I visited this Time 2 Grub a couple weeks back and truly enjoyed the food. I ordered the ox tails on this day, at the time the order I placed was the last of the ox tails, but they were good. The succotash was some the best I have ever eaten. Service was on point, it took about 20 minutes to get the order but the food was worth the wait. I will be going back in the future. This place has terrible service. They were out of greens and yams. We ordered and was told it would take 30 minutes. Huh? The lady in front of me had already been waiting an hour. When her food came, she was told they ran out of peach cobbler, mind you, we ordered peach cobbler as well. After standing around waiting 1 1/2 hours, we get our food and it's cold. What the heck were they doing all that time with our food?! They gave us 1 peach cobbler and told us we needed to wait a little longer for the other peach cobbler. Huh? What kind of peach cobbler are y'all making and how are y'all cooking all that food in that small area? We gave them all the food back and left without a refund. We didn't care at that point. This is the first time I ordered food from here and it was amazing! The owner was so nice and helpful, it was a great first time experience and I will definitely order from here again! Had the smothered ribs and it was moist tasty and tender perfect with the rice and gravy it came with the greens are really good too the beans are ok. We also ordered the jambalaya and my brother liked it said it tasted fresh. He had it with candied yams also nice and sweet i liked it, mac and cheese are ok. We only waited maybe 10-15 mins for the food i dont think it took so long. Food came out hot and fresh. The sweet tea served in cute mason jar cup. I did not know if were supposed to get cornbread with the meal or not but dont matter the food is enough we finished both our plates! Overall very good home cooked food. My husband and I have tried several items on the menu. We usually get enough food for 2 meals. My favorite was the black eye peas. But since it was not high in demand it was removed from the menu. My new favorite is the smothered pork chops. read more

I used to really enjoy their food. A couple of times I got home and I was supposed to have Mac and cheese yams and green beans, I get home it is 2 green beans and yams no mac and cheese. Another time no mac and cheese but they put beans instead. I tried again today at Time 2 Grub but the fish was cooked too hard and the yams were so hard I couldn't eat them. They were like leather. When I first started going and I thought the food was really delicious but I have not been satisfied lately. I don't know if they changed cooks or have gotten comfortable with their business that they don't put effort into satisfying their customers. I try to support local businesses but when I have had several bad experiences then I am done. I liked their food better than this other place I was going to in Lancaster when I started going but lately I have not been satisfied with the last 4 times I have gone. Very unhappy I left work in Palmdale and I live in Palmdale to make a trip for a delicious dinner and I get home can't eat the yams because they are so tough I can't bite in them and the fish is fried too hard. I paid a little under $80 and it was to be delivered to my home .. the lady who picked up the order and was to deliver called and said they baked beans won't be ready until 30 to 40 minutes would I like to wait I said no , mind you ordered my food 40 min prior to her call ... then she say they don't have yams so now I'm getting irritated so I substitute the yams for red beans and rice .. then she said oh and they don't have any sweet potato pie do you want cake I'm like hell no I want what I ordered an hour ago so I said no what about banana pudding and they had that .. I'm lightweight irritated because they been in businesses for over two years and still can't get it right oh yeah I ordered sweet tea and got red kool side instead I guess they said we not telling her we don't have sweet tea either .. I've been anticipating my visit to time 2 grub. As my family and I entered Sol Plaza, walking past the typical stores. We approached the food court we were greeted by a beautiful sister. She offered menus and we ordered oxtails, and turkey wings both with mac & cheese and greens. We took it to go raced back to Palmdale and Lawd have mercy it was like being back in LA. My sister brought home a menu from this place and after reading on it what was offered, I was sold. There are essentially no soul food spots here in the AV so I was so excited to try it. My husband and I ordered BBQ Chicken, yams, Mac n Cheese, Potato Salad, and Banana Pudding with a Koolaid on the side. When we went to pick up there was a misunderstanding on the part of the restaurant that my order had not been received but that was immediately resolved when shortly after the misunderstanding, they confirmed with me they did in fact receive it. Customer service was good and friendly. As for the food, I'll start off on a high note: Portions are pretty good for the money you're paying. The Koolaid was perfectly mixed with the perfect amount of sugar, the Banana Pudding had a Cheesecakey tang to it which I was a big fan of (I would avoid if you don't like cream cheese), Candied Yams tasted as rich and syrupy as my mama's, and Mac n Cheese was creamy and full of flavor. As for the Potato Salad, it was alright. The main dish, the BBQ Chicken, was unfortunately really disappointing. It smelled and tasted extremely fishy as if they'd used the same utensils to handle/prepare the chicken as they did the seafood. It was really unappetizing and my husband HATED it; he would literally gag every time I'd move a piece because it was hot/fresh so the smell would waft right under his nose. June 7, 2020. This experience was very unenjoyable. We ordered the oxtails and collard greens. They both were so salty, we had to throw them in the garbage. The macaroni and cheese had very little cheese. Mostly just noodles. It was a $50 wasted. We had to go out and get a hamburger instead. Hopefully they can do better soon. read more

I sent my hubby one day and when he brought the food back, the corn bread was in a ziplock bag that had a hole in it ( clearly they had to warm up my food) and on top of that it was hard as a rock. I had been craving some good soul food for over a month. Did my research and found this place. I heard a lot of great things so I was very excited. I had the fried chicken , greens and Mac and cheese. I have to say this place did not disappoint me at all. Chicken was fresh crispy full of flavor not dry at all ! I could tell it was made to order everything was! Mac and cheese had lots of flavor very cheesy pasta was not over cooked at all ! Now for the greens that's the only down side I want to start with they where still very good but very salty I still ate them ! But definitely very high on the salt. My family and I decided to try them out two weeks ago in support of local black businesses. I ordered 6 plates through door dash. I was contacted an hour after my order to inform me that they were out of an item. I requested a substitution and carried on. my food arrived about 45 minutes later and I found as I was passing out food that we were missing a plate. I called in and they were closed for the day. I decided to email the owner who apologized and explained to me that she would rectify the situation. I attempted to order two more times with no luck as they were closed. i made one last attempt and emailed the owner on a tuesday for pick up on wednesday. when i arrived on Wednesday I was greeted with we are closed and I have no door dash or grub hub orders. I explained who I was, and she proceeded to tell me that they did not have what I ordered because her staff called off on her. She was not very friendly and I was still willing to stay. Then she explained that she was not the chef and that the meat would take 20 minutes, and she did not have the sides that i originally requested. She requested that I accept what she had, and I told her I would love to try what I originally ordered. I was told that if I wanted to get what I ordered I had to return tomorrow. Mind you we are almost 2 weeks into an order replacement. I was perfectly fine with it as she was attempting to fix a problem. Under normal circumstances, I would just chalk it up to a bad experience, but I paid for food that I never received. I then emailed to just request a refund and was told that a refund would be provided, but I am still waiting for that. The food I had was decent, but I will not return. I will also tell everyone I know to not make a visit as well. It is not about messing things up, it is about how you fix it, and unfortunately the owner seemed bothered by my request. read more

Tried for the first time today. Not impressed. Got fried chicken and waffles with Mac n cheese and greens. The sides were not seasoned well. The chicken wasn't really cooked all the way. The waffles were ok but I've had better. Also got some peach cobbler. Way too much seasoning and the dough didn't look cooked either. They also serve it cold which I do not prefer. 1st time there & it was LOWSEY FOOD - spoiled & sour & old not fresh. I found the restaurant online. I ordered oxtails, ribs, chicken, shrimp, Mac & cheese, yams, greens, cornbread & potatoes salad. I ordered the food not concerned about the price I told them the exact time I would be there so my food wouldn't be sitting long & get cold. I arrived on time and had to still wait an additional 15 mins. I was quoted $77 something and I got rung up and it turned into $80 something with no explanation why of the difference. I asked them if cornbread came with every meal and was advised no. I thought maybe they would offer to throw in the cornbread for the error but no. I checked the food it appeared to be right. I get home I didn't get the cornbread I ordered. I called to let them know I didn't get my receipt the girl CK was rude with no customer service skills. I asked her for a copy of the receipt her response is I don't know how to do it. So I said hand write it, take a picture and text it to me. I finally try to sit down to eat & EVERYTHING IS COLD EVERYTHING. Nothing was hot. Even after I saw them warm everything up in the microwave. That should of been a sign for me to walk away then. Whent to Time2Grud over a month ago. I got the B-B-Q Ribs/W mac and cheese,and yams. My daughter ordered the fish with mac and cheese and yams to go. when we got home my daughter said something doesn't smell right.She told me not to eat it and she threw her food away. I was like we just spent over $40.00 for this food and i'm going to eat it. Well i ate the food and got food poisoning. shortly after i started throwing up and couldn't stay off the toilette. Had to be rushed to the hospital and my stomach hasn't been right every since. the corn bread was as hard as a rock, the yams were so nasty and the food did taste a little old. I went this past Friday, April 19, 2019. I ordered the chicken and waffles with greens and chitterlings. The waffles were superb, they were thick, sweet and just down right tasty. The chicken, however was fried too hard, almost burnt. The other dinner I ordered was the crab boil. The aroma was so awesome. It was as if you were about to get into some buttery garlic goodness, but aw man nope. It was so bitter, it tasted as if I was sucking on a pure aloe vera plant, and if any of you have eaten aloe vera, it is so bitter, it's like eating poison. The other plate I bought was the smothered ribs, now that was the only thing on the plate that was very tasty. The ribs were really good and the rice and gravy. However, the yams were not great. It seems they were cooked for a senior citizens home. They were bland. The green beans were extremely salty and the corn muffins were dry and very dense. You could tell it was too much flour. It had no flavor. The banana pudding was filled with more wafers than the pudding. There was no balance. I actually hate writing a review like this because I want to always support my people, but I AM MAD BECAUSE THAT $84 could have gone towards my DMV renewal. I cant get a refund and I do not want a certificate or discount. Free is what I would have to be compensated because that money I spent and only enjoyed one half of two dinners out of three with extra sides. I am broke forever for this place. I came. I tried.
