Really good diner! Service was small town truly friendly, and like other reviews say, portions are huge. As in the fillings were falling out of hubs Rueben sandwich which could have fed us both. I had a half tenderloin, also huge. Rueben was great, tenderloin pretty darn good, hot out of the fryer, breading perfect, I wished for a bit more seasoning, but overall very good. Suggest you order an entree to share and pick up an extra side unless you want leftovers. We saw a couple hamburgers come out and I don't think even hubs could finish one. I'd like to go back and save room for pie! This place is popular so expect it to be busy and the food may take longer than 5 minutes but it's okay because the locals are friendly and if you're there, you're a local too. read more

Total disappointment.. The burger was sopping with grease, the fries were from a frozen bag, the Pepsi was flat, the Tenderloin was bland. I returned the burger as it was not edible. My wife ended up sick later that evening from eating only a portion of the tenderloin. Not to mention the place was full of flies and the seating was terrible. Amazing has to start at the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. Not only is it the largest and thickest that I have ever seen, but it tastes fantastic also. My wife had the grilled chicken BLT and she loved it as well. The tables in the front room main seating area are designed to be more family style to accommodate more patrons. I understand that there is additional seating in the back, but I did not see it. It was busy when we arrived around 11:25AM for lunch. Our server told us that the tenderloin would take a little bit of time and we were fine with that. Any sandwich that has a pizza box as it's "to go" package has to be huge. I have eaten a lot of pork tenderloins growing up in the Midwest, but have never had one as meaty, tenderloin and spiced perfectly as this one. Had to try their breakfast! I ordered potatoes and onions with a side of sausage patties. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy with two eggs over easy and sausage patties. Our waitress was very friendly. She got us everything we needed. It's always a friendly place, community type seating. Always met with a smile. I called ahead and ordered food after reading their writeups and weren't scheduled to arrive till 2:08pm (they close at 2pm). As luck would have it we missed the turn off and turned around 10mi past their exit. I'm glad we did! Craig, MO is a quaint little town and the food at Paula's is abundant and delicious. The meat on the cheesesteak was tender, lean, and seasoned just right. It was smothered w/ peppers and onions and absolutely filled the to-go container. Instead of a roll they used two hamburger buns which was perfect to share w/ the hubbie. We were so hungry we ripped into it b4 I thought to take a pic! The sides were decent and abundant. There are a few of us working out of town, in Craig mo. We found this restaurant and couldn't say enough good things about it. We have gone there for lunch most every day for 2 weeks and have yet had anything that was not excellent. The service is very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The portions are much larger than I'm use to for the price. There were 4 of us that ordered a meat pizza and we each had 2 pieces and were stuffed. "We are not small guys." Paula's cafe has a real country feel on one side, and a 50's red and black theme on the other. We decided to stop in for breakfast after being frequent flyers for lunch. Turns out the portion sizes are just as large as their lunch specials. They've got a nice community table where you'll see all the local farmers chatting it up ... So don't worry when they look you over upon arrival. Just take a seat and enjoy the atmosphere and food! You'll want to come back for lunch and dinner! We ordered an omelet and a ham steak breakfast. I went for the their famous Tenderloin but because of not ordering their meat for the week no tenderloins. So I ordered a Reuben. It was big on appearance.but the Reuben was a scrap sandwich no big pieces of corn beef just a mixture of scraps of beef and corn beef.Ccouldn't really see the sandwich it was covered with dressing. I guess to hide the meat. I still want to try the tenderloin. Our family of 4 driving from KC to Omaha, searching for a lunch spot and found this place on Yelp. TINY rundown town of Craig with population of 175. When we arrived about half the town was inside eating. I had read in other reviews the burgers were huge and delicious and positive reviews on the Reuben. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers, one Paula's Special burger and a Reuben. The burgers were $8.95 and advertised as 1/2 pound. I am pretty sure their scale was broken as that was the biggest 1/2 pound I have ever seen. Cooked perfectly, high quality meat which I wasn't expecting considering size and price, I said add jalapeños and there was probably half a jar of jalapeños overflowing from my burger. The Paula's Special was ridiculously big. My son is a 6' 2" offensive lineman, he could only eat half and was embarrassed as he doesn't remember ever leaving that much food on his plate. At another restaurant, this easily could have been a $20 burger and I would have totally understood why. My wife loves her Reubens, this one was outstanding. Great fries, great sweet potato fries.
