James Lee, MD - This is the earwax my wife took out after these "ENTs" refused to clean because they saw no wax.

They looked in my ear for a few seconds, said you have nothing to take out, ordered a hearing test. I knew they were wrong but they are proud yet inept. I pushed back to James Lee saying I feel earwax in there when I push on my side and I can't hear. He said verbatim "why would I lie to you?". I didn't have an answer because I didn't think he was lying. I just thought he missed it. And he did. Big time. There is an ENT shortage on the island, but that's not an excuse to be dismissive and too proud to listen and check again. This "doctor" is really really bad and also really rude. Only go here as a last resort.

But no, this dude is a literal f****** asshole. He hovers by the door and you can tell he just wants to get out as soon as possible. FIRST VISIT: He seems to enjoy you being in pain. I just wanted to know if it was safe to use vaseline or another special ointment in my nose for a cut but he was like "i need to cauterize it". I was like that bad? Only for me to find out AFTER it was just large blood vessels he was not a fan of. The cauterization of the nose process was so painful but he just kept going and did not even warn me that it was going to be so painful. He didnt even tell me how to take care of it after! Guess why? Guy was standing by the door telling me to get out ASAP. He didnt even look at where the cut was or address it. SECOND VISIT: I went in for my throat but he takes out the equipment to check my ears and nose just to include it in my bill?? My dentist said he felt a hard lump in my throat and to get it checked out. I tell him this and he just looks inside and shrugs his shoulders saying he doesnt see anything. I HAD TO TELL HIM TO FEEL FOR IT. Only then is he like oh maybe get a CT scan. Like hello? You tell me, am i the doctor here? So dismissive and so unprofessional. I ain't paying a dime to this loser.

Well after about a couple of days, I tried to use one of those over the counter medications, but it didn't help like it used to in the past. I guess the problem was a little bit bigger than I had thought. So I decided one morning to make an appointment with an ENT doctor. My first inclination was to look up doctors in the area that had good ratings. After settling on a Dr. at Queens, I decided to call. But I was informed that the earliest appointment I could make was two weeks away. Who wants to hear out of only one ear for two weeks? I then called for doctors at Straub and the same thing happened. But I was told that Dr. Kaku could fit me into his schedule in about an hour. I was kinda hesitant because I found out that he was in his seventies and there were no reviews on him. But wanting to hear won me over. So I decided to take a chance. Boy was I wrong. Dr. Kaku was great. He had a great bedside manner and he took his time in removing wax from both ear canals. I was told that I had really small ear canals so that kinda made it a hassle, but he used every method to remove all the wax. It was like night and day when he finished. If you see this review and are looking for a ENT doctor, please don't hesitate on going to see him. He was very professional and attentive. Plus I got an appointment right away!

He looked in my ear and throat and saw post nasal drip. He prescribed an antihistamine and said that might fix it. Then he scheduled a hearing test. The antihistamine didn't help and I came in for a hearing test. When I saw Dr McLaughlin again, the first thing he said was 'you need a hearing aid'. I said 'OK, I'll look into that but what about my clogged ear'. He looked at the hearing results and in my ears for 5 seconds and told me 'your ears are fine'. And then stood up as if that was the end of the consultation. I felt that It was a waste of my time, that he had no inclination to try to solve my hearing issue. I positively would not recommend Dr McLaughlin BTW. I had my PCP refer me to another ENT. They looked at my hearing test results, asked me a lot of questions (did I swim underwater a lot. does the clogged feeling go away if I bend down or lay down. Have I lost a lot of weight recently), examined me more thoroughly and offered a possibility that I had Patulous Eustachian Tube. That's what it turned out to be.
