Swindlers! Do not eat here! The one star and not recommended reviews are right!…read moreNow granted, I am hormonal and 6mo pregnant so I make an effort to go with grace into potentially upsetting situations and at the end of the day grubhub refunded us and bad experiences just happen from time to time. But hell all the damn way to the MF nah, can I not warn people away from this place...they double charged us $140 for an incomplete and inedible order that took almost two hours to get. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE EAT HERE, YOU ARE BETTER OFF AT A GAS STATION. Save your money. Options to consider instead: -A Costco hot dog ($1.50 w/ a drink vs $71 no drink) -Develop the ability to photosynthesize. -A well preserved cigarette on the sidewalk. -Gift a meal from this place to an enemy. I know the wait I'm in for with soulfood and I don't mind paying what's asked. I could go in about how I placed my order at 4:45 and did not walk out with my food until 6:30 because there was only one cook with mask hanging down, or how my order was still so incomplete that I was chased down to be handed lukewarm green beans and when I got home not one order had cornbread, or how the jambalaya was just tomato marinara weirdness and everything was blander than that Taylor Swift cover of Earth Wind & Fire, or how I saw store bought pies in their tins thrown on the stove. But what really matters is that I feel the need to at least got to the BBB site because this establishment is either disorganized to the point of reckless billing or just straight up thieving money. They should be ashamed to represent our community in ANY professional capacity. I selected the option to pay in cash through the app, but I didn't know it charged our cc from the grubhub account immediately. So when I arrived, I went to pay and the man pulled up my order and read it off exactly. Had to change the order because they were out of what I selected in app, so with the total change, I pay $70+ with a $100 and he's short change and promises to give me my $4 later. Wasn't a problem...until it was 6:00 and I still have no food or change and the man asks ME what one of the meals I ordered was. Um sir? Is it not on the ticket??? All that was on the 11th. Cut to today, theres a grubhub charge posted as of the 13th. I figured yelp glitched with grubhub somehow, because I selected cash and had to pay when went so I called grubhub. Grubhub refunded me immediately because it turns out even though I selected cash it charged my cc immediately and came through to the restaurant as PAID. This man went through my whole order and everything on a PAID TICKET and let me hand over cash. I even asked grubhub if the order would have come to them paid because of my selecting cash and she said YES, IT STILL WOULD HAVE SHOWN PAID. $140?! And I didn't even get the cornbread?!?! Never in my whole black like have I experienced blasphemy to this extent. What are yall a bank? I was so hot by the time I left I didn't even remember my $4. That's a dollar away from $5! It's a pandemic, people getting thrown to the streets and yall wanna scam people?! The desperation. Don't have a business you can't afford to manage properly, honestly. it was a hard day, my pregnant self was laying concrete and I just wanted to treat my family to some good food. I was so emotional about this at first I didnt want to post in anger. But today having to be refunded after finding out they knew I already paid was it. No one has time for these kind of shenanigans.

WILL NOT EAT HERE AGAIN!…read more SO MANY 1-STARS --- SHOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE EATIN HERE!! Here's a picture of the entire plate. I called them as soon as I got to the car and they offered to give a complementary plate on Tuesday (they are closed on Mondays). NO THANK YOU. I might request my money back from my bank. I will take then back the entire plate on Tuesday. Ordered the fried chicken, green beans and red beans and rice. $13.99. Could not identify the individual chicken pieces, the red/bean and rice was spoiled (could smell it was "sour" when I opened the container), the green beans was soggy. I am a local REALTOR and host meetings - was trying this location to see if they would be a good spot to cater or order to go for our luncheons. NEVER AGAIN!

Mention the name Dylan's and everyone in my family immediately says bring me something back it's not cheap either it can get pricey and make sure family hands you some cash for their food because I'm so not sharing. I'm a longtime customer 20+ years deep ever since they had restaurants in Marina Del Rey and Mr Dylan the dad ran it. I have literally eaten at every location they have and the restaurant on Crenshaw is my favorite. Located on a busy street with limited parking the area is crowded with people. I walk up and immediately start drooling the smell of soul food in the air is very intoxicating. my go to meal is almost always oxtails or fried chicken with a side of dressing greens macaroni and cheese potato salad and candied sweet potatoes. Here's what I ordered. Oxtails Tender and delicious smothered in gravy seasoned to perfection. 10/10 Dressing Thick fluffy and delicious just like my mom made. And drizzled with gravy it's the bomb. I0/10 Macaroni And Cheese It's good but needs a little more seasoning but it's still delicious. 8/10 Greens Tender perfection and seasoned very well. 8/10 Potato Salad Delicious it's a must have part of my meal I love it. 8/10 Candied Yams Tender buttery and sweet. 10/10 Last visit I had Yellow cake and chocolate frosting it's soo yummy. 10/10 I didn't get any this time and regretted it when I got home. lol It's always super crowded at Dylan's so be prepared to wait and believe you me it's definitely worth waiting for. I'm having a nice drive back home to Long Beach until next time. Just me Shawn C.

I wanted some meatloaf, but I can't get past that tomato sauce. I thought I saw some photos with brown gravy, but when I looked at the menu, there is no meatloaf with brown gravy. I went with Smothered Pork Chops, Mac and Cheese, extra 4 oz . gravy. I also ordered cabbage and greens mix, but received greens only. It's on my receipt. Reading is fundamental. So much for customer service. I took off a star for not honoring my request for Greens and Cabbage mix. That wasn't a "Special Request," it's on the menu. The food was edible, that's all I'm going to say about the food. Forgive any typos, typed on a mobile device.

Okay, I want to make it clear that I am not her to frivolously review a neighborhood restaurant…read more Small businesses are the backbone of our country, specially important and black, woman and minority owned. So here's my good and not so good. Good: the service here is amazing, friendly attentive and I watched every dine in customer receive extraordinary care. The portion sizes are huge and the whole restaurant felt like you were in someone's own kitchen on a weekend morning with all of the right smells in the air for a great brunch. Here's the not so good: it took 4 minutes shy of an hour to get lunch for 2 (2 order of chicken tenders, side of red beans and rice and an order of hush puppies ) prepared. Although the booths were full, most of the tables had their food, so it didn't appear to be a lot of tickets stacked up. When my order was finally delivered, and I took the10 minute drive back home, I opened the bag to fund 3 brown paper bags, wet, soggy and soaking in grease. Because the food hadn't been allowed to cool a bit and it was placed in a plastic bag with no way to vent out steam, every item was soggy and falling apart. The fries were wet and soggy, the chicken had all of the dry coat falling off and most the seasoning was pulled off of the batter that was left because of the water and steam. Additionally, the red beans and rice were so wet, they were almost soup. One of the orders had potato salad as a side, but to received overcooked soggy fries instead. The hush puppies were way over cooked, they had passed the golden brown cook level and were a black brown color and were sort of flavorless and really soggy from the heat of the plastic bag. I'm sure that most of this could have been avoided if I hadn't placed a to go order. But I'm leaving this review so that when you order from this little gem, you consider dining in or asking for the foot with plenty of lead time so that they don't rush, improperly pack the food for transit (let it cool off a bit) and have the time to make sure the order is correct, and cooked to a standard that best represents the business. Pomona needs Day-Days as a locally owned, black owned soul food restaurant. Switching from plastic to paper bags and giving the food time to vent will go a long way with quality for the customer. In the end the food tasked good, I'm sure was prepared with love, but fell flat on the delivery. All of that said, patronize this restaurant!!!!

The restaurant is located at the Beverly Center and does not validate parking. The good news is that parking is relatively affordable at $1 per hour. Since I don't eat meat or chicken, I checked the menu online beforehand and found several options that looked appealing. Unfortunately, once we were seated, we were given a completely different menu. When I asked about it, our server, Lindsey, explained that the menu I had seen online isn't available until after 3 p.m. That was disappointing since I had already planned my meal. We started with the biscuits. They had a strong smoky flavor that honestly made me think they were baked with pork fat or in an oven used for barbecue. Lindsey assured me they weren't made with any meat fats, but the smoky flavor was definitely noticeable. I ordered the salmon with microgreens and a side of mac and cheese. My partner ordered the steak and eggs with hash browns, and we both enjoyed the mint mocktails--they were refreshing and one of the highlights of the meal. The salmon was cooked well and I enjoyed it. The mac and cheese, however, was a huge letdown. It arrived in a cute little cast-iron skillet on a butcher block, so the presentation was great, but the taste didn't match the appearance. It reminded me of boxed mac and cheese made with powdered cheese, topped with Parmesan just to create a crust. It was runny, lacked richness, and there wasn't even a hint of that satisfying cheese pull. Unfortunately, there were service issues as well. My partner specifically ordered his eggs over hard, but they weren't prepared that way. His hash browns never arrived at the table, and on the drive home he realized we had been charged for them. He intended to mention it before leaving but simply forgot. The biggest positive is the restaurant itself. It's beautiful, stylish, and has a great ambiance. Beyond that, though, I found the food to be average for the price. Even by Los Angeles standards, $42 for chicken and waffles feels excessive. Overall, Yardbird looks better than it tastes. While there were a few bright spots, the inconsistent service, menu confusion, and underwhelming food don't justify the price. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning.
