I saw Dr McLaughlin in May 2026 because my right ear was feeling plugged and I could hear my own breathing. My first visit was 10 minutes. He looked in my ear and throat and saw post nasal drip. He prescribed an antihistamine and said that might fix it. Then he scheduled a hearing test. The antihistamine didn't help and I came in for a hearing test. When I saw Dr McLaughlin again, the first thing he said was 'you need a hearing aid'. I said 'OK, I'll look into that but what about my clogged ear'. He looked at the hearing results and in my ears for 5 seconds and told me 'your ears are fine'. And then stood up as if that was the end of the consultation. I felt that It was a waste of my time, that he had no inclination to try to solve my hearing issue. I positively would not recommend Dr McLaughlin BTW. I had my PCP refer me to another ENT. They looked at my hearing test results, asked me a lot of questions (did I swim underwater a lot. does the clogged feeling go away if I bend down or lay down. Have I lost a lot of weight recently), examined me more thoroughly and offered a possibility that I had Patulous Eustachian Tube. That's what it turned out to be. read more

Dismissive doctor. Misdiagnosis. Left office in tears. After a second opinion, I could have saved my hearing by acting quickly if I'd been given the correct treatment. The audiograms here are also not done in a separate booth, which is bizarre, not up to standard and further confused my treatment and results. Would not recommend to anyone as a young person who now has what is most likely permanent loss. Added a star for the nice ladies at the front. read more

The doctor is awesome but one of his staff members is rude and unfriendly. As if she's not happy with her job. She's the opposite of "Donna" and I would like to give a shout to her-She's super nice and has a great personality. Please definitely keep her around. But I wouldn't recommend him to anyone, not even to my family or friends because of his assistant who is so rude and impatient. Hey! I care about my money's worth, "I paid $364" with my deductible annual insurance. His assistant, who is unprofessional with bad attitude really affects the experience for everyone in his office. read more

I've seen Dr. McLaughlin a couple of times and was quite wary based on some of these reviews. To be honest, it went perfectly fine. He addressed the immediate issue, counseled me on what I need to stop doing (I still stick Q-tips in my ear anyway), and made some recommendations. I arrived 30 mins early for my second visit and he promptly saw me, then his staff helped me figure out how Kuakini's new parking system works. read more

Discussed a possible sinus surgery on May 15, 2025 and after considering the pre and post side effects and my age, canceled the June 27, 2025 surgery date on the very next day, May 16, 2025. Was told I had to pay a $250 penalty. Doesn't the patient have the right to refuse surgery, especially when the notice was given within 24 hours after the initial discussion with the doctor? read more

100% do not recommend. My child was scheduled for a surgery with him. Last minute, his office asked us to reschedule the procedure. We rescheduled and I took off from work for it, only to get a call from his office the day of the surgery that we needed to reschedule again. We never went back to his office after that & took my child to see another ENT. Come to find out, she never needed the surgery in the first place. read more

Worst Doctor experience that I have ever had. Dr. Mclaughlin was a referral, and when I showed up for a overdue post op procedure, he told me to come back in two weeks and had not looked at the records that were sent to him. After I had explained to him that I had the understanding that the procedure was scheduled for that day, he insisted that I needed to come back for more visits, and said that "if I didn't like it, then there's the door." Never met a more incompetent and unprofessional doctor. I usually do not leave negative reviews, but I felt I had to share my experience so others don't waste their time and money with this doctor. Would definitely not recommend. read more

Mixed review because Dr. McLaughlin is GREAT, but his staff, not so much. Seeing the reviews, I bet most of the negative experiences are due to his staff and their ineptness. Not all of them are bad, but enough to make it seem that way. But again, I liked Dr. McLaughlin's manner, thorough explanations, and professionalism. Hope he can weed out the losers. read more

Read the bad reviews but decided to remain neutral and see for myself. As others have reported, they cancelled on me just 20 minutes before my appt as I was on my way there! Rearranged my schedule to make time for this so learned my lesson. I will not be rescheduling with someone so unreliable and am now looking for another ENT doc. Save yourself some trouble and headache! read more

Extremely competent, caring surgeon. Went out of his way to get the necessary expensive cancer medicine insurance wouldn't cover. I praise the Lord for bringing Dr McLaughlin. read more

The worst doctor I've been too. Do NOT go to him for your ENT needs. He's only there for the money and will try to get you to pay him as much as possible. Do not sign any of his paperwork as he'll add additional information after you sign. He will try to fast track surgeries by scaring you into completing one, even though they're not necessary or at least double checking if they're needed. When you ask him specifics or different outcomes of the surgery he is extremely dismissive. Says, "I'll explain more later if it's needed." Who doesn't explain to patients possible outcomes to a surgery he's providing? I signed paperwork for a surgery with him only after being told that my ear infection could cause me to have a stroke. Went to another ENT the next day for a second opinion and totally had as an opposite experience. No chance of stroke and my ears were clearing up. No ear surgery necessary. I of course canceled the surgery with Timothy. Got a bill for $465 after insurance. I only saw him twice and had a hearing test done with his office. $250 for the canceled surgery a day after I scheduled it, and the rest was for low quality care. I can't stress it more- do not go to this doctor. read more

Unbelievably bad experience. Dr. McLaughlin performed a major surgery with questionable justification that ended up with me losing about 25% of hearing on ear operated on. He rescheduled my post-surgery follow-ups three times, two with less than an hour's notice, because of "emergency surgery". Faced with pain and concern over loss of hearing, I asked for a referral to someone who could see me. The next morning, he left an angry message on my home answering machine saying he "doesn't do referrals.". At my appointment the next day, he threw a temper tantrum and verbally assaulted and berated me . He gave me a letter terminating his role as my doctor and refused to provide any additional treatment. He further lashed out by refusing to provide my patient records for 7 weeks to both my primary care physician and the ENT with whom I tried to schedule a follow up appointment even though they asked for the records multiple times. This prevented me from getting follow-up coverage for 10 weeks after the surgery. read more

Only got my bill NOW from 2012. I can't even remember if I paid it or not. I called the office and they told me they sent it out back in 2012 which I never got (of course I would have paid it)!!!! It's been so long. He had a lot of bad reviews and I remember not feeling comfortable with him. His billing is a lot more than my other specialist too! Double the amount!!! Would not recommend! He also said I came into the office 3x! I saw him 1x and didn't like him. Now he's trying to collect on 3 visits. I'm disgusted! read more

Has been taking care of my dad since 2013. Outstanding doctor. My dad feels very comfortable with him & he is receiving the best care.

I have been going to Dr. McLaughlin for about 13 years. He has helped me with my sinuses, ear infections, and tonsils. He has been so great with me, that I trusted him with my husband and children. (And he has done surgery on them.) The office staff at his practice is wonderful. Always accommodating and friendly. I even referred a fellow Yelper to him & she has had great results! If I have to be sick, I'm glad he's the one helping me! read more

Never met the doctor but I gave him one star because of my experience. I made an appointment and as I was arriving at the office I checked my phone. They had called to cancel because doctor was called into emergency surgery. Second appointment was scheduled for another two weeks out. Dropped my daughter off at work and was pulling out of the parking lot when the doctor's office called to cancel again for the same reason as the first time. I took two different days off from work (leave without pay) to see this doctor. If he is an on-call doctor he should have a backup doctor to fill in. Very unprofessional. read more

This "doctor" Timothy J Mclaughlin is the WORST that I have encountered in my 40yrs! I saw him and he prescribed a nasal spray and scheduled a followup. Then he cancelled the follow up and rescheduled. I had to inform my employer that the appointed was canceled which caused my boss to place me back on schedule Thank fully. Then AGAIN this "doctor" Mclaughlin cancelled my rescheduled appointment with an excuse that he had an emergency surgery (an entire week later ?!). This created a problem with my job after having to have to find a replacement for me on that day then to find out the replacement is not needed. So I told Mclaughlin's office that I don't think I want come back after cancelling my appointment, not once but twice! So I called this "doctor" and left a message that the prescription is no longer working. Then it took him all the way to the following week for him to respond via his receptionist that gave a message of another prescription which was NEVER called in! read more

Poor bedside manner. Lightning fast analysis. Dismissive. BEWARE!

We took my elderly mother for an appointment with Dr. McLaughlin to remove some ear wax. He did not take into consideration her age or frailty. He ended up tearing her ear canal. She screamed in pain and her ear started bleeding. He was callous, dismissive with hurried verbal instructions. She left in worse condition than when she arrived. I would NEVER recommend him. read more

I am so glad I got a second opinion, because had I not done this I honestly believe I'd be a partially deaf person today. I do not have the condition under which this doctor diagnosed. Just am so glad for the doctor who validated my concerns, treated me for the situation I was facing at that time. Please be ware and always get that second opinion before making a major life-changing decision. read more
