My husband and I were in Leavenworth for business and decided to check this place out. When we walked in, we were asked "how many?" by one of the waitresses and we said "2". Without saying a word (not even a "follow me this way") the lady grabbed 2 menus and walked off to a table closer to the back of the restaurant, placed the menus down, and kept walking the opposite direction from us. My husband and I looked at each other because we were one second away from walking out based on the rudeness of the waitress....but we decided to stay as another waitress approached us in a more "common" and inviting manner after we were standing there looking confused about what just happened with the first waitress. You're driving through what looks like the middle of nowhere, then all of a sudden you pop into and old fashioned looking downtown area. When I first moved to the Midwest I expected the best bbq in the country but everything I have tasted has been so sub par I am always left disappointed. Not at tin kitchen. I always get the salmon BLT, which is wonderfully cooked and has just amount of tang in the sauce to pair nicely with the salmon and the thick, well cooked bacon slices. This is my favorite places to eat in Weston. They have pretty decent BBQ and some delicious sandwiches and burgers. The green chili burger is my favorite. They also have a good selection of beers and liquor. The restaurant is attached to the public house bar as well. So if there is bad weather or snow you can walk through the back hallway and get to the bar that way. The only downside is that sometimes the service can be a bit slow. We went to Tin Kitchen on the recommendation of a friend. They really loved their experiences. We went with high expectations, and while the food was everything they said it would be, we waited over an hour for our food to arrive for a party of 4. The restaurant was fairly busy, but it just seemed like no one was getting any food. Service was okay, but while we were waiting for the food, we had to keep asking for refills. We've been here before, so we knew to expect excellent BBQ. However, I had to write about our experience tonight. We had a big group coming in. Over 20. We called ahead and they suggested we arrive early to try and get the big table in the center. No problem. Day of, and a group got in before us that really messed that plan up. They have a large room in the back, but mentioned they didn't have the servers to support putting us back there. Our server, Kathleen, went out of her way to put us back in that private room and then personally served all of us. Beyond that, I could tell that our large party was staining the staff's capabilities. Kathleen didn't even sweat. Gave us great service and always with a smile. She was fantastic and the food, as always, was phenomenal (what do they put on the fries???). This is by far among the best BBQ places in the KC area (and that's saying something) with excellent service. A must visit if you're nearby. read more

Service was great and so fast! We were hungry and I loved how fast the food came out! I had the two meat barbecue plate with brisket and pulled pork. I also had their very creamy macaroni and cheese with their crisp broccoli and grape salad (this my mom makes up in Minnesota! So good!). Being native Kansas Citians, my husband and I are BBQ devotees. While Tin Kitchen's BBQ is a bit more Carolina than KC, the food was really outstanding. The pulled pork had a nice smoke flavor and was appropriately tender. The brisket was the star of the meal for sure though; the smoke ring was nice and the beef was sliceable but still melted in our mouths. The French fries are hand-cut but are the shoestring variety; they're fantastic. The beans were definitely unusual, but delicious even if they are sweeter than what I'm accustomed to. We live north of town, but we will definitely be back for more BBQ from Tin Kitchen. read more

Great little restaurant and bar. They serve several BBQ items (pulled pork, chicken, brisket) along with sides of 24 hour coleslaw, awesome looking fries, baked beans. For this who haven't heard of 24 hour slaw, you need to try it (made without mayonnaise). They have a good selection of salads for the vegetarian or really like salads. Best food ever. Worst service ever. Waited at least 10 minutes to get our drink ordered. And then we had to keep stopping them to ask for refills and napkins and then when they brought the to go box they didn't even take the plates they walked by dozen times without taking the dirty dishes off of our table and they were too busy visiting with each other at the bar. read more

Don't need to go all the way to KC to get terrific BBQ. We went to the adjoining bar the night before and could smell the meat already smoking for the next day. All of the meats come with a dry rub and no sauce. My partner and I split a rack of ribs and all three sides available. The ribs had a great smoke ring and needed no extra sauce because the flavor was so strong. The sides were nothing to write home about as the meat was the real star. The gentleman at the McCormick Country Store told us to try this place and wow I am glad we did. Let me say that I have eaten at virtually every "famous" BBQ place in KC, Oklahoma, Texas, Memphis, Alabama, etc. Tin Kitchen stands tall, I would put it in the Joe's, Q39, Salt Lick, Original Arthur Bryant's class.. or other words LEGENDARY! I had the Brisket (per recommendation) and it was simply fantastic, we also had the Carolina sandwich and it was equally as good. You must get the fries...the best! The food tastes fantastic , I tried to buy the BBQ sauce and the poppyseed dressing but they don't sell it yet. Holy crap... I'm writing this review immediately after lunch at Tin Kitchen, so if I trail off at any point, it'll be the food coma I'm inevitably about to slip into. Where do I start? Well, we ordered the smothered fries for an appetizer (looking back, it could have been our meal), and as we took our first bites of homemade fries, homemade cheese sauce, and perfectly prepared pulled pork, we knew we had found an amazing restaurant! Our entrees both contained beef brisket (which was cooked to perfection), and we both selected macaroni and cheese as sides (again, homemade and exquisitely well-prepared). I didn't have a single complaint about Tin Kitchen, except that, since I don't live in the area, I can't eat it every day. Oh well... Nap time! read more

What I liked most was the old town feel, the old building itself and the BBQ. The food here was really good and came out quickly. However, we will not be returning due to some of the rudest customer service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. We arrived as a group of four and the woman who greeted us was not friendly at all. She spoke in one word prompts the whole time and told us we could wait outside for 25 minutes. We waited and this same woman was our server. She again came up to us and just said "drinks?" and continued with one word prompts through the whole service. She did not ask if we wanted anything else to drink and took a very long time to refill waters. The woman who took our payment for the bill was much nicer and I wish we would have had her the whole time. Not sure if they were just understaffed and stressed but we do not plan to return anytime soon. read more

Nice vibe to the restaurant. There is a large communal table in the center and booths along the outside walls. The restaurant connects to their bar which also has an entrance off the side street. As far as the food goes, I had a grilled chicken salad and I would have to say the portion size was generous and it looked really fresh. It pretty much just had grilled chicken with lots of lettuce and a few veggies on the side of the plate, but that just made for a healthier salad! Hubby had the brisket and baked beans and thought the brisket was really good and the beans were fine. Sarah had the chicken sandwich and other than thinking it was pretty messy to eat, she thought it was a good choice and she thought the fries were excellent - thin and crispy!
