    Coconut whipped cream pie
    Tracy S.

The buffet looked pretty good with fried chicken, juicy roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, beefy noodles, and full salad bar along with cinnamon gooey cake and cheesecake brownies (not to mention soft serve ice cream). But I didn't want to eat so much that I'd be miserable so I had a half order of hot open faced roast beef sandwich. The roast beef was so tender that I used a spoon! The beef was definitely the star. The bread and potatoes were good. The gravy was pretty decent. It was the perfect amount of food. The coconut cream pie had the best, flaky crust. The coconut and pudding had great flavor. I prefer my whipped cream to be sweeter but the consistency was delicious. I can't wait to return. Oh yeah, you must go next door to the bakery!!!! Their cinnamon rolls are to die for! And jalapeño cheesy bread is some of the best I've ever had. And the pumpkin whoopie pie was delightful--I really loved that. I may come back just for a trip to the bakery.

Roast turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, fried chicken...hmmmmm!

Absolutely amazing food. That is probably some of the best home fried chicken I've ever had. And the mashed potatoes were so phenomenal.

These were really strong. The burnt ends were really solid and the fries they had them on top of were done right with a touch of seasoning. They didn't skimp on the cheese either. I also tried the brisket melt with pepper Jack cheese with a side of potato salad. This sandwich was really good. I was a fan of the spicy Mayo they used with the sandwich as well. The potato salad was also strong! I've always been a fan of a mustard based potato salad. Worth a stop.

My total cost ran about $20 including a $1 charge for using a card instead of cash. I expected great things, but honestly was really disappointed. After driving home & opening my to-go bag a short 5 min after receiving my food, I noticed that they didn't include any plasticware or napkins. Additionally, the 3 meats were room temperature at the best. (Not great when eating BBQ.) The baked beans was the only piping hot part of the meal. The ribs were pretty bland and honestly tasted like they had been sitting out under a warmer for awhile, as they weren't fall-off-the bone tender by any means. The pulled pork was mixed with some sort of sauce and the meat was bland, mushy, and reminded me of school lunches. The only saving grace was that the sliced brisket was able to be dunked in the sauce to give it flavor. The sauce is the only reason I rated this meal a 3/5 - while it is a very watery sauce, the flavors blend nicely together and there is a slight kick at the end! Overall though, if meat needs sauce to be decent, it's probably not great bbq in the first place. Maybe this was just an off-day for the restaurant? I ended up only eating half of the BBQ and instead eating my day old salad in the fridge. I'm pretty bummed.

(Especially in this economy) While ordering online, be aware that the time it says on the ordering portal/site is not generally accurate. I, on multiple occasions, have ordered something with a specific pick up time selected (I left plenty of time, thirty minutes from when I ordered to when I wanted to pick it up) and the food still was not ready. Ex: ordered at 11:30 am, pick up time of 11:55-12:00, food was ready closer to 12:10 and I received the 'your food is ready text' at 12:45 pm. While this isn't a bad thing if you have time, if you're on a tight lunch schedule I'd look otherwise. This location is also a bit smaller than their Parkville location, so if it's crowded it's very noticeable and can get a little overwhelming. I do prefer the Platte City location to Parkville though, as their Parkville location doesn't do that good of a job when I order online (this may just be me but I have to take it into consideration). Overall, I do recommend it, just be aware that it is pricey, when packed it can get a little overwhelming, and be aware of how long you have to eat.

Inside it is tiny with as many tables as the converted gas station could hold. Most of them were occupied with locals AND visitors alike having a bite. Avery, our server, was fast with our drinks and patient while we ordered. I had unsweet, freshly made, iced tea with their Reuben Burger and tots. My Wife had the Patty Melt with tots, my Son had their Hornet Burger with a Sting and fries, while my Daughter had chicken fingers and fries. They came out in a short time after the order being placed ... quite hot and very fresh. I laid into mine with gusto. The rye bread was buttery and toasted to give it a crispy bite with the tangy sauerkraut snap and a creamy thousand island dressing complimenting the swiss cheese melted over a beef patty that oozed just enough to make the bite juicier than it really was. Kathy herself came out to chat with us for a few minutes in-between orders. She happily regaled us with her start up out of a food truck in 2015 and how she moved into the brick and mortar place when it came available. She and her two waitstaff buzzed like busy bees during service and looked like a well oiled team getting every glass refilled and orders placed on the table. If I EVER come back to Hamilton for additional quilting expeditions, Kathy's Kitchen will be in the agenda for breakfast and lunch. Stop by if you are in Hamilton. You won't be disappointed.
