Slowest diner I've ever been to. We ordered a bowl of soup and a BLT. We waited 30 minutes for soup that we assume should be already made, and a sandwich that requires a few strips of bacon and some lettuce and tomatoes. Pour some soup in a bowl. Slap some mayo on bread, lay some lettuce and tomatoes and 4 or 5 strips of bacon that is already fried and laying in a bowl somewhere in the kitchen and that order should have been out in 7 minutes. 30 minutes is way too long for diner food. read more

Extremely disappointing I ordered a grilled chicken and somehow I get home and it's actually breaded or floured and fried chicken over the salad. My boyfriend also ordered some sort of grilled chicken with tomato and mozzarella sauce with a side of french fries and wound up with breaded chicken as well. If they don't have what's on the menu, they should let you know ahead of time. We will not be going there again. Back when I first visited New York their Athenian Omelet saved my life. I had subsisted on a jar of nori (that at 18 I had thought was beef jerky) and candied nuts from friendly street vendors. The balance of the egg and feta cheese changed my southern perspectives on omelets and I will forever be greatful. On a recent occasion, a couple of friends and I came in here for lunch. We ordered what we wanted, nothing complicated. I ordered a bowl of chili and a turkey burger with Jalapenos. ( I never received my jalapenos). One of my friends just ordered a soup, and the other ordered soup and fries. (Fries, were forgotten). Upon mentioning this to the waiter , he said; "okay, right away" right away was 15 minutes after we mentioned it for a side order of fries. When he forgot for the third time, about my jalapenos on my burger, I just told him; " please , when you give us the check don't charge me for the jalapenos " I had already finished my burger, so when he looked at my plate, I was confused as to what he was trying to find. Today felt like the kind of day that needed to start off with a trip to the diner. Sometimes (all the time?) you just need good old diner food, you know? I think there isn't much to choose from in my boyfriends area of Ridgewood but then I remembered Metro Diner! It's a bit of a walk but a lovely one and perfect to walk off any meal. We walked to Metro and were led towards a booth (LOVE booths). It didn't take us long to look at menus and happily enough everything was just as delicious as I remembered it. Le Boyfriend ordered the Griddle Deluxe - French toast / Belgian waffles / or pancakes with eggs (scrambled, sausage, ham and bacon with a side of white toast and large orange juice. I just had their fluffy crispy golden sweeten French toast; it's so yummy, no butter and barely any syrup is needed. Of course, I stole some sausage and eggs which were amazing!!! Getting that next time - having major FOMO not having ordered that but glad I tried it. What made this time around amazing was the service. Last time I made a note that the servers constantly asked how that last sip of coffee was and would we want more despite the cup still being more than half full. Seems as if the staff mastered that balance! The way the servers checked up on us was appropriate and non-invasive. That made our meal that much more peaceful. Thanks to the owner and servers who clearly take note on their customers feedback! Hope to be back sooner rather than later next time I'm in Queens! read more

Day two of my tour lead us to this area. I spotted the Metro Diner and asked if we could eat there. My party agreed and we walked over. Not much parking so walking it was a good idea. When we got in I wasn't that impressed. It was messy with items on the table, open ketchup bottles and rips in the cushions of the booths. No one greeted us and we had to seat ourselves while we waited for a waiter to offer use menus and service. Finally when the waiter came he dropped of the menus and disappeared giving us time pick out our orders. When he finally came with our drinks it was time to order. I ordered a omelette and they put the order in. When the food finally came it was time to test it out. The food was delicious, I couldn't believe how good it was. I really enjoyed what I ate.
