This place is my guilty pleasure out here in the AV. Service is always fast and there is public parking in the street as well as a lot pretty close by. An odd thing about this place is the menu placement. It will be behind you but in front of the cash register so you'll be turning your backs to them to look at the menu, it's not a big deal but adds a bit of charm. The portions are pretty generous. A single crunch is enough for both lunch and dinner. The crunch is my favorite menu item (not the cheese crunch, which adds nacho cheese). The crunch is basically chicken and other ingredients wrapped up in a flour tortilla, fried with cheese on the outside, and then cut in half. The sandwiches are good too. I've been getting them at the highest spice level, Sassy AF and it is manageable. The sauces help a lot too. If you order out they typically give you a few sauces (one is orange and one is ranch-like), and if you dine in they normally give you 4 squeeze bottles all containing a different sauce. The bottles can get a bit oily as the food here is oily. For the crunch in particular, I really like the tater tots. The chicken prices were also juicy. I also ordered a Sassy Sando with everything on the side so I could try it the next day you know just pop the chicken in the air fryer, I selected the hot spice level for that one. The fries were amazing!!! perfectly seasoned and easily the best part of the meal. I'd definitely come back for the fries. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the chicken sandwiches. I found it odd that the fries were so flavorful while the chicken lacked seasoning. Because of that, I wouldn't personally recommend the sandwich. The next day, I tried Sassy Sando using all the toppings that had been packed separately. Everything still tasted fresh, almost like I had just purchased it. However, despite the hot spice level, the sandwich didn't have much flavor beyond the heat. It was spicy, but not particularly tasty. The customer service was excellent. The employee who took my order was polite, read everything back to me, and even brought my order outside and reviewed it again to make sure everything was correct. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has a nice atmosphere and scenery, which I really enjoyed. The management changes have really made this place go downhill sm! I use to love coming here to get their fried Mac and cheese balls. They recently increased the price from $9 to $15. Which is crazy, business must not be doing too well! But the real crazy part is the quality, look at the picture. Only 1 out 3 balls were actually good and presentable. 1 of them was all cracked open and the other was completely burnt, I couldn't eat the burnt one at all! Stumbled on this place a couple of years ago, and I always stop here if I'm in the area. The staff here is friendly, always, and today we got greeted and helped by the owner. Anthony is very friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Anthony didn't hesitate to recommend fan favorites, he took our order and repeated it to make sure it was accurate. Food took a bit of time, and it was worth the wait. The chicken tender was hot fresh out the fryer, and the sassy Mac bowls were on point. But let me tell you- this was *THE* singular best chicken sandwich I have ever had the pleasure of gracing my taste buds with! I'm just visiting in town until tomorrow. I think I remember the gentleman telling me that there's almost an entire pound of chicken (so come hungry!) I ended up getting the "Hot" dry rub sandwich (wasn't quite brave enough to get the "Sassy AF" on the first visit lol). Very perfectly and lightly breaded. The dry rub was phenomenal! Just enough heat to kick you in the rear and let you know that it's there. And a very subtle (but not at all overpowering) sweetness that I can't quite put my finger on, but these folks found *just* the right amount to keep it classy and perfect. You can just about taste every single ingredient in the dry rub individually. The flavors all just kinda dance around. My only VERY minor critique is that I wish the bun was slightly more toasted. But that's just me being super nitpicky. Does not change my decision to give this place a glowing 5 star review at all! Nice spot in the downtown area near the theater. Parking was decent, but on a Friday night you might have to hoof it for a block or two. The chicken was delicious, spicy, and made-to-order. Be cautious with the spice, btw, I'm a fine of spicy chicken but the regular "hot" was my limit. So only the adventurous types should go for the hottest level. It's clear nobody in Lancaster has ever left the town to try an actual Nashville chicken sandwich, let alone a decent one, because this was one was just plain sad. And quite frankly, without getting too ahead of myself, it's even more surprising when a chicken shack has better fries than their chicken. Starting off with a first impression upon walking in, this restaurant is trashed. It's clear management nor the employees maintain the place, between the chipped paint, broken boards and moulding, the bad stench coming from the "storage closet" next to the line, and the dirty, sticky floors. It's also pretty annoying to not have any interior seating when it's raining considering they have PLENTY of room to put tables and chairs yet choose to close off the area with the rickety desk set-up as a makeshift cashier. It's also awkward having the menu screen to your back when you face the cashier. We ordered the mild sandwich with fries. I will say I love the box everything is served in. Definitely haven't seen that style before and it's unique. The fries are also absolutely outstanding. Shockingly good, actually. They are steak fries but fried so damn well, they have an amazing crisp and crunch on EVERY. SINGLE. FRENCH FRY. And it seems they coat them in baking soda or cornstarch to get that crunch which is totally fine by me. The rest of the food was bad. We were given their "ranch" and "sassy dip" which both taste the same except for the consistencies which, quite frankly, both were way too watery. The major difference was the "sassy dip" was more mayo-water and the ranch was just tangy-water. Whoever makes these dips should honestly be ashamed of themselves for even letting the batch be served. As for the sandwich, the only good thing was the size. Although the fries were served hot, the sandwich was cold. The bun was burnt and dry. The chicken was dry and rubbery. Although we got the "mild" spice, there was absolutely no flavor. Go to any place serving actual Nashville Hot Chicken and even the "mild" will have flavor and spice. The batter was also soggy and fell off the chicken with each bite. The coleslaw was also watery and full of mayo. This place doesn't deserve anything close to the average rating it has. read more
