I came here for brunch on a Saturday. They don't take reservations, but we were seated right away. They have outdoor seating in the front and back of the restaurant. Inside, they have regular tables and high top bar stool seating. To drink, I had the passionfruit caipirinha. It was sweet, citrusy, and juicy. Really enjoyed it. For my entree, I got the mushroom hash with scrambled eggs added. It felt like a ton of food! The hash featured mushrooms fried with potatoes. It was subtly crispy. Very tasty. It also included avocado, beet, and a side salad. Everything tasted fresh. Loved every bite. We also shared the cheddar scallion biscuits, which were served with honey butter. First impression, why do I keep coming around here. I have yet to have any good food/drink from this area. Going inside I was a bit confused with the vibe. The hot coco is beyond budget, think nestle but even worst (milo). The mule with mezcal tasted like water and a huge amount of mezcal *vomit*. Think of it like when you leave a drink alone for too long and it gets watery (in part because of the mountain of ice establishments love to pile on). BUT luckily that is where the unpleasantness ended. The chicken and waffle along with the biscuit meal were definitely worth the trip. Disclaimer the waffle has no flavor but if you get the biscuit that comes with a delicious butter you can slather that on (fyi the fork makes it hard to eat because it's constantly bending0_o). The eggs in the biscuit were not flavorful even with the deli like cheese, butter and bacon. The biscuit itself was quite good and would have been better served on its own. Overall the food is good for a spot to plot down for work seeing as it's definitely a cafe. But it is a "bar" atmosphere with the loudness of the music so maybe not ideal if you need a quiet spot to work. 100% not a brunch spot worthy of walking more than 1 (and maybe a half) block. read more

I've been to this place two times already to eat and each time I was amazed how good this food was considering it's a cafe/bar. Both times I've came here during lunch after working in another cafe. It's usually filled with other patrons either with their laptops or eating at the table. They have a bar here as well which is great. I haven't had drinks here yet but there's always people at the bar drinking and chatting it up with the employees. Although I can't personally see myself working inside since it's only high top stools, I love the huge window which brings in a lot of light inside. I also saw that they have some type of event around 9 every day, i.e. karaoke or trivia night. I'd def recommend coming here if you're in the area. Nothing to write home to Tex-max land about. $14 down the drain Drinks were ok but lacked chutzpah in presentation and assemblage. Conclusion: Father doesn't know best, customer is always right so always listen to your customer. He or she pays your overheads, bills, corporation taxes, and most importantly , keep your lights on. Unless the proprietor owns the building or is in the midst of a revamp, this place is all for naught. There are better option on this side of bushwick (which is still sketchy). I would not go again. Sorry for the scathing and seething critique father, but truth is a bitter elixir. PS - We also saw a cockroach run by the wood railing in front of the DJ booth. Brunch spot in the morning and it turns into a bar in the evening. They have game night and karaoke night if you're in the neighborhood. Hopefully the cocktails are better than their coffee. Went on a Monday early afternoon. A space for creatives, dates and more. The servers/baristas/bartenders/host were very pleasant. The music was TOP TIER (blood orange, erykah badu, the jets, solange) it was a mood. The biggest disappointment was the establishment not being persistent on checking vaccinations card etc. I believe they're short staffed but in this climate it should be top priority!!! Now to the food... Unfortunately they were out of a few things. -all of the desserts -French fries -a few entrees I went with the Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was over fried and dry , however the bun was soft and tasty. Overall just okay wouldn't recommend. Also it came with a substitution salad that came with a lite delicious dressing but lacked character because literally it was just lettuce lol. I also got a side of the Johnny Cakes which were crispy and full of flavor. The almond croissant was delicious but could had been next level had it been warm. Therefore the croissant didn't lack flavor but it was very cold so also wouldn't recommend. Caramel Boozy coffee was hot and had just enough kick. The coffee was missing the "caramel" notes. Our family of four (kids ages 23 and 20) had a great dinner here during our stay at an airbnb in the neighborhood. Well above average bar food - the cauliflower wings and the spinach artichoke dip were both exceptional - good beers on tap, all reasonably priced. Anyway, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and instead of the regular fries, I went ahead and paid the up charge for the parm truffle fries because, well, I just couldn't resist. I placed the order to go, and waited about 30 minutes for my food, which I thought was pretty long, considering it wasn't super busy but hey, it happens... I get my food, and I was quite surprised at how good the chicken sandwich was. It was super crispy, and well-seasoned. I mean, I've had some amazing chicken sandwiches, but I've had more crappy chicken sandwiches than amazing, which is why I'm usually surprised when I come across the amazing ones. I was impressed. The fries were pretty good. They definitely could've benefited from some finishing salt. I've learned that a lot of places that make parm truffle fries, either omit, or take it super easy with the salt, but nah girl, you gotta salt them fries the right way, with or without truffle and parm. Very cool place in Bushwick. Maybe more so for younger people than my age. My daughter lives across the street so we went there for dinner. When I went on a Monday night there were a few people scattered here and there but it was empty enough that we could easily find a table and chat. Then, the staff member makes an announcement that it's self serve (order at bar, pay at bar) and we realized you get your own water of course. Essentially, every aspect was self service. Which is fine, but don't expect optimal tip without providing optimal service (or any service at all). Should've let guests know while being sat down also. When the food arrived, the chicken sandwich was burnt to the crisp. Burger was yummy! We sat in the backyard. The backyard is loomed over by tall, residential apartment buildings and someone was blasting daddy yankee on a speaker in their garden while we ate. All for daddy Yankee - which is when you realize the restaurant is the gentrification that's become a problem and not the locals who already live there. Overall, no thanks. I ate the spinach and artichoke dip as well as a smash burger and was physically sick with no ability to take in any liquids or do anything besides empty my body of everything it took in at this restaurant. It's definitely more of a neighborhood bar than a destination bar. They had a movie night going on and a lot of the patrons seemed friendly with the bartenders. My main course was the best part of the experience. I had the falafel platter. It was great and the main reason why I rounded up to four stars. Served with two humongous falafels over a bed of hummus and cucumber & tomato salad. I'd definitely recommend it. My wife had the buttermilk chicken sandwich with the paprika fries. Visiting town for the holidays and my friends highly recommended Father knows best! The food was amazing so yummy, BUT- While we were there, our table broke and fell onto our laps, I guess the ledge the table rested on was never actually secured together, and any amount of pressure could have completely push the table off the ledge, causing our food and drinks to go all over the floor and us to hold this broken table in our laps. Only another patron came over to help us move the remaining plates from the broken one to a new one. After a few moments the employees came out to clean up the mess. They said they would, but it took another 20 to get our drink orders again since the barista was taking all the walk in orders. The syrup from my other friends pancakes also got all over my jacket, and I had to ask 3-4 times for some Clorox wipes or spray cleaner to wipe down my jacket, as it was on the inside and outside and I didn't want to be sticky all day in cold New York weather :/ Whenever I'd ask an employee for some, they just point to someone else and go "they'll get it for you" but no one ever did so I kinda felt like an asshole for asking again and again before they gave it to me! I also got some truffle fries and ended up getting the quinoa bowl and SIS...so good. It was so good that I sat for another 30 minutes contemplating if I wanted to order the wings. Like what a magical feeling to know that I was full and content. Energy in the spot is super cool. There was actually an art show going on and it was beautiful to see the community energy flowing through the space. Only reason I didn't give it a 5-star is mainly because folx were getting a little caught up with their regular customers so I ended up having to wait for little things or ask for things like napkins/cutlery and water. Beside that I'll be back there in full affect super soon. I'm trying to taste that Boozy Coffee and enjoy some more of the spirit of FNB!! read more
