This review is for first timers or out of town visitors! We were in town for the Princess of America pageant and wanted to experience the local fare. Murray's is a gem. About 3-5 minutes from Fairfield suites/Comfort Inn. Here's what you need to know before you go! Also, we were there for lunch on Saturday. 1. When you enter, go to the left and pay at the counter. It's a buffet and you pay before you choose your own table. 2. Drinks are not included. Not a big deal. But it's an extra $3 if you thought it was included. 3. If you select to add a tip to your payment you will be handed the cash amount. It just threw me off a minute. Again, no biggie. Just place the cash on your table for your server. 4. Our server did a great job of refreshing our drinks and taking our used plates. 5. No booths. If you really want a booth, they don't have them. We had a nice table by the window and we were just fine. 6. No alcohol. If you really need a beer or glass of wine with your meal you won't get that. 7. Price. It was $52.11 for two for Saturday buffet with drinks and a 15% tip. It was worth it! 8. The food. Excellent selection of whatever you are hungry for! Fresh grilled steak off the grill, fried fish/chicken/shrimp, Salisbury steak, stir fried chicken, salad bar, on and on. 9. My fave! If you go, you have to get the roast beef! It tastes like your favorite crock pot recipe for slow roast fall apart roast beef. Please see the pic for emphasis. I'm sorry it's not a scratch n sniff. It's Devine. 10. Desserts! The part that brings you back to childhood. The dessert buffet! 11. Overall. A little more than I wanted to spend for lunch, but we were so full we didn't go out for dinner! Yes to all of this! Murrays is THE place my dad takes us out to when we come to Chillicothe for a visit. I look forward to it every time. The whole family does. A place we all agree on from oldest to youngest. Be warned holidays like Mothers day and Fathers day get BUSY, but they do have extra goodies on the menu like ribs or seafoods and cooked to order steaks. Excellent salad bar with loads of options! Lots of entrees and meat varieties. Veggies and sides. bread rolls and you can even find honey butter! They have ample seating. and clean restrooms. a nice dessert bar, cobbler/cake area and even a soft serve ice cream bar. You get in line at entry and select your drinks/pay at the register before sitting down and then getting food. A staff member waits on you, keeping your drinks filled and they can get some extras like ketchup, mustard, steak sauce if you need it for the table. tips are appreciated. Keep in mind busy holidays may call for management to hold the line until patrons leave and more tables open up. but its worth the wait i promise. high chairs available first come first served but i believe they have several. oh did i mention on sunday they serve..BREAKFAST! read more

I was trying to find something to eat on the main drag in Chillicothe, worrying I was going to end up getting fast food. But this one stood out to me, even though I no longer care that much for buffet places. I was actually blown away that this was very clean, and the food was actually hot even though it was probably sitting there for a while. The dessert bar was very nice too, as it had a great selection of pies and cookies that you wouldn't find elsewhere. The place wasn't busy either, and the servers were definitely bored, checking on me every 5 minutes! (Don't worry, I gave them a tip) They were stirring most of the food since it was dead that night. One of the servers told me it used to be a Golden Corral, as it was pretty obvious it was that or Pondegrossa. Again, food was actually good for a buffet place and they have nearly the same selections you would find at other places but if you're ever in this town, stop in. Reasonably priced too! read more

If you can't make up your mind on what to eat , then this is the place to go. The variety was wonderful. All the comfort foods to choose from catfish and shrimp to steak. Great salad bar! The staff were quick to take the dirty plates away and keep your drinks full and were friendly. Definitely recommend stopping in and giving them a try. read more

We stopped in at a busy time. 12:20 on a Sunday. So I half expected to see a messy place, like Golden Corral usually is, but that just want the case. This was a clean and well run establishment. Everyone from the cashier, to the waitress and the buffet servers, everyone, was alert, and helpful. The food was delicious. We , 5 of us, had an assortment of the different offerings and none of us were disappointed. I read the previous negative reviews, and all I can say is any place or person can have a bad day. Be it the customers or the business, I can't say which is which in this case. Having never been here before I can't say for sure if we got lucky or if the other two reviewers were unlucky. I will say, at such a busy time, as when we were there , if anything was going to go wrong, that is when I'd expect it. Yet nothing did as far as I could tell. My ribs were falling off the bone and moist, the salad bar had a wide selection. Desserts were yummy and definitely house made. The fact that the place was spotless still amazes me. Even the areas between the different foods was clean! Bathrooms?; clean. Floors and tables and chairs? ; clean. The place was packed too. I urge anyone reading these reviews to give this place a visit. I've never been there, I will happily eat there again the next time I'm passing through, but the other customers were regulars and there were many of them. So that has to count for something! In fairness , I will say I wasn't thrilled with the blue cheese dressing ( but the ranch was so good!) and the sweet tea needs to be much sweeter in order to be called "Sweet Tea". But then we are from Texas and we know about stuff like that! ;) read more

I used to love eating at Golden Corral, after they quit the franchise and changed their name to Murray's I stoped going, it wasn't because I had anything against the new name, it was more just coincidence that I stoped eating buffets around that time, but enough with the backstory. I finally stoped by and ate and I must say I was dissatisfied, the buffet is smaller and the food I ate was just not that good. The rolls were flat and my fish was undercooked, I did enjoy the desert section but the ice cream was more ice than cream, I think the machine was having a bad day. I do have good news though, the place is very clean and has a great esthetic and the servers are very nice and helpful. I hope my experience was just a fluke but based off of my experience I would not heavily recommend eating at Murray's 1.5/5~ MP read more

This place was a disgrace.. every year on veterans day they always have a free buffet for the veterans well with the pandemic goin around this year they were (supposedly) handing out vouchers for a free buffet but when I got there they said they were not handing out vouchers and that they were already closed at 8:15pm... do not recommend this place read more

Okay it's not as bad as the reviews make it out to be. We are traveling and the Garden China place is closed, not sure why, so we took a chance and went to Murray's. The salad bar is very very good. The food was hot and plentiful. We stopped at lunch time and it was $12.99 a person. We will come back if we are in the area. read more

This place is immaculate, there is not a speck of dust anywhere nor a crumb to be found. We had contact with at least 7 staff members and each one was busy, well trained , on task and extremely friendly! As far as buffets go, I am not usually a fan, but was quite surprised by the exceptional quality of the food. The food was hot, fresh, with plenty of variety. Desserts tasted home made. Beware this is not a dingy chain, where quality is sacrificed. I don't usually give out 5 stars but this is best in class for buffet food. read more

I will not be back at this establishment ever again. As I sat at my table to eat, the cashier (girl in blue) was going over to the buffet and grabbing food with her hands and eating it right at the buffet.. bare hands.. and eating in front of guest. Major health code violation!! Also when I pulled up, 3 people were out back smoking Where guest could see them, which isn't right.. won't be back. Health code violations everywhere as I sat there. I'll make sure to let other guest know that employees touch food with no gloves and eat right off the buffet. And walk around the establishment chewing their food. It would be correct to get a meal while on break, have the food on a plate and eat out of the guest view as a worker. Picking food with bare hands after touching money made me not go back to the buffet. My server was great but I also know that the cashier was in the wrong. She should be taught on food safety, and food handling procedures.. she also never washed her hands from what I saw. Hope this issue is resolved. read more

First I would like to start with there being a waitress that stared at me and my girlfriend while we were eating waiting for us to walk to get another plate so she could rush over and take our old ones, very disrespectful to stand and watch us eat. Also the only thing that was good was ham and dinner rolls, no one was at the grill so I couldn't try the steak but had tried a little bit of everything and the ham and rolls were the least gross. And to top it all off hair in the Mac and cheese! That pushed me to the point of walking out and realizing I wasted $40 for 2 people to eat 1 plate at a subpar buffet. They want to be Golden Corral so bad but they don't have nearly as much food and only a fraction of the tasted. And to top it off it's way over priced. The owner can argue against this post all they want but I will NEVER recommend nor return to the restaurant. People save your money and go elsewhere. read more
