Came here after a goole search on nearby diners. I wanted simple, American breakfast. You know, pancakes, eggs, bacons, coffee. I walked in and one of the ladies working gave me a hug and was like, Oh my gosh it's so good to see you!! LOL Note that I have never been there before. Turns out i just have a doppleganger, but still it made me feel like a regular and was a sign of good things to come. This place is old school: no nonsense, SOLID coffee, quick service, CASH only. The food was good too! Pancakes are diner pancakes, not too fluffy but delicious and like you made them at home. The omelette cam hot and fresh. IDK if they use real butter but the toast was good and the butter wasn't skimpy. My entire brunch with Greek omelette, side of sausage, short stack and coffe was $20, including tip. This spot is our favorite corner in all of Brooklyn. Tina is a wonderful soul. They get rather busy but being patient here is worth it.

I've been coming here for a while now. It's usually pretty good and inexpensive as well! I went there today and got seated rather quickly with some friends. Once we sat down, who appeared to be a busser greeted us and got us our drinks(coffee, OJ and waters). He forgot the creamer which wasn't a big deal at all. We were just gunna wait for him to come back. Then the server came over after about 15mins and took our order. I asked her if we could have some half and half as well and she immediately started asking who put the coffee on the table and got mad at the busser for not giving us creamer... the busser brought it over apologizing and I told him it's no problem at all and that I appreciate it! The food came out in about 10 mins or so. That was all fine. But our server isn't even the one who brought it out. Someone else did. We all finished our food and waiting almost 30 mins for our check to be dropped. Meanwhile, as we were waiting...another person just came over and put hot sauce on the table after we were all done lol we looked at another and all started laughing because...uh we already finished and we've been waiting for the check now for a while. About ten more minutes go by so now it's been about half an hour. Our server finally asked if we would like the check..we get it. She ended up charging us for our drinks even though we all sat down and got our drinks before 11. It reads on the menu if its before 11, coffee and juice is free. It was a few dollars..I'm not hurt about that really lol. What Bothers me, is that I've worked in hospitality now for a very long time. I've worked in small family owned restaurants to huge corporate locations on Times Square. It bothers me that the woman who is supposed to be my server and who receives my tip is the one doing the least...who knows, maybe she's one of the owners but if that's the case, she should be doing the most out of anyone, especially at a family owned location like so. The only thing our server actually did was take our order...she didn't get our drinks. She didn't bring our food out. She didn't even check in while we were eating to make sure everything was okay. I wanted to order some other things, but we were never checked up on unfortunately. Hospitality is a soft spot for me. It's the only thing I've ever known...so to come in to a family owned place, I'm expecting good food and great service. Once we got our food it's like we didn't exist. I understand teamwork in the workplace but to be honest this is just ridiculous. Especially, when I see this busser going around busting his ass, running drinks and food, taking deliveries while the actual server is basically doing nothing and just telling people what to do. The sad thing is, the people that often work the hardest, make the least in hospitality. I expected more frankly. I think this is something that really needs to be fixed and to be honest, I think it's time to find another diner. I rarely do reviews let alone bad ones, but this is something I'm very much passionate about and I hope this willl help you become better as a whole. read more

Very few places like Tina's exist in this area. No frills diner food for very cheap. Pancakes with a side of sausage was $5, and 2 eggs with toast and hash browns was $4. It can get busy on the weekends but everyone that works there is friendly and attentive. Overall, can't beat a meal for two people at $13 with tip. read more

TIP: CASH ONLY. They have an ATM inside if you need to take out some cash. This is a small local diner in Brooklyn that can get extremely busy on weekends. It's affordable, staff is friendly and service is okay. I had a few breakfast staples along with my cousin and we enjoyed our meal. Came here on Sunday in late morning for coffee and breakfast. This was the Dinar my friend liked for long and today I finally had chance to visit them. They have pretty decent coffee, with milk or black it tastes good as well as the aroma. Their food menu is simple and classic. Although they were almost full through the time we were there, the atmosphere of the dinar is very warm, relaxed and friendly. We enjoyed time and conversation very filing feeling. As a experienced waitress like myself I know it's not exactly fine dining but I wish that they could have been more attentive!!!!! Stopped by here for lunch and it was a nice spot with lots of options. First things first, it's cash only but if you're desperate they do have an ATM. The servers are pretty friendly and this place definitely has a homey feel to it. It's very laid back and the menu features your typical diner meals. After tough deliberations I decided to go with a club sandwich which turned out decent. I have to add that I've been eyeing the desserts as well, they have pies and cakes, but I was way too full to consider those. Rant: Bushwick hipsters need to check themselves. Your momma cooked food similar to Tina's? Your momma is whack. Unless you're a nearby Boar's Head worker on the swing shift, there's really no reason to stop in besides that soothing feeling you may get (if you are low in self-awareness but wealthy in prick-ish tendencies) when walking into places intended to meet the needs of a specific demographic (the aforementioned Boar's Head workers and families living paycheck to paycheck) and calling it "authentic" as a way to assuage your upper-middle-class white guilt. The food is terrible, the tv is loud, how is this any different from a d-list Houlihan's? Specifics: Tina herself is a total caricature, and a charming one at that. The service here is very kind and well-meaning, and she has a wide selection of herbal teas. But her food is best described as "junior high cafeteria and army ration...fusion" and that can't be overlooked. I work at a nearby studio, and we came here for our Friday lunch (paid for by the Boss Man). Should've just gotten delivery from the Nat or Olive Valley. Overheard phone conversation between Boss Man and his Devoted Manager: "We had a field trip to Tina's today...there have been some interesting changes...the prices got higher and the food actually got worse...crazy, I know..." My burger was a hockey puck, the fries were of the Ore-Ida variety (passable!), Q's mashed potatoes were made from instant flakes and MARGARINE, and my other co-workers' Philly sandwiches were salt bombs. Oh! And! And! My clothing and hair reeked of old grease for the rest of the afternoon from sitting in Tina's for a half-hour. You have to try to make it here before 11am on a weekend to "beat the big rush," which, contrary to what I originally believed, is not a euphemism for masturbation. Every dedicated follower of Tina has a circadian rhythm that beats not to the usual boring 24-hour cycle of the sun and the moon*, but the 12.5 daily hours between the opening and closing of Tina's doors (3:30am to 4pm). Savvy customers also know that in order to pump their tired, useless bodies full of unlimited hot coffee at no added cost to their breakfast, they have to make it before 11am for the breakfast special. The time of the breakfast special is my favorite time of the day because: I wake up hungry, I wake up tired, I usually don't wash the black stains from under my eyes, and I walk into Tina's knowing that my eggs, my sausage, my home-fries and my coffee will be delivered into my disgusting pit of a stomach with a reliable haste and not at the expense of taste (I'm a poet). If you're feeling like lunchtime, the "Burger Box" is a portion of the menu is dedicated to a variety of burgers that are a bit more impressive in their gustatory than their visual appeal. The bun is usually much too large for the meat, but it's covered in sesame seeds and you can dip the excess bread into a mysterious (delicious) pink sauce that comes with the complementary onion rings. The onion rings are deliciously mushy inside and well-fried (think burger king onion rings), which is a welcome change from the slimy onion boogers that I've grown accustomed to at other diners. The menu has a variety of other options which I haven't tried and therefore cannot comment on. However, don't limit yourself to the predetermined menu items. One time my friend ordered a stack of waffles with sauteed onions on top and they made it for him without questioning his tastes. It was as disgusting as he had hoped and he ate it with his hands and he loved it. He is a masochist and that's also welcome here, as long as you're paying cash because they don't take credit. They even have pain relievers and other select bodega items on sale behind the counter. This place is also a romantic destination. My BF took me here several times when we were "courting" and I performed an enticing mating ritual consisting of smearing the pink onion ring sauce all over my face and winking obnoxiously. We still come here a lot with our loser friends. You can make a lot of memories here because it's cool and you're not a douche bag. I'd like to dedicate the final paragraph of my dissertation to the aforementioned pink sauce. Some people think the sauce is orange, but if we've learned anything in 2015 it's that we shouldn't argue about the perception of color. Instead, we should argue about the perception of taste, which is what Yelp is all about. Unfortunately, this sauce is unarguably delicious. I don't know what it's actually called so I just say "the onion rings sauce" but you can try "pink sauce" or "umm.. the orange sauce?" They're synonymous. My favorite things to dip inside the sauce are the breakfast sausages and obviously the onion rings. Bon appetit! Let's just say... a place like Tina's really shouldn't be on Yelp. It's not something for yelpers. It's a greasy spoon diner that's been there for a long time with barely passable food, tired service, and decor that hasn't changed since 1970. That said... $5 for a coffee and a two egg breakfast (even a bad one) is good in my book. Especially when the place reminds me of the shitty poor suburb I grew up in. I will echo William S. on this one and say that "a-ok" is really an apt description for Tina's. It definitely offers a one of a kind atmosphere, with the family pictures put up on the shelf behind the counter. And Tina herself is as sweet as pie and almost possesses a preternatural pension for her job. Really, if this place were called "Bob's" or "Roy's" and there was no face to go with the name, I don't think that it would be seen as quite the special little gem of Bushwick. And that's honestly nothing to sneeze at. Atmosphere, history and legends or certain places in any given city are really half the excitement and joy. And believe me, you will have plenty of that to lap up at Tina's. When it comes to the food...it's diner food. Food that cures hangovers. Nothing special or fancy about it. I went there with a hangover and got a grilled cheese with bacon and a side of fries (if that won't cure a hangover, please tell me what will). Fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, just the way I like them. But they did need just a bit more salt. My grilled cheese with bacon was smaller than I thought it would be. But, on the plus side, the bread was buttery and crispy, and the cheese tasted like actual cheese. And let's pause here, because perhaps "grilled cheese with bacon" is not quite the right description for what I got. It was more of a "grilled cheese stuffed with bacon." Instead of having a few slices of bacon layered on top of the cheese, it was more like they stuffed several slices of bacon in the middle of the grilled cheese. And it was good. Very, very good. I just wish there was more of it. If you are expecting to stop here to grab a quick breakfast or lunch, look elsewhere, because the service is pretty slow, even when it's not terribly busy. But, if you are looking for a place that retains a hidden gem quality with legends and character abound...and a place that will cure that pesky alcohol poisoning, Tina's will most certainly provide you with nothing less. read more

As I write this, I am STILL waiting to pay the bill. The service is simply abhorrent. Tina acted annoyed with us the entire time. She was clearly ticked that I needed more than 30 seconds to look at the menu and that I asked for Splenda. Even though coffee was free, it was so hard to track down a server, I only got one cup. I also couldn't get a banana in my oatmeal because no one was paying attention to the tables. The food itself is cheap but mad greasy. First off, my 4 star rating consists mostly of the fact that there's nowhere else to eat when Tina's is open. For vampires, this place is great. For the city that never sleeps, Tina's is one of the few places left that actually feels like old NYC stomping grounds. You've got cops and garbagemen coming in. The food is still cheap, there's pastrami and eggs and bad television like Judge Judy on all the time. Tina is super nice too. You can't mess with her. The food is greasy. Yes. The coffee isn't so great. Standard diner fare. And of course the slipshod service when it gets busy. What is invaluable is the no bull ambience and the late nightness of the place. And the price.
