First meal in NYC. It felt very dirty inside, customer service was good I was served by a daughter of the chef, must have been in high school. The food was lackluster, two eggs over easy, 4 slices of bacon, breakfast potato's and a coffee. I think in total it was about $16 or $18. I would not recommend this place, mainly because if you are in New York you want memorable food, and this was just fuel not something to ever think about again. I think the low stars also come from quality of ingredients, which you could tell was the absolute cheapest, and how dirty it felt. read more

Cheap diner food in the Ridgewood area, near the Halsey stop. It's okay for what's expected of a hole in the wall diner. Food is okay, and the portions are large. Their pancakes aren't very fluffy, but I guess that's how diner pancakes tend to be. The veggie omelet feels like something you would make at home -- not greasy but lacks finesse of nicer brunch places. They seem to be a lot busier from their take-out and delivery business rather than dine in. We sat at the counter, and it was fun to watch the cooks making all the food. Service was okay. They gave us everything we needed, but they don't really bother to check in on you or anything, so you have to flag someone down whenever you need something. My favorite little hole in the wall breakfast spot!! I've been coming here for many years. It's not fancy or upscale like many of the new hipster places in the area, but if you are looking for an old fashion Spanish breakfast diner this is the place. Parking is kind of tough so I suggest you walk or ride a bike to avoid the hassle of looking for a parking space. Everything on the breakfast menu is pretty good and the coffee is always fresh and super hot, so be careful when you take that first sip it will burn your tongue. I never had anything from the lunch menu but I'm sure it's good. The best part about this place is the pricing. For 10 bucks you can get a breakfast plate, coffee and still have a few bucks to tip the waitress!! read more

I really wanted to like this place as it's so close to my house and the staff is very friendly, but I'm not eating the staff, I'm eating the food and it's subpar. I've lived down the street for 17 years and only eaten there 4 or 5 times total and I LOVE breakfast. The last time was a few days ago, right after the grand reopening. Fingers were crossed they'd made improvements all around. Food is the same unfortunately, they just raised their prices, expanded the seating area and make you tip a waitress for crap food. The quality is low, they don't use any spices on the potatoes or eggs so it's bland and the coffee was burnt. I had to pay $14 for that. If I'm spending that money I'm going to a real restaurant. I don't mind tipping a sever, but not all places require one and this is one of those places. I don't see how their reviews are so good, but I'm sure they were the only place open at 6 in the morning when partygoers are drunk and high off their mind and some food, any food, helped them back to life. It's possible to like the people but not their food. I love my mom but she's not a great cook, when I'm visiting I do the cooking, lol. I'd love to show these guys how to do it right. Cafe Pri on Schafer and Knickerbocker is an example of how to do it right. I've been there 20 times at least since they opened a few years ago. There was only on server and they were very busy because it was Saturday. Thankfully, I had read Yelp reviews before going, so I felt prepared. I ordered the two eggs with bacon, toast and home fries. I had read to order the home fries crispy, so I did, and it was absolutely the right decision. Coffee will burn you if you're not careful--super hot, which I also read on Yelp. The server seemed a bit flustered because they were so busy, but she was kind. Bills is great. Just what the doctor ordered. They know how to work a flattop/grill perfectly. Something the "hip" spots are severely lacking in. Eggs over easy? Sunny side up? Scrambled? All perfectly executed. Get the home fries well done if you prefer them a little crisp. Their breakfast special is on point. They happen to have a large selection of diner food as well. I usually order breakfast but everything else I tried was good and exactly what you'd expect. Bills serves up old school American diner food and does it right without trying to and for very reasonable prices. A personal local favorite for me. read more

I was looking for a place to have breakfast on at 8am on a Sunday morning and found Bill's on Yelp. It's the perfect little diner w/counter & table seating and really should be called Guillermo's because it's run (when I was there) by a team of 4 Latinos -- 2 men (the cook & an order prep guy) & 2 young women (who take orders by phone & provide walk-in & counter/table service). The place is clean and tidy & has an "A" rating posted in the window. They do a big take out business $ also deliver locally w/in a mile or so & there's another guy that does that. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was in the Mission District in SF w/all the Spanish mixed w/English spoken & the Latin music station playing softly in the background. The only problem is that if you're driving, like I was , there's virtually no place to park on Wyckoff. I had to circle around and find a spot on a side street. However, if you're on foot, the Halsey St Station on the L Line is right a ross the street. The food is cheap, quickly served and good (which means what you'd expect of a neighborhood diner. I got 2scrambled eggs, 3 large link sausages, 2 pieces of toast & grits (in lieu of home fries) AND coffee (free refills) for just $4.75. I left a $1 tip because it was so cheap. Bill's used to be a good spot but they lost its touch. There is nothing special about the food. The good thing about it is it's eat the train station but so is the other coffee shop a few doors down. The customer service from the lady sucks. I definitely stopped going there because of her. I used to go there often but she always seem to have an attitude unless you are a cop or a sanitation worker. I asked her for change and she told me her boss took all the money. Yasss! This small diner was near our Airbnb. Delicious breakfast (2 eggs any way, 2 slices of toast, lots of home fries, 4 strips of bacon, and coffee) for $5. I went to eat breakfast with my girlfriend on Sunday and the staff were all very nice and attentive. The two waitresses there seem to be very young but they were very polite and came around to ask if we needed anything. The milkshakes taste amazing and I recommend ordering the Bills Special.
