takes checks. But who writes checks anymore right? Depending on how may windows you have and if there is old tint on it or not your cost will be around $200-500. Not bad for good tint and excellent tinting. Do not go to T&T tinting.
