#45-2021 FIRST THING TO KNOW THIS IS NOT THE RED BIRD DINER ANYMORE IT HAS NOT BEEN THAT WAY FOR A YEAR. THIS IS THE COUNTRY CAFE LOCATED IN THE TREXMART TRAVEL CENTER. THEY HAVE FOUR LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE NORTHEAST MISSOURI AREA. HERE AT WINSTON, LATHROP, FILLMORE, AND TRACY. IT IS THE SAME LOCATION IN THE SAME TRAVEL STOP WHERE THE REDBIRD ONCE WAS small town North of Kansas City where most are located the Trexx fuel centers now operate their own restaurants. like all the other ones they are open Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. holiday hours may vary. this location has been many things through the years began as one of the old Texaco truck stops off of Interstate 35 always retained the restaurant. old fashioned country cooking stick to your ribs kind of meals nothing really fancy or elaborate most people don't want that around here especially the locals this is farmland they just want food with substance they have a nice choice on the menu. one thing you find in Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa are the pork tenderloin sandwiches as big as a hubcap. I came in noticed just not only did they remodel it but they changed the name was very clean for an older facility. Wanting some breakfast had a traditional eggs bacon hash browns and toast it was prepared the way I liked it eggs over medium bacon hash browns not crispy and sourdough toast very good. waitress came checked on everything make sure coffee was full no complaints at all. nice stop even for travelers on the road for decent home cooked meal. all in all it's you make it in and get parking if you're a truck driver and to get a decent meal still. they do share the bathroom with the travel plaza and it's only a one horse stall because it's a very old building they're talking about possibly getting a new building and tearing the old one down but as of right now March of 2021 that has not happened

OMG, this is the place to go for BBQ!!! We ordered the Sampler Platter, which is known as "a first…read moreclass ticket through their entire pit with a generous sampling of their smoked meats and sides." All I can say it it was some of the best BBQ that I have ever had. Seriously, you MUST go to Scott's Kitchen! I would give it a 10 out of 10.

Fourth time's the charm... right?…read more I was dragged back to Scott's Kitchen for my fourth visit, and I'll give credit where credit is due: there was finally some actual smoke smell! Progress! I'll also admit that the piece of pulled pork I had was pretty decent. Unfortunately, everything else was pretty much what I expected based on my previous visits. My biggest issue is the price. $18 for three tacos is pretty outrageous, especially when that $18 doesn't include a drink, a side, or anything else. At that price, I expect the BBQ to absolutely knock it out of the park. And that's really my problem with Scott's: I just don't understand the hype. In my opinion, it's not one of the top BBQ places in Kansas City, and at these prices, it needs to be. Here's my BBQ rule: if the BBQ can't stand on its own and be great, then you're a restaurant that serves BBQ--not a great BBQ restaurant. I've now been four times, and I keep hoping I'll finally understand what everyone else seems to see. Still waiting. At this point, I may need to order a fifth time just to make sure I'm not missing something... but my wallet is strongly recommending that I stop the investigation.

Our…read moreparty of eight was seated immediately (a rare and glorious feat), and waters arrived in record time. Most of the table fueled up with coffee, while I had to make do with a Diet Pepsi--an acceptable substitute, though my Coke Zero-loving heart shed a quiet tear. The café itself is charmingly quirky, with local artwork adorning the walls--some for sale, some just adding to the cozy atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you instantly feel at home, like a neighborhood gem that's been serving up comfort for years. I ordered the Veggie Lover Breakfast (half portion, $8.99) and a side of raisin toast--because let's be real, if raisin toast is on the menu, it's happening. My husband went all in with the Weston Café Skillet ($12.99), a hearty and reasonably priced meal. Despite the size of our group, the food arrived quickly, hot, and all at once--a small breakfast miracle. If you're in Weston and looking for a friendly spot with great food and small-town charm, Weston Café is the place to be. Just be prepared to settle for Diet Pepsi if you're a Coke Zero fan.

Service was fun and quick. We tried the half skillet (no one needs a whole one ), chicken fried steak, Weston Benedict, and the meat and cheese omelet.
