I wanted to give a positive comment about some associates in our Leavenworth/Lansing KS store for yesterday 22March purchase. Mary assisted me in outside lights, an associate with a ladder question, a RYOBI question and Shannon assisted at checkout. At check out Shannon completed my transaction unfortunately a glitch with in stock inventory on hand was questionable so she fouls me an alternative better option. The Depot has become one of our favorite places to eat while living at Fort Leavenworth during my time attending CGSC. We've eaten here repeatedly, and every visit has been a great experience. As an option in Leavenworth this is a hit. Super traditional, busy every day of the week, and a great choice for breakfast, lunch, and/or early dinner. Wonderful staff as well. However, truly traditional and not much flavor or things to write home about. We will totally try again to see, but in my opinion a local staple no matter the flavor. read more

The food is so good and worth the wait. We waited about an hour on a Sunday morning. But once we got our food it was worth it. The sweet and spicy bacon was a hit and so was the chicken hash. They flip tables quickly and have a lot of staff to keep tables flowing. We can't wait to try the lunch menu. read more

We were some of the last seated on a Thursday. Very lucky! The Reuben is the Perfect size, not overwhelming and was delicious. We ordered that and waffles with strawberries, again delicious! The ambience was great, had this little one starting at us the whole time. read more

I have eaten at this place more times than I can count and I have NEVER had bad food. There is a reason there is a line out of the door on most days and it's 100% because the food and service here is amazing. I really wish I had experience with more of the food but I can't break away from the same 3 things (the gravy train, huevos rancheros, smoked chicken hash benedict). Always my staple foods here and always amazing. The last time I went was worth a picture and I can't believe I havent reviewed a hometown secret like The Depot before now. Generally speaking, this is a decent place to either get breakfast, lunch, or brunch. I don't think I have ever been here when there was not a wait so be prepared for no more than 15 minutes. Although full to the brim, the service is fast and efficient and the food is promptly delivered. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. read more

The atmosphere and staff were ahhhmazing. The food was very tasty. In truth my eggs didnt come out right but they were so quick to make it right and they did! The local hot sauces are to die for!! Make sure to pick up some on your way out! The brussel sprouts were crispy and my favorite. Parking can be tight! Little well behaved dogs welcome..lol. lots of nooks to be seated in. We were immediately greeted by one of the waiters, led to our table and got our drinks. The server was a bit loud but he was kind and attentive. I had the steak salad with a fruit cup on the side. Husband had the lady marmalade and chicken tenders and fries for our babies. My food was good, steak was cooked just like I wanted. Husband liked his burger but it was a little too sweet for his taste. Our babies chicken tenders were a little passed crispy for them to eat it so they just ate the fries and snacked on the complementary cinnamon rolls the waiter brought for them. Which was also good. Mac and cheese was okay in my opinion. At the end we went to pay and the lady in the front did not acknowledge us there at all and was having a conversation with another woman on the side. She just waved and said to tap our card when we're ready. On top of that we find out our kids food isn't $6 like it says on the paper they give you, it's actually $14 for the burnt chicken tenter pieces and fries with a kiddy cup. In total our entire meal was a little over $66. It was an alright experience eating here. Inside looks clean. Waiters are nice. Tables are a little crowded next to each other. Passing through and so glad I passed on the hotel's breakfast and came here. The staff are all so welcoming and kind. The owner was here, there and everywhere on top of everything ensuring great customer experience. My waiter was Nick and he just was such a bright spot. Driving from California to Florida with my dog is a dreary adventure and smiles and kind attention really made this stop a great respite. I came for breakfast, which I had (railway), but I love bread pudding, so had to order that too. Getting ready to leave with left overs galore to enjoy tonight. Poached eggs - I asked for soft and the cook aced it!!! And these look and taste like true farm eggs (raised Rhode Island Reds years ago). Bread Pudding - oh my! So delicious and I got the prize, a corner piece. It's a meal in itself. Coffee - no one hardly ever mentions the coffee, but best coffee I've had since leaving home! The environment is charming. Wow!! What a treat!! The Depot was a bright spot in our trip to Leavenworth. Grace was an amazing server and took excellent care of us. I had 2 eggs, delicious crispy hash browns, and 3 sausage patties. I ordered two extra patties because they were so delicious. My wife had some eggs, biscuits and gravy and sausage as well. She got some hashbrowns, too. She loved every bite of all of it. I thought the restaurant was very cute and definitely a historic building. Stopped by here to have breakfast with a coworker before a conference. He had biscuit and gravy and I had 2 eggs, ham, and hash browns. We also had coffee and orange juice. It was all hot and fresh and very tasty. The wait staff was amazing! They were attentive to our table and were quick to respond with condiments we ran out of. I would have given it 5 stars but the lady at the desk who took my payment did not even speak to me. She took the bill, pointed silently at the payment screen and acted as if we were not there. That was unfortunate as the breakfast was awesome. Will stop by the next time I am in town and hopefully it will end better. read more

Simply amazing! The location could not be more adorable, still all of the original woodwork from the 1800s beautiful location! Then there is the food, I have never in my life had better bacon than the sweet and sour bacon that I had as my appetizer today. I cannot believe I've been eating bacon wrong my entire life before now, but I'm not sure any other bacon will ever hold up to this. The cinnamon rolls were heavenly, and my breakfast meal was absolutely delicious. Not a single bite of it was out of place. Our server Dylan was so sweet and took great care of us and even the owner Mary , who is very hands on, cleaning tables and working the floor, came to our table for a chat! While visiting Leavenworth, I had a few mornings with enough time to get a decent breakfast. The Depot was highly rated, and did not disappoint. My wife and I tried two of the hash/Benedict breakfast plates, and both were amazing. The coffee was excellent and they left a carafe on the table for refills. Finally - there was a changing table in the men's restroom, which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine with restaurants. Thank you for that! read more

First the fact that the building was built in the 1800s when architecture was beautiful and functional. Then they have great good comfort type food with some modern flair. The old historic depot was gorgeous with all of the old beautiful wood floors, trim, and arches. They started out with bringing us a pot of coffee that was really flavorful and some mini cinnamon muffins that melted in your mouth. I had one of their specialties smoked chicken eggs Benedict that included roasted sweet potato. The eggs were poached perfectly and so flavorful. Nick our server was courteous and very knowledgeable about the food and the building (his parents own the restaurant). He made our first visit to The Depot well worth the visit. Really lovely place for breakfast, with wait staff that are friendly and attentive. Got the egg white omelette, came stuffed with goat cheese and sautéed spinach. Their menu is pretty large, so it's easy to find something for everyone. They're happy to substitute sides, or to add cheese/avocado whatever to your meal. My 7 year old son and I had an absolutely great dining experience at The Depot. The server was very friendly to both of us and engaged well with my son so he felt comfortable ordering his own food. Service was quick and the huevos rancheros was delicious. It pairs well with their Gunslinger hot sauce to make it have a little more kick without drastically altering the taste of the food. I ordered the Gravy Train; crisp hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage patties on a homemade biscuit topped with their homemade sausage gravy. It was perfect. I was afraid they were going to drench it with gravy, but it had a perfect amount of gravy. The biscuit were very good. Everything tasted liked they belonged together. I made a great choice. My wife ordered pancakes with poached eggs. The pancakes were very good. Not too dense and didn't have a floury taste. Easily some of the best pancakes we have had. Food: they give every table a small serving (2 pieces) of in house made donut balls. Had a small unfortunate experience with mine that required the managers attention and them redoing the batch. Once an issue was brought to the waitresses attention it was addressed and the manager or owner came to the table to apologize and explain how he was fixing it for everyone else.
