Came here for lunch, after previously attempting, and found to be closed as it appeared to be getting remodeled. To my surprise, the place had been spruced up! I came during lunch and the place was packed as there was a couple of large groups dining. I ordered 1/4 white meat fried chicken, with black eyed peas w/rice, along with mashed potatoes with gravy. Unfortunately, they did not have my first choice side (corn with okra). The owner (Mr. Dulan) happened to be sitting at a table nearby and I made him aware that I was disappointed there was no corn with okra, he apologized and stated there would be some next time I come and he would give it to me without charge. I'll see if that's the case next time. The food was delicious as usual, however, the wait time was longer than I expected. The cornbread muffins are super DELISH!!! Will come back for some meatloaf and/or smothered pork chops!!

Corn muffins - 2 with each plate. Yum.

Amy at the register and the waitresses were THE BEST!!! They are a huge part of this review and raring!!! The restaurant is lovely. Extra clean and spacious. The location is nice. I am not sure about parking on a crowded day. We came at the right time: 2PM on a Saturday. Parking right on the side. Two of us ordered chicken (one smothered and one baked) and the other orders the porch chop (he said it was OK) but our chicken was delicious and needed a dash of Louisiana for spice and "pouf" it was gone! We all ordered mac and cheese and mixed greens with cabbage: delicious (one dash of Louisiana and...you know...). They each ordered another plate to go. It was my first time there and I will be back!!! 10s across the board! The service was stellar. Friendly, professional people. The prices were just right for GOOD soul food that is seasoned well and cooked well. Chefs kiss!!!

I hadn't been in this area in quite some time. I was amazed by the quality of the food, the excellent service, quickness of the serving staff, and the overall chill of the ambience. I highly recommend Dulan's. As a fried chicken snob, I endorse theirs 100%. The Mac was Mac'ing. The collard greens were on point, as was the cornbread. I most definitely will be back!

First look. Meatloaf, Steamed Cabbage, Steamed Rice, Cornbread Dressing, and extra gravy.

I gave Dylan's on Crenshaw another shot on May 14, 2026 with an order through DoorDash. I live down the street so the food arrived nice and hot. I wanted some meatloaf, but I can't get past that tomato sauce. I thought I saw some photos with brown gravy, but when I looked at the menu, there is no meatloaf with brown gravy. I went with Smothered Pork Chops, Mac and Cheese, extra 4 oz . gravy. I also ordered cabbage and greens mix, but received greens only. It's on my receipt. Reading is fundamental. So much for customer service. I took off a star for not honoring my request for Greens and Cabbage mix. That wasn't a "Special Request," it's on the menu. The food was edible, that's all I'm going to say about the food. Forgive any typos, typed on a mobile device.

DELICIOUS!!!!!!! I can't wait to go again! The food was so good. My favorite was the fried chicken!! & honestly I don't even like fried foods so I was AMAZED! SOOO GOOD. The service was quick and everyone was so nice. Lots of happy faces and lots of good vibes. I enjoyed looking at all the memories on the walls and the family pictures.

    (8) FRIED CHICKEN FAMILY MEAL

Wow is this place amazing! Fried chicken and all the sides were so delicious! I came here with my family of 9, and we ordered 3 family meals because the fried chicken was so good we needed at least 3 pieces each! The staff were so friendly, always checking in to see if we needed anything, and also the owner even checked in. You really felt welcomed and cared for! It was busy on a Sunday and yet every person that I approached or came to help always smiled genuinely. Music and the place was so lovely. Although there was no designated parking for the restaurant, I was able to find parking right on the street! Would absolutely come back!!

No idea who I hadn't reviewed Dulan's before. Whatever the case, here goes ... Stopped in with friends to support the business and also because I gotta eat. Not to mention, totally love southern home cooking. Something about soul food almost makes me want to say "southern home cooking" is my comfort food, when asked the question. Anyway, No dedicated parking lot here. It's street parking but I've never had an issue here. I've always just turned onto the cross street and found spots in the residential areas. I don't know if there are restrictions but check for yourself. This most recent visit, was there for definitely more than an hour, and no ticket. Service was, and has always been excellent. So friendly and helpful. To the point that it was like I was a guest in someone's home and I was being told to just sit and relax, while they took care of everything. Even down to getting condiments, refills or other things that I could have easily went to the counter to get or ask for. As for the food - started with the corn bread muffins. I could eat those all day long. I had to stop before I filled up and couldn't enjoy the sides and my entree; meatloaf and basically just about the entire side menu. See pics. Call me nuts, but the only thing I thought was just ok was the mashed potatoes. I enjoyed everything else. Everything ... Greg stopped in. Chatted it up for a bit and got a pic with him. Hope the business thrives as too many places are closing down and it was would be sad to see another institution fail here in today's economy. So, go for the food. The service. The history. If you don't know the roots, check out the webiste.

Fried Catfish, CANDIED YAMS, MACARONI & CHEESE
    Monica B.

Ordered takeout from this location for the first time, and overall it was pretty decent--though I promise my grandma still cooks better! The macaroni was a bit on the bland side, but the fried catfish was excellent--crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of my meal. The service was friendly and quick, and my order was ready right on time. The restaurant itself had a warm, welcoming vibe with a cozy, down-home feel that made me want to dine in next time. I'd come back again just for that catfish!

I am so shocked to see that Dulan's has such a low rating on Yelp because my experience was nothing less than incredible! My boyfriend and I decided to check out Dulan's before a show nearby at CineVita. We got there around 7 pm on Saturday and managed to find street parking close by. We received a very warm welcome from their staff and manager, and were told how to proceed with our order. We decided on two fried chicken plates, which come with 2 cornbread muffins, and 2 sides. I chose Mac and cheese and dressing and my boyfriend got Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. You also have the option to pick between a two piece and four piece. We ended up going with the 2 piece which was more than enough, and portions are big, and you will be stuffed by the end of your meal. Once you order and pay for your meal upfront, you have the option to sit indoors in their beautifully decorated and spacious restaurant or in their heated outdoors section. The weather was lovely out, so we sat outside. Within a few minutes one of their staff brought us warm corn bread muffins with butter, which were amazing and the perfect start to the meal. A couple minutes later we received our fried chicken plates, which were so flavorful and delicious. The chicken was so perfectly fried, not greasy, and so juicy, and the sides were also seasoned well, and went so well with the chicken. My boyfriend and I have ever since been dreaming of going back. It was a true comfort food experience. We cannot wait to come back for the hospitality and incredible food!

Fried Fish Dinner Special (feeds 2, so I made a plate. Comes with 4 pieces of fish)

Updated review. Service and food get 5 stars from me. Favorite protein: fried chicken and fried fish. I honestly have mostly just stuck to the chicken because it's good and consistent. Very crispy and seasoned well, not too salty. Favorite sides: candied yams!!!, mac and cheese, cabbage, dressing with or without the gravy - it's good both ways. The cornbread comes with all the meals, but honorable mention for that as well. The service here is good, too. Even during busy times. I like dining in too, because I feel you get a little more (extra cornbread, bigger drinks). Sometimes the wait times are longer for to go orders but when I dine in the food comes out hot and quick. The dining room and outside patio are both nice as well. It's decorated beautifully, with lots of family photos on the walls. There's usually street parking right out front

This review is long overdue. I've been coming to Dulan's for years, and even before that I was a regular at Aunt Kizzie's Back Porch in the marina, run by Greg Dulan's father, Adolf , back when I was in college. The legacy runs deep, and it shows. The food is always fresh. The service has never wavered. I've been here for community meetings and for meals with family, and every time the atmosphere feels welcoming. Greg has always been present in the community, and his team carries that same spirit of support and care. The staff knows how to make you feel at home, and the food never disappoints. Every plate feels like it was made with pride. Rating: 5 Soulful Plates

If you are looking for good soul food in the South Los Angeles area, check out this spot. Dulan's serves up all the traditional dishes I grew up eating as a kid. Chicken, prepared a number of ways, even smothered, meatloaf, fish and my favorite item here, that stands out above all is the macaroni and cheese. The staff is friendly and provides solid recommendations based on your taste. There is indoor and outdoor seating with a laid back atmosphere, unless it's crowded. Parking on the street can get slim but the food is worth it.

WOW, Amazing soul food. Friendly staff, fast ordering, served fast, and seating is nice. Tried the meatloaf one day and fried chicken the next. Both were absolutely amazing. Had the macaroni and cheese, red beans, and mashed potatoes for sides all were great, the mac'n'cheese was so cheesy. The lemonade is so refreshing as well. Ate here 3 days in a row. So good, will return for sure.

Ask the Community - Dulan's On Crenshaw

    Is sugar in the food?

I would call the location and ask if they do and what food.

Do they serve oxtails on a daily basis now at the Crenshaw location?

They do not serve during the week

What is the ETA on opening the Crenshaw location? Its been over a year now.

This location is currently open Tuesday - Sunday from 11am to 8pm

    Are they open on Thanksgiving?

    Yes

    Do they serve turkey wings?

They serve turkey wings as a part of their Sunday dinner menu, but that's the only time.

Do they serve gumbo? I don't see it listed on the menu from their website

    They do not

Are the veggie dishes made with lard or any meat?

Believe the collards were seasoned with turkey. I'm pretty sure it wasn't pork. The yams had butter/lard.

Is the Sunday dinner *only* offered on sundays?

Hi Jennifer: Yes the Sunday Dinner Menu is only offered on Sundays. Please see our Menu on our website www.dulansoncrenshaw.com for the Lunches and Dinners that we offer Monday thru Saturday.

What kind of fish do they serve exactly?

I guess t depends on the day. It seems that I have seen catfish, snapper, or filet o sole there at different times. I've never had their fish, though.

I have a hard time at Cheesecake Factory and that just stresses me out. I feel like their food menu is compact, thoughtfully created, and appealing. We had a very difficult time not ordering the entire menu. So we ended up eating almost half of it. Drinks menu was also very innovative and the drinks were STRONG. I also appreciate that they have non-alcoholic versions of some of their drinks. I wasn't indulging that day so Hubby and I were able to sample one of each type. Calamansi Mojito ($20) for him and Ube Horchata ($14) for me. As for what we ate: Manila Mais ($18) - 2.5/5 stars - It was, okay. Filipino-ized version of Mexican elote, corn-ribs style. Though it had Filipino elements like the bagoong butter, it didn't really taste like anything different. And to be honest, the bagoong butter didn't bring anything to the table the way it was presented to the side of the corn. It was too hard and just sat on the elote as you ate it. Kare Kare Tamales ($26) - 5/5 stars - UH-AMAZING!!! I could have eaten two, regular-sized tamales versions of this as an entree instead of two smaller appetizer size. The braised oxtail inside the tamales was soft and tender but the peanut butter veloute was *chef's kiss*. You definitely tasted kare kare but in an innovative way. I just wish they had some steamed rice or bread so I could soak up the sauce. I almost cried when they took the plate away because I didn't want to waste the sauce! Bicol Express Mezzelune ($38) - 4/5 stars - I was eyeing this originally but opted not to until the chef came out and talked us into it. And I'm so glad he did! This was delicious! Ironically enough, I just cooked traditional Bicol Express the week before and this definitely hit those notes without being a carbon copy of it. Again, where was the rice?! Only thing I can dock is that I felt like the pasta was a tad too thick and was chewy to my taste. Otherwise, I would definitely order this again. Was the sleeper hit of the dinner. Crab Fat Fried Rice ($38) - 5/5 stars - Crab? Crab fat? In rice?? Of course, sign me up! So delicious and a very generous portion. I wanted to hoard it to myself but I guess I had to share with Hubby. Would order this again. Ribeye Salpicao ($96) - 3/5 stars - Not my favorite of the bunch and this surprised me because I love rib eye. It came out medium instead of the medium rare we ordered and the taste was just not to my preference. It's possible that it was just overshadowed by the other excellent dishes we had. Likely will not order again though the portion was generous. Two minor things I wish they had but not enough to dock stars: Rice and spoons. Come on, now! This is a Filipino place! These two are musts? How else could I mop up all the delicious sauces they put on the food?! Service was impeccable! From front of the house host, bartender, and the chefs, the experience was very welcoming and polished. We sat at the bar and was able to chat with the chefs when they came to introduce themselves to us and they were the nicest people. You felt like you came to a friend's house and not an impersonal stranger's. Will definitely be back to try the other half of the menu we missed and we'll be bringing friends!

The food was amazing, but the atmosphere was what really made the night special. And Chris, who took care of us, exceeded our expectations with his wonderful service. At first, I was a little worried that the portions might be too small, but we ended up leaving with our bellies full and very happy! We had such a great time and will definitely be coming back. Next time, I'd love to bring my parents and share this experience with them. Highly recommend!

My wife and I stopped here a few weekends back for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed the food. The ambiance here is pretty generic, white and bright and very copy and paste of a lot of places popping up recently. The staff was super friendly while taking our orders and dropping the food off, which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Santo's Turkey Melt which is smoked turkey, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle aioli served on sourdough with a side of french fries. The sandwich was really good and the same can be said for the french fries and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fries given, so thumbs up to that. I forgot what the food costs so I visited the website and for some reason they don't think it's important to put that online, which is pretty darn stupid if you ask me. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience at Sandcouch Cafe and I would visit again in the future thanks to it's convenient location. The food was solid and the staff was friendly, and that's really all I need when ordering a sandwich.

It's conveniently located to the LA Convention Center, Crytpo.com arena, and LA Live which makes it a must visit before or after an event! I am obsessed with their happy hour, which offers healthy items at discounted prices with generous portions! I have been here so many times throughout the years but most recently found myself here during a busy World Cup match! Regardless, the service and quality of food was not sacrificed! I was greeted as soon as I got there and the bartenders were overwhelmed but still friendly and helpful. I was so tempted to get a margarita, since theirs are amazing, but decided to keep it dry and just get their vegan nachos. I was able to score a table outside on their lovely patio, which felt secluded enough from the main street. My food was brought out quicker than I thought and I was delighted, as I was famished! The vegan nachos here are fantastic and the happy price is only $10, which is a steal for what you get! They are costed in the most magical concoction of a bean puree, cashew cheese sauce, and guacamole which all have the most creamy, luscious and savory flavors. It's so hearty and well seasoned and not only filling, but you feel great after. Parking is pretty easy, as there are usually ample meters available nearby. I cannot wait to return again soon the next time I'm in Downtown LA! I am hoping to try more of their vegan options and next time I will for sure get a drink to go along with their delicious food!

I ordered the Espresso Martini, and it tasted pretty watered down and lacked the bold coffee flavor I was hoping for. On the bright side, the food was definitely the highlight. To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Parking: there's valet and several of lots but watch out for the $5 small print. I went 2 blocks up by the residential area and was able to find parking on a Saturday around 12pm. For drinks, i had a classic Aperol Spritz, which was very nice and refreshing. But I had to try Florida Man because of these ingredients (blueberry rested Ilegal mezcal, Lo-Fi vermouth, lemon, African basil). They have a really good beverage program, and I would like to come back more for drinks and try the Bro over Tomatoes. For food, I got the pop over benedict, honestly, I didn't know what I was expecting because I was assuming a regular benedict, but it was the most beautiful presention and delicious hollandaise sauce i've ever had in my life! The hollandaise has a little spice to it that blended well with the creaminess. I also had that barbecue oysters, which is basically oyster rockefeller. I really how they have fun names of their drinks as well as their food. The service were absolutely delightful. My server made me laugh. When I asked him, what should I get between one or the other drink, and he suggested, why not get one after the other which made me chuckle. A definitely a great sales person.
