Stopped in for a dinner while in town for a sporting event and were able to get seated and helped quickly even on a busy Friday night. We started with the calamari and it was some of the best calamari that we had had. The kids even asked for another order since the first went so quickly. One of the kids then had chicken tenders and the other had the salmon grilled. Both liked their food a lot and thought it was prepared well. I did 2 mahi tacos and they were delicious. I didn't have the hot sauce, but it was still full of flavor for me and I enjoyed them. The two was plenty of food for me. Service was fantastic and attentive. When I walk inside Tin Fish, In feel like I'm at home in New England but at a more modern concepted seafood restaurant. The seafood is a fresh as you can get and it is well prepared. This most recent visit, our main course was great. I had grilled mahi mahi. The vegetables were a skimpy portion and they looked like they had been sitting around for the day. The cole slaw is delicious. It sits in a sweet vinegarette. The Fisherman's platter was a nice assortment of fried fish, shrimp, and clams with a side of fries. The appetizer of grilled oysters was rather a disappointment. Four grilled oysters. Two were normal size and two were tiny ones. The fresh garlic seasoning was good but it didn't hit a high note. We usually get the spicy calamari and now I'm kicking myself. I ordered coffee. It seemed to take forever but Il had water in the meantime. Finally I was brought out a cup and told the filter broke so see if it's okay. It was bitter and lukewarm. I have a feeling it was old. It was 7:00 pm and I'm sure that they didn't have too many people ordering coffee. The staff did make another pot and the second cup was great. We've met the chef/owner before and had amazing experiences. This trip was just off a bit. One staff member spent a good 20 minutes talking loudly to a nearby table. My daughter and I were in the area, after getting the go-ahead from her pediatrician, so we decided to give Tin Fish a try. We'd seen their menu on yelp. I wanted the oyster po-boy and she wanted the kids quesadilla. We got there right as they opened and our server Todd greeted us immediately. We get the menu and neither item is on it. No worries, Todd checked with the chef and he could make them for us. I usually like my oyster po-boys with just mayo or an aoli, so I was a little nervous when it showed up with two sauces already on and one of them was a hot sauce. I never eat hot sauce. I'm so glad I forgot to ask about that before, because I would have had them leave off the sauces and would have missed out. They worked perfectly together and with the sandwich. The chef even came out to ask me how those sauces worked on it. In addition, there had to be a dozen oysters on that sandwich! My daughter loved her quesadilla. Yes, it was just cheese, but you'd be amazed how many times she's ordered that and it's been terrible! She said this was cooked perfectly and nice and cheesy! For dessert, my daughter got the salted caramel cheesecake and I got the fresh strawberry bread pudding special. Please excuse the bites taken out, I forgot to take the picture first. The chef came out to ask me if I wanted real bourbon sauce on the bread pudding, and of course I did! Both of these desserts were roll your eyes back good! Service, food ambiance were all perfect! My family and I wanted to try a new seafood restaurant, and we ended up at this shopping plaza where this establishment is located. Upon walking up to this place, it was empty for Super Bowl Sunday, which was an immediate red flag that I chose to ignore. They had an outdoor setup with a huge flat screen TV, and no one was occupying the tables, but we continued to walk in. When we walked inside, it was empty as well. There was a JK Simmons lookalike playing the trumpet, but for the wait staff only, as it was one of the waitresses birthday. We were immediately seated, of course, the place was empty. We were brought our drinks and our appetizers which were off to a great start. I was thinking to myself, "Wow!" I was already full from my small appetizers which were the Mahi fingers (fish sticks from the freezer aisle at the markets, if you ask me), conch fritters that were very good, and the fish dip that needed the jalapeños to give it some sort of a taste. I had ordered shrimp and grits, but I was too full to eat not even half. The grits were creamy and had this amazing smooth texture paired with 5 pieces of shrimp but the sauce for the shrimp could have used a bit more of a kick, in my opinion. My husband and my mother both ordered the lobster rolls, and quite honestly, that's where things went downhill. The lobster must have been boiled prior to cooking because it was so rubbery and did not taste fresh, and no butter for dipping. It had the consistency of my dogs kong toy. My mom left the rest of the roll on her plate and was very disappointed because the roll was around $27. Yikes, low quality food for extremely high prices. My husband noticed it too, but he chose to eat his because he was starving and at that point he might as well have eaten rocks. I chose not to say anything or make any complaints about the quality of the food because of confrontation and possible contamination. The only 2 great things we have to say about that place is the service and the trumpet player. Linguine with clam sauce was so oily, I didn't eat it. The grilled mahi was paper thin, no flavor and not tasty. My experience was extremely disappointing. The food was bland and poorly prepared, lacking any semblance of flavor or freshness. Additionally, the service was slow and inattentive. I absolutely HATE writing bad reviews. I'm one of those people who would rather stay silent than bash a company. This is doubled for small and locally owned businesses but sometimes it's a civic responsibility to post an honest review just as much as I do a great review. Tonight's a sad 1.5 star review. I arrived at the location and had to wait. No problem considering the unprecedented circumstances. We were told 30-35 minutes. After waiting 55 minutes and only asking for an update after waiting 30 minutes twice, we were rudely being discussed by the host with another staff member. The guy who she was talking to was giving a very aggressive vibe. ONLY because we waited and raved about the tacos to our friend who also waited did we stay. We stayed. Our server was amazing. The host continued to make known their discontent with our presence with little side reminders under her breath with the gentlemen who continued to validate her invalid feelings. We watched as others were seated out of order. We wore masks (which very few people did). We only asked for an update after the time we were estimated expired. We did not pester or badger anyone being conscious of how times have changed. But boy did this guy feel the extended need to make sure (I'm not even including a detail play-by-play) we knew we were not welcome. He wasn't even our server yet the only time he felt the need to speak directly to us (and not about us) was when we asked a simple question like "how much was a drink" to our own server. This evening I visited Tin Fish for a Fish and Chips best fresh meal and prepared while you wait experience. I had one of the most deliciously light tap beers there called the Bone Hook Beer. I am traditionally a Carona person but this beer was the best taps that I have tasted in a while. My surprise when I walked in to meet the chef . I had to say hi because he never disappoints with his daily cooking skills. Obviously I had the key lime pie compliments of the staff and my fish and chips. Dessert on display : Hugh chocolate cake ,Carot cake and some cornbread . The bartender Lee was very nice as well , great service and company I could tell she loved her job. I came to Tin Fish lured by the awesome Tuna Stack picture I saw on the internet. We got there at around 8:00 pm , the inside was full. It's not a big restaurant. They do have outside sitting, and that's where we sat. We were brought menus and of course the first thing we ordered was the $33 tuna stack. I must say that for the place (ambience, decor, table setting) is a little expensive. Is it worth the money? Size and quantity of tuna, yes, definitely! Taste? Not so much. It was the blandest appetizer I have ever had! It came on a bed of green, with a little balsamic drizzle I assume, it had hardly any taste to it. There was absolutely no taste to this dish. Tuna was fresh, though. The greens were a little wilted and dry. Not much avocado. Maybe they want to leave the tuna alone for you to be able to taste the freshness, but still needed something. It came with some pita chips which were awesome. If the tuna was left unseasoned because you're supposed to eat it with the chips, I didn't. I prefer to eat my tuna by itself. Wouldn't get it again. I got the house Cabernet. It was actually good. As my entree I got the Grilled Mahi and Shrimp platter. It came with vegetables. It was very good. I loved both the fish and shrimp. These were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Price point is on the higher side of affordable for the restaurant, but it would not break the bank. Service was good, this is a very casual place. Out waiter (I think his name is Larry) was nice, he suggested a couple of things. Overall I give it a 3.5 star rating. I debated before writing this review whether I would round up or down. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but the food was fresh. Service was good. If that's all you look for, then this is your place. read more

The food here is amazing! After hearing about this place for so long I finally was able to give it a try and it did not disappoint! We ordered the whole fish, which they bring you the fish to the table and show it to you before preparing it. The one we got was about 2lb Yellowtail, we got it with the Asian sauce based on our waiter's suggestion and it was great. Split the whole fish and tuna poke between 2 people, the fish was so big and filling that we ended up taking most of the poke home! Sadly I don't know where to start. Had great hope for this place all day - after all, who wouldn't be excited about fish in South Florida? What a letdown. This is a depressing, sad place. We tried the outside patio first. Mismatched uncomfortable furniture. Moved inside and things didn't improve. Dark, empty place with kitchen staff sitting in the corner apparently with nothing to do. Again, a hodgepodge of furniture. The gentleman playing music was trying but he's a trumpet soloist. The entire place gives off the vibes that they've just given up. 7:00 on a Saturday night and there might have been 15 people there. Had a drink and left to find another spot. As my wife said, it seems like a perfect place for a visit from Gordon Ramsay. It hurts to write this but this place needs a physical and emotional makeover. read more

I'm local and this is THE best spot fish spot. I've become a self-proclaimed regular at Tin Fish, and I'd love to update my review when I have more to talk about. If other restaurants' fish were half as good as Tin Fish's, then I'd eat a LOT more fish. Chef Joe's name is listed on the exterior, and his bio is on the back of the menu. It seems he's there most of the time or all of the time. He knows his stuff. The atmosphere is casual. It is neither rowdy nor posh. I can go in my work clothes or athletic wear and be fine. The spot is usually well-staffed with excellent service. The kitchen is efficient; the food doesn't take very long to come out once you order. Everything has been incredible, except the fried salmon someone persuaded me to try. That salmon was decent, but please just order salmon grilled and be adventurous elsewhere. The Ceviche is very special. They use snapper, and it comes with divine house made chips. You can tell the chips are house made. I wish I could buy them at the adore. The ceviche is not spicy. The Kaboom Shrimp is incredible. Try it in the Shrimp Tacos. My boyfriend says it's the best shrimp taco he's ever had. 10/10. The Fried Calamari is always incredible. Can't go wrong with it. There will be no leftovers. My favorite dish is the small Fried Mahi platter - Tin Fish style - grilled. The fish is soooo good. If it were a restaurant on the water in Fort Lauderdale, people would line up for hours. I think the price has been ~$17-23. Whatever the price is, I find it to be the best deal for me. I was so excited to visit Tin Fish. I'd heard so many wonderful things about their food and service and it helps that I LoVE seafood. My first time visiting was with my husband on a late afternoon on our way home. Before we got there I called ahead and placed our order. The process was easy and it helped that the waitress was super friendly. When she found out it was my first time she took her time telling me about some specials and offering some personal favorites. We ordered the, Kaboom Shrimp, large Conch Salad and Calamari. Everything was so, so good. The Kaboom Shrimp is one of their most popular dishes and one that I'd recommend. It was large enough to share and we still had some left. On another occasion we took the entire family and dined outside one evening on the patio. It's not much of a view since the patio is so close to the street but the atmosphere with the lights on the building and the warm breeze created a beautiful vibe. First time eating here. Located in little shopping center off Sunset Strip with tons of restaurants etc that I had no idea were here. Indoor & outdoor seating available, with most people sitting outside due to the gorgeous weather. We ordered ceviche but they were out, but got fish dip instead which was pretty good. A lot of unnecessary stuff like tomatoes, jalapeños, raw onions on the side which we left (I hate wasting food). We each got the "famous fish sandwich", the cod on hoagie. Worst experience ever!!! Couldn't go any worse. We were the only table in the restaurant. We were 5 people celebrating my husband's birthday, and here is the list of all that went wrong: 1) After 10/15 minutes that our order was taken we were told that one of our main dishes couldn't be serve due to inventory issues (my husband's - the birthday guy), so he changed it 2) They took forever to deliver our food 3) A soup was served almost cold 4) One plate was served incomplete (just included one side instead of two as in the menu) 5, 6) The shrimps were warm in two cocktails 7) My husband's - yes, the birthday guy - finally received his plate and oh no! wasn't what he ordered!!! 8) To end the celebration on the right note, the bill was wrong!!! They charged one of the plates. Yes, they incomplete one more expensive as in the menu!!! 9) They did adjust the price of that plate to normal price as in the menu, BUT remember the plate was served incomplete. You could imagine that after all, they would offer a free drink or so or a discount or courtesy cake slice as they knew it was my husband's birthday. Guess was??? They didn't. Worst experience ever!!! And remember the place was empty, we were the only table in the place, now I wonder why... Soooooo....we love this little quaint spot! My husband likes to think of himself as a snapper connoisseur and he enjoyed his snapper so much I think he'll be right back here tomorrow. I had the shrimp platter and it was labeled as jumbo, but they were more like medium sized. Good flavor, but kind of small. The drinks did what they were supposed to do and the service was phenomenal! We will be back if we're in the neighborhood. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was great, so we will definitely come back again. We sat at the bar and there were a few other people sitting there too but not many other people dining in the restaurant. There is outside seating but it is way too hot right now to sit outside. We started with bar drinks which I thought the call brands were a little pricy but the pour was decent. After looking at the menu, the grouper seemed to be a good choice as I don't see it very often on the menu at a restaurant that is not "on the water". We both ordered it grilled, mine with a Caesar Salad and my husband went with the sautéed vegetables and house slaw. All the sides were fresh made and delicious. The veggies consisted of green beans, carrots, potatoes, & squash). I also ordered some of the Mediterranean sauce that comes with the whole fried fish. Waitress was nice and very attentive about telling us that it would be a while because they had the prep the kitchen. Great atmosphere and service. The menu has a lot of great variations for everyone. It was hard to choose for lunch. I decided to order the shrimp tacos with side of season fries and cole slaw. Their cole slaw isn't the traditional slaw, but it was unique and different also very good. Shrimp tacos had great combination of flavors. French fries had nice seasoning and nice crisp! Also, my table had the fried fish platter. nicely battered and very crisp and fresh. Highly recommend the fish platter. I will definitely order that next time. Since we had to wait a while, they provided us with a complimentary slice of carrot cake for our table. It was very delicious and thoughtful! We came here for lunch on a Tuesday around 1pm. We were seated immediately and our server Meg was absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed her recommendations and conversation . We loved the Grilled Snapper and the Kids portion of the Fish and Chips was more than adequate to fill my little ones up (4-5oz of fish). We also tried the hush puppies which were amazing. We also tried the Lobster Bisque which was delicious! As well as some fish appetizer plate! This place has been on my list and I finally made it! The food was on point - I had a cup of gumbo that was very satisfying. My friend had a cup of shrimp and corn chowder which was equally good. Both soups were on the specials board. We opted to share a meal as we wanted desert. Our server had several recommendations but in the end we went with the fried fish and shrimp platter. This was a lot of food even for the two of us to share - 5 jumbo shrimp, 3 pieces of battered and fried cod, french fries, cole slaw with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and ketchup on the side. Not sure what the slaw was dressed with but it was delicious and tangy! We ordered margaritas and they were delicious - just the right amount of salt on the rim. We decided to share a tiramisu - we were served a huge portion that we couldn't finish. Possibly the lightest tiramisu I've ever had - my only complaint is that it felt light on the coffee. The restaurant is smaller than I imagined however, the patio is pleasant. I was concerned that I wouldn't get good service due to the holiday and the lateness of my call, my concern was unfounded. The order process was smooth and the kitchen was very flexible regarding substitutions and even provided me with a custom selection which was not on the menu.
