This was very disappointing in something that I had hoped would have been a great experience. As a vegetarian I have always gravitated towards Indian restaurants as they tend to have not only amazing flavor, but a variety of options. Since this was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I was the only person dining there. I figured I would engage in a recommendation between two options on the menu with the server and select the recommendation would ended up being served to me was nothing that I ordered. I don't even really like spinach that much and when I ordered a mango, I still got a sweet Lassie. Overall, I feel like despite being the only person in the restaurant I wasn't important and I wasn't listened to and no assistance or service was offered. I'm more disappointed in the service than I was even with the flavor of the food that I didn't want. I can see why the restaurant was empty at dinner time and although I will be making many trips to Kirksville in the future, this restaurant will not be on my list to return to. read more

Walked in to a very un sanitary restaurant. The first red flag is that NO ONE is ever parked outside. Was met with a un cleaned environment (dead bugs, sticky floors, and very gross seats). After that I ordered the appetizer sampler, and asked for lamb (they didn't have it) so got a different curry. I've have curry all over the world (UK, USA, Turkey) and this is by far the worst experience I've had! Went home and had food poisoning and horrible bubble guts. I hope this place improves as Indian is one of my favorite cuisine's. read more

Update: maybe pass on this place after all. I got butter chicken one time and it was obvious to me they had mixed freshly cooked chicken with some older inventory that had gone off - I bit into a piece that was CLEARLY rancid. On another occasion I got naan, and one of the flatbreads had white droplets of something bitter on it, which I couldn't identify - I suspect it was cleaning solution. read more

Grateful and excited to see South Asian food back in Kirksville. The menu looks great, a solid range of options. I'll be looking forward to trying more. We were cooking the main course at home, so on our only visit thus far we did the appetizer sampler, rice, and two kinds of naan. Unfortunately they were out of keema naan. The food was solid enough, and in the meantime before we get a chance to return, I'm putting this review up to make it easier for other folks to share their experiences. One area I hope they're able to fine tune is value and sustainability - our carryout felt pricier than expected by Kirksville standards, so it may make being a frequent customer a little more difficult. But this may be right given the work that goes into making good food. We'll be cheering them on - I don't at all envy the prospect of opening a restaurant in general, let alone during a pandemic. It's the first time me and my kids ate here. The food was decent but not enough serving portion for the price range. I was also expecting that since it's an Indian food cuisine that they would have Roti or chapati but then Again naan is good too. We're also satisfied with the service and would definitely come back to try their buffets. read more

This has become my favourite local restaurant. The Tandoori Chicken and Saag paneer are two of my favourites. If you really like spicy food, as I do, tell them and they'll make it spicy. Otherwise the heat will be "Midwest Spicy." But tell 'em and the food will sizzle. Better order a side of raita to go over it though :) read more

My husband had the butter chicken and I had chicken tiki masala they were both amazing the garlic naan bread was good and we both had super good cold water. The service was amazing also. We will go back. read more

Kababesh Grill was wonderful. My first impression was that the facility was extremely clean with a relaxed atmosphere. Costumer service was exquisite and very individualized. Both our server and chef thanked us several times for dining with them. There was not a single food item at the buffet that I didn't enjoy (and I tried everything) but especially enjoyed chicken curry with mushroom and rice pudding. The best part is the meal was a great value for the amount of food given. I admire this place for opening up through the pandemic and encourage anyone reading to give the grill a try and support their start up. It would be unfortunate to loose the diversity they bring to the k-ville restaurant scene. I, for one, will definitely return. read more

Much as I was impressed by the terrific selections of entrees, side dishes, etc., I was deLIGHTed by the mango juice & your rice pudding is extraordinary! I've never eaten Indian food before so I thought I'd try it. From tv and movies I was expecting some spicy dishes!! We tried the buffet so we could sample a little of everything and we did. If I'm completely honest it was a little bland and not spicy at all. It wasn't bad tasting in fact my husband doesn't like too spicy so he was ok with it. Since I've never eaten Indian food I have nothing to compare it too but somehow I don't feel like I got the whole Indian food experience. We went to the buffet and everything was very good. Food temperature was hot. The waitress was friendly and quite helpful as this was our first try at Indian/Pakistani food. Everyone in our group of six enjoyed the meal and plan on returning. read more

Meats were overcooked, had huge portions though. Buffet was available recommend the chicken jalfarazi.

this was hands down my favorite place to eat in town. I had many many amazing meals there but today it was beyond disappointing to the point I won't go again. the dish I ordered wasn't at all what I ordered and instead of a saucy delicious Indian dish I've had hundreds of times it was just dry unseasoned sautéed spinach. that is fine but when I started mentioning it to the waitress not even because I wanted to send it back but just to hear maybe about why or what happened she walked off after I started speaking and made a rude comment and rolled her eyes. the waitress being that rude is just unforgivable to me. Stopped by for some Indian food and not impressed. Lone wait staff seemed to "push" buffet on everyone (understandable) but even though contained several options, nothing was very flavorful. Not only was nothing spicy, all but the Butter Chicken were just not highly spiced. Their Raita was mostly watered down yogurt with no recognizable cucumber, cilantro or spice taste. Tandoori chicken was so dried out (?leftover from lunch & micro-ed?) I had to spit out a couple masticated wads, unable to chew enough to swallow. Butter Chicken was good (4 stars) but I've made equivalent at home using jarred sauce. Not anywhere worth $35 dollars for two with no drinks. read more

Good service and great good! The members of our group ordered: Chicken Tikka Masala Lamb Curry Daal Kababish Along with rice and naan. Food was served quickly and tasted amazing. The waitress told us about the boxed lunch special they offer and I believe my college age son is hooked. Will definitely be back the next time we're in town. read more

Have eaten here several times and consistently receive excellent food. I had the prawn karahi with garlic naan tonight, and it was so good. Plus, the portion was large enough I took home enough for another meal. Bonus!
