This was our first time eating at McAlister's. I gave it a 1 because we both ordered chicken tortilla soup and it was the worst chicken tortilla soup I have ever eaten. It was more like cheesy broth with a couple of small pieces of chicken and a couple of peas. It was really terrible soup. They should take it off of their menu. read more

I orders ice tea, cookies (to take home), and the choose 2. I initially chose 1/2 sandwich (it was good), and 1/2 soup with the soup being chicken pot pie. When I took the first bite of soup it was called and had just arrived at the table. I asked them to just exchange it for baked potato soup and it was hot, but no potatoes. It was only broth, a few chives, and a tiny bit of bacon. Highly disappointed! At this point I'm just done, so it was time to move on because if it's not right after 2 times then it's not going to be right a third time! Ice tea was great. Cookies are yet to be determined. Food was fresh and tasted great. Plates, silverware cups and tables appeared clean. Our cashier was very friendly and went out of her way to make sure our drinks were fresh (she had to change a soda syrup out) before even handing us a drink that wouldn't taste right. I commend that because normally they don't pay attention and customers are the ones who have to complain for them to change out the bag. Went to McAllister after baseball practice and one of the first things I did was stand under a fan, I didn't feel any air coming out of it and did not cool me down, so invest in some better fans. My sandwich was decent. Could use more horseradish and some better bread other than just wheat. But that's probably just on me for ordering the wrong thing. Mac and cheese was also pretty decent. Other than that, the service was good. The food came out quick and the people were always walking around asking about refills which was very good read more

Today was the first time we tried out McAlisters Deli! We made it in there before the rush came in so it was a nice quiet restaurant. Which was nice. I'm not a huge fan of large crowds so it was the ideal time for me. Walk in & there were 3 people at the counter. Some friendly some didn't say a word. No biggie. There were menus you could look at if you couldn't see the board, which was a nice option. We ordered and the food came out pretty quick. Within 10 mins or so we had our food and it was delicious. The meat on the French dip was tender and juicy. Sandwich was loaded with meat, which was awesome. Some places tend to skimp on the meat, but not this place. It was loaded. Only thing was I wish I would of ordered extra cheese. I got a side of broccoli cheddar soup & it was also delicious! It was loaded with carrots and broccoli so that made it even better. I love a chunky filled soup! We made it before the rush of lunch so we had a lot of options for seating. Chose a table by the window so we could watch out the window. We had some kiddos outside entertaining themselves by trying to get people to honk & wave. It was cute! I was also told that the bathrooms (2-3 stalls) there were also very clean as well as the rest of the restaurant. There is a sign that states to leave your plates on the table so the staff know which tables need sanitized. I love that idea. You know the tables are getting cleaned after every customer. A group of us went to lunch and someone chose this place. When I asked the cashier about vegan options he told me that he had never heard of "vegan" and didn't know what it was. lol He ended up going back to the kitchen to find out what was vegan and/or veganizeable. I ended up getting the chili and a veggie sandwich without the cheese. Veggie sandwich, post veganization, was boring and bland. The veggie chili is vegan and delicious, however, it alone is not reason for me to ever go out of my way to revisit this deli. I do appreciate that they offer one good vegan option though. read more

Ordered a garden salad for lunch and when I opened the box, over half of the lettuce is brown and wilted. Called the store to inform them and received attitude from the manager stating all of their salads are made fresh in the morning. There was no apology, just attitude. Let the photos be your judge. Completely burnt. A table spoon of chicken salad. Half sandwich seemed small, but I guess it probably shrinks when engulfed by flame. The family spent $50 bucks on carry out. I know...not too terrible much in these days. I figure we will just never go back. Oh heck...I decided to go talk to a manager. Might as well waste my whole Friday night and drive back. She told me that's how they usually are, but this was a bit burnt. So I followed up and asked if I was eating in, you'd proudly serve me this exact sandwich, which she replied yes. So I showed the other people in line and asked them if they thought this was edible...all were a big NO. I could see that the shift manager did not give a hoot. She offered to remake it. I just got a refund. I mean really what's the point when it's clear that the manager and staff don't care whatsoever. By this time I'd probably receive a sandwich with a Lou-gee in it. And if I tried to get through to her I'd probably be in a TikTok video...lol. It's disheartening what these workers think is acceptable. Horrible experience! I've ordered from here before, but today was different. I ordered off the app and was told it would be ready at a certain time. I got there just after the scheduled time and got a notification that my order was ready. A couple minutes later a gal finally asked if she could help me. She checked on my order and told me my order got pushed to the back because it was an internet order and it would be ready in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later my food was delivered and I was then told they lost my receipt and that is why it was late. I don't know what took so long to pack up nachos. When I opened the box all I had were small pieces of chips and crumbs. This location in St. Joseph is pretty consistent. Each time I've gone it has been pretty efficient, food served at a reasonable time, service is good (could be a little friendlier), and food quality has been good as well. I love McAlister's SWEET TEA the most. We started frequenting McAlister's when we lived in Memphis, TN, and when they moved into the area I was very happy! I typically get the salad and sandwich or salad and potato combos. The portions are pretty huge on some items. If you get a single salad, it is literally a HUGE portion and hard to finish. The Italian Chopped Salad is a favorite. Loaded with romaine, cheese, olives, onion, salami, etc. with a balsamic dressing. The loaded potatoes will feed you and another 2 adults! read more

Definitely, my favorite lunch spot in St. Joe. I have probably completed dozens of the "Free Meal", "Free Tea" cards. Since the first day McAlister's has opened, I've been a regular. The menu is fresh, unique, and is frequently home to new additions. Their menu includes: * Clubs * Panini's * Wraps * Hot Sandwiches * Classic Sandwiches * Salads * Giant "infant-sized" Spuds * Appetizers * Desserts Every entrée item I've tried has been absolutely delicious. My favorites would have to be the McAlister Club or the Cobb Club. Mmm...mmm...mmmm... As for as the sides, I'm not the person to ask which is the best. Since day one, I've gotten nothing but the potato salad. It's that good. I don't care or am even curious about the other sides, it's that good. The pickle, however, is sad-looking. I have this thing about pickles. I know it's not the main part of your meal, but it's important to me. It's all about the details. The tea, on the other hand, is addictive. Luckily, they give you a bucket of drink with your meal, so it generally lasts awhile. Generally, after repetitively going to the same restaurant, I'll eventually get burned out on a place. Not with McAlister's. There are times my husband and I will eat there 3 times in a week. McAlister's is always packed around lunchtime. Nearly every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the line makes it out the door. If you want to avoid the traffic, it's better to go in the evening. There's generally no wait to order. Busier times always makes getting refills lengthy. I've not only eaten at McAlister's, I've taken advantage of their catering service. Their prices are highly competitive and the service was great. All of my orders were on time and meals were individually packaged. This eliminated the problem of "over-eaters."
