My 1st going to this restaurant. Very unique place to eat Went for lunch with my sister and niece. The place is very unique and the food is good an cool to watch it being prepared, however they don't have any good options for kids. So we ended up paying for an adult meal for a 2 year olds. This would be a 1 star if the food weren't so good (I mean, it's my creation so of course the food is good!). Everything else is very grim. The prices are high, especially for this area. Really, 2 tiny salad shrimp doesn't justify the cost...and this comes from an ex-Flat Top employee. The staff- wow. I think they would hire just about anyone, and seeing as it can't get much worse...apply, people! I run a hospital kitchen so I know about standards when it comes to the Food Code. Touching food with fingers, especially unwashed, is absolutely inexcusable. And drinking in a prep area with an uncovered container? Ew. I guess what's most surprising is that there was about as many people working as dining and it was still slow and molasses. I think the cherry on top was the employees friends loitering around the restaurant and going out back to smoke, leaving the back door wide open in JANUARY in MICHIGAN. The smell of smoke was also quite off-putting and I know it wasn't just me that smelled it -- the table 2 inches next to ours smelled it, too. I got brave to dine last night at 8pm after being turned away at 8pm on NEW YEARS EVE. I mean, do they want to be in the business of not making money? Sadly, this place won't survive without some serious intervention from owners and a huge upgrade in staff. I truly want to see this place succeed, so this review is meant to be helpful, not hurtful. I took 2 different friends here for lunch in the past week. Both have been to Mong. BBQs & both thought - as I do, that the food is very fresh, the choices plenty and the all flavorful (excellent sauces). Seating tight - you'd think you're in an NY deli! Excellent food! Many choices of veggies to throw in and a nearly obscene amount of sauces to choose from (and they're all made IN HOUSE)! It was nice that they let you taste test the sauces. We have been to eat here many times. My wife and I came here tonight to celebrate our anniversary. When our cooked food arrived the waitress informed us that there was no more white rice and only a little bit of brown rice. We split what was left even though it was not enough. The poor lady behind us didn't get any rice. Also, our flatbread was burnt so we sent them back. The new ones came back totally undercooked. The restaurant was messy and there was a patron taking photos of all the spilled food that had not been cleaned up. Extremely disappointing experience. read more

We called 5 minutes before we went in to see if they had gluten free options (my daughter is very allergic to wheat) they assured me they have "tons" of gluten free options and even explained they make gluten free in a clean separate wok. Great news! Well... we got there 5 minutes later at 5:30pm and they had 1 single gluten free choice and it was very gross and my daughter was so sad bc they already made the whole bowl and then told her the only option was a one sauce and had no gluten free soy sauce for flavor either. We got the bowl and of course she didn't like it. We asked if it could be taken off of the bill since she clearly did not eat. They wouldn't take it off the bill and said they would charge her for a kids price instead ($8). I told them if someone calls again asking don't say they have "tons" of options when there was only 1. And she said we came late to dinner and they sold out of the rest bc it was so late... 5:30pm. They clearly didn't run out of all other gluten free sauces in the 5 minutes it takes to get there. Delicious food. Kind of pricey for the area, but I usually make two meals off of my one trip. Great selection of veggies and sauces and there are always vegetarian options for the protein. They are attentive to allergy issues and vegetarian requests while cooking. We go regularly and have good service. They do have kids mac & cheese (not on the menu) for children like mine that won't eat Asian food. read more

For those of us that are locals, this is a welcome change of pace from the normal fare available in town. Excellent choice of sauces that appeal to my wussy taste buds all the way to my friend who would request 6 star spicy if the choices were 1-5. Good choice of proteins and veggies. You MUST get the bread. I've had good experience with the serving staff. I've hauled lots of people in that are... let's say, "traditional" diners and the staff has been patient and helpful in assisting them to find a tasty combination of sauces and veggies. Other reviewers are correct in saying it's tight quarters so if you can hit it up in off-hours, you'll probably be more comfortable. read more

Love this place! There are lots of great options for creating your own stir fry, and they even have vegetarian "meat" options and tofu. It's hard to find a good restaurant that serves vegetarian dishes in this area, but Tim's Too has it covered. Also, the flat bread is phenomenal. I usually go during off peak hours to avoid a line. It does tend to get busy during lunch and traditional dinner hours. read more

You're not fooling anyone; those are sauce cups not meat cups. First, the staff is extremely unprofessional. Usually when the staff doesn't speak to you at a Chinese restaurant it's because they don't speak English. The staff at this restaurant (all American) just straight up ignore you. When they do talk, it's too yell loudly at each other or the guests. We had to ask for waters, silver wear, and rice and when we did, the waitress acted like we were the biggest inconvenience. When someone in our group spilt a drink I went to the counter to grab napkins (because our table was never given any) and she just looked at me, walked away into the kitchen, grabbed towels and stormed to our table. She refused to acknowledge that I had even said anything to her and left me standing at the counter. The only time a staff member acknowledged our group was when it was time to pay. He had no problem coming to our table to cheerfully cash us out (The same guy who was yelling at everyone). The food was almost as bad as the staff. Our group was told to keep the meat and veggies separate. They never specified which bowls to use for the meat. Turns out the tiny bowls that don't even look large enough to put sauce in were for the meat. The guy at the grill took no time to yell at me about the miscommunication and made me feel very uncomfortable. The bowl was hardly filled up and he made a huge deal about it. Asked for shrimp and scallops in mine, there was two of each. They also took no time to yell at two of my friends and even attempted to snatch the bowl from my other friend. If the burnt meat doesn't make you lose your appetite, watching the overweight man sweat all over your food will. The restaurant itself is a dump. It's dirty and unorganized. The kitchen looks disgusting. The food is scattered everywhere and I would not be surprised if I woke up sick tomorrow. This place takes the prize of the worst place I have ever visited. The whole experience was tip toeing around the staff not to get yelled at and to get out as quick as possible. Negative 100 stars would be too generous for this dump. read more

Well. That was horrifying. My boyfriend and I walked in, somewhat craving Asian cuisine. After the server, complete with monotones voice and unenthusiastic that more guests were coming to dine, explained everything quickly to the both of us. We walked up to the self-serve buffet-like line up and honestly, ended up just staring at the ingredients in awe. The raw chicken and beef and god knows what else was all piled together in a corner in separate but back to back baskets (yes they were all touching - hello health code). The sauce station was almost empty with half of te sauces on the counter. My boyfriend and I are culinarians and in the business. I am serve safe certified and this was a nightmare. It was good poisoning city. We walked right out with nauteous stomachs. Do not go here. It should get shut down! read more

I took my family for lunch today to Tim's Too. The service is pretty much non-existent, but maybe that's to be expected at a Mongolian Barbecue. There were seven of us and the bill came to about $100 with tip. The food was good (not great) and the service was passable (at best). All the different mixtures ended up tasting similar to one another. My 90 year old grandmother literally ate one small scoop of noodles with pesto sauce and nothing else. Didn't even heat it up. And I was charged $12 for it. When I asked the waitress for some relief she said she 'really couldn't do it', but reduced the charge to a child's plate at $7. That was really unacceptable. To charge $7 for a bite of food, when you're spending $100 is ridiculous. Atmosphere is different for Saint Joe, the food is average, and the service is sub-par. And at $12 a plate for serve yourself lunch the price is a bit high for SW Michigan. read more

Extremely disappointed. We went up to build our stir fry order and the serving area with food was a complete mess and disgusting. Looks as though no one cleaned the entire day. It was near closing time, but the food counter was a complete disaster. Food types were intermingled with one another. It looked as though a tornado ripped through the restaurant. It was a holiday, but this poor presentation was no excuse. I literally felt sick. We had to tell the server we needed to leave. The price was high at more than $15 a person as well. We went last night Saturday 1/23 at 8pm, walked in and immediately noticed the dirty, gross countertops. There was only one table in the restaurant occupied but she sat us right next to them and had to wipe the table off. Usually we enjoy the food so we gave it a chance. But when looking at the bar it was filthy with sauce spilled everywhere. Several containers were empty, the snow pea pods had a black moldy one on the top, and it absolutely was not appetizing whatsoever. The two people on duty stood and looked at their phones the entire time. Then, when the person in charge of cooking the food showed, she stood and looked at her phone most of the time as well. Wow. I am continually astounded at how "popular" this place is. I have a friend who says it's her favorite restaurant in this whole are and I cannot understand why. It attempts to be one of the popular Asian fusion pick your own items and have it stir fried in front of you places that are really fun and terrific tasting but this one misses the mark.. big time! I hadn't gone in two years because I don't like it, but a friend asked me to go for her birthday. I had second thoughts about even eating the food after going down the line and seeing the food that I was adding to my bowl. Veggies were brown and wilted and the place is genuinely dirty! Employees look sloppy and dirty and it doesn't give me confidence that I will escape without some sort of food borne illness. I ate the food, it tasted OKAY. That's it. Nothing special and again I was grossed out the whole time. Service was fine but we were there at 11:30 so not busy. This place COULD Abe so great. read more

As the other reviewers have pointed out the food is excellent here. I would give this 5 stars except for the fact that the tables are sooo close together that it really is hard to manuever in the restaurant. There is a good selection of appetizers, beer, and wine. The potstickers are especially tasty. Lunch, including beverage and an appetizer runs about $15 per person. For dinner count on it running about $25 per person. After dining here we always enjoy taking a walk over to the bluff and just sitting and relaxing looking at the beach and lake. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

My husband and I love to eat at Tim's Too. The food is delicious. The pita bread is a must. Choose your rice, veggies, noodles, meat, etc. and watch it cook for you or wait for it to be brought to your table. My husband and I used to live closer to Mishawaka and would always take trips to Flat Top Grill. When we relocated, this became a home away from home for us with the build-your-own-stir-fry. However, there is a downside:the service sucked. Our waitress did not greet us properly, made poor eye contact, and didn't really bother introduce herself properly. She was also texting behind the counter. I was not pleased with my service experience, but it was not enough to turn me off from the great food. read more
