Delicious, down home comfort food. I was traveling with my mom and saw this place on Yelp and decided to go to brunch there after church on Sunday. We got seated right away and our server was super nice and patient with us as we maneuvered through the menu, figuring out what to order. There's too many amazing sounding items on the menu! I wanted to order one thing from each section just so I can have a little taste. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak with a biscuit because you gotta have the biscuit! My mom ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken fried steak was enormous! I only ate a little more than a 1/4 of it and took the rest home. The gravy was really delicious. It wasn't salty and there was so much flavor. Of course I dipped my biscuit in it too. Biscuit was also humongous. I finished half of it. I didn't get to try my mom's chicken and waffles but she said she really liked it. She also didn't finish it so we took it back to the hotel. Thankfully we had a fridge and a microwave to store and heat it all up. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back and try some other stuff. Passing through.. fair place , kind of expensive for what you get. Seems busy enough, so I am guessing people really like it. I personally did not care for it. I feel the hollandaise sauce had a heavy mayonnaise base that I don't care for. The biscuits I got were dry and not what I would expect from a place who is known for biscuits. Went on a day trip to St Joe and we always like to try a local place. For some reason this place was voted "Best of". We will not be going back. Bacon was burnt, pancakes were underdone causing them to be mushy and gross! Coffee had been sitting in the burner for hours. Pretty obvious by the burnt taste. Solid brunch and lunch spot in St. Joe's! The menu has so many different items to choose from. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. I ordered the patty melt which was good I think next time I would go for the monster burrito! It looked delicious. I'm sure the grass is always greener on the other side anyways. Quick, friendly service, from initially being greeted, seated and served. Larger than expected but well lit, clean and decor was historical prints. This should get even more than five stars. We tried this placed based on Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. The portions are huge and delicious. The bacon was the star, but then again...its bacon. My son got the cinnamon roll pancakes and they filled the plate. I had French toast and loved it. Even better, the server was excellent. If youre from out of state please don't stop here!! Chick fil a is two exits down the highway (even if you're not a fan it will be better.) The food here is frozen, salty, over processed. Pro: our waitress was nice and bad food is not her fault. She tried her best to resolve and make her client happy. Con: the food (minus the biscuit and chicken bun). My yard bird chicken was rubbery, could barely even cut it with my knife. My husband's kickin chicken is supposed to have 24 hour brined chicken and it was missing half the breading, was rubbery and also hard to cut. The kickin chicken breast looked like it was frozen, tossed in breading and quickly flash fried, even had pink spots! Fries and potatoes are super salty to the point where you can see the salt crystals without having the plate up close. If you have to add that much salt and seasoning to food then it's an indication that it's not that good. Eggs are so yellow and look like they are from a bag. I asked for one side egg scrambled , it looked chopped into hard pieces like a child had cooked it and it was cold! Now I'm leaving with a disgusting taste in my mouth that has created a film in my pallet. Last thing - waitress told me the butter was not real butter... save your money! Ps. I am gluten intolerant so I haven't tried much at The Big Biscuit. The only options I have found (and to be clear, none of these things would be celiac safe), are eggs, bacon, and grits. Went this morning about 10 a.m. because thought it would not be busy, and it wasn't, so far so good. We were seated quickly but the waitress (middle age black lady) never came to take our orders. She was the only one who appeared to be working our area up front where we were seated, but she ignored us and was chatting with another couple who were seated in our area. We waited five minutes, ten minutes, fifteen minutes, no sign of her indicating she was done chatting. After 20 minutes while she was still chatting we left and went elsewhere. Also, there were a couple female employees in the back part of the restaurant and one of them whacked the breast of the other intentionally as she walked by, very unprofessional. read more

Holy $h1t, this place was so good. We went in on a Saturday morning at prime brunch time with 6 people, so we had a little bit of a wait for 2 tables together to become available. However, everyone else seemed to be seated quickly. Our server was darling. She was so friendly but didn't hold back on giving some of the guys in our group a little trouble (in a really funny, good way). All of our orders were correct and the food came out nearly immediately. I had the county fried steak and eggs. Good grief, it came out on multiple plates, there was so much. The chicken was not the fried frozen patty you're used to for country fried steak; it was a thin cut chicken breast actually buttered and fried. If the scrambled eggs I got were really just 2 eggs, they must be ostrich eggs, because it was an entire plate full. The hash browns were delicious, as was the biscuit. My husband got the Titanic omelet and loved it. We both left with enough leftovers, that we had breakfast for the next 3 days (well, I did; he devoured all his the next day ‍). Everyone in our group had all positive things to say about their food. The place was clean and conveniently located. I thought the prices were a little more than I would normally want to pay for breakfast (self admitted cheapskate, though), but once I saw the gigantic portions, I didn't think it was a bad deal. Came here for a church meeting and it was awesome! We had the sweetest waitress and the food was amazing. The burger was so juicy and had just the right amount of seasoning. I ate my burger without the bun so if you're looking for keto/low carb options, you need not worry, there are plenty. They do have a notice on their website to inform them if you have food allergies so I'm thinking that they can make accommodations for you for gluten-free. The breakfast and lunch menu is available all day long so if you're not a huge breakfast fan you have options. My husband got the patty melt and it was also great! Breakfast is their game. Good place to gather your for breakfast with your family. We have stopped in every time we visit family in the area. Let's everyone get the breakfast they want without spending the entire morning in the kitchen and making a mess We did have to wait 60 minutes this visit but also had a larger group and we needed to wait until the larger tables were ready. Everyone else appeared to be seated within 10 minutes or less. Food came out in stages so half of our table was about done eating by the time the other half of the food came out. First, they leave a small pot of coffee on the table, so you don't have to worry about a waiter/waitress coming up and refilling your coffee when you've gotten just the right amount of creamer and sugar! We stopped because of Yelp reviews. The service was excellent. The waitress walked us through the menu when she heard we were first timers. She pointed out some items that are popular with customers, including the chicken. My husband had the traditional Benedict, He rated it good but not the best he'd ever had. I ordered the chicken strip basket that came with biscuit and choice of fries or salad. The salad and biscuit were excellent. For a restaurant that named itself after its biscuit, I would have liked more choices than grape or strawberry jelly, though. Maybe blackberry or honey? The chicken strips were disappointing. They were very salty and cut unevenly so that one end was nicely cooked and the other was petrified. The restaurant was clean inside and had lots of seating. There was a nice seating area at the entrance in case of a wait and two benches outdoors. The parking lot had quite a bit of trash and one of the outdoor benches had trash on it too. The outdoor areas probably belong to the strip mall but the restaurant would do well to patrol it occasionally. We probably ordered the wrong items. Other customers with giant pancakes and biscuits and gravy seemed satisfied. The food was average and if we were in the area again, we would probably try someplace else. read more

WOW!!!! Take the name for what is. Except it is more than big biscuits. As a matter of fact I did not even have one. But what I did have was absolutely delicious. It was the Alamo burrito filled with everything except the kitchen sink. I then added a bowl of gravy to top it off and that made it even better. Being from Columbus, Oh, if I ever get back to St. Joseph I would definitely return to The Big Biscuit and would not hesitate to order the same thing again. I've eaten here a few times in the last month. The food is, okay at best in all honesty. If this were just about the food then 4 stars for sure. However, the Big Biscuit has some of the worst service of any restaurant in Saint Joseph. It doesn't matter if you're sitting down to eat or just picking up a mobile order you're in for dissatisfaction. They take forever, and the servers are impatient and unfriendly. I stood at the door for 9 minutes silently waiting to just pick up an order before I was even acknowledged by the hostess when I ordered online.
