I can't say enough good things about Michael And Son…read more Today, their technician Llich Landaverde arrived on time and fixed an electrical issue I had in my kitchen promptly and professionally. He also reviewed several potential safety issues that I had around the home. He was able to get me a quote to replace my smoke detectors with Alexa enabled ones and is helping me to get my concrete steps repaired as a next project. I found him extremely courteous and professional, I highly recommend this gentleman and his company.

I can no longer recommend Michael & Son Services. I have used them several times over the years,…read morebut based on the last few visits I'll do my research and find other providers. My HVAC was making loud vibrating and rattling sounds. A technician arrived late, did a very brief visual inspection (without even opening it up), misdiagnosed the problem as air ducts, said it's "not something we do," and left in under 10 minutes. I had questions but he seemed more interested in leaving than helping. A year before that, I was having a different issue and I had the same experience with a technician more interested in ending his day than fixing the problem. In all honestly, I felt both turned down fixing the problem because it was raining or snowing on the days they arrived. On the other hand, a technician from a DC-area family-owned company actually took the time to find the problem, open the HVAC system, and properly fix it in under two hours -- and it had nothing to do with air ducts. This guy answered all my questions, was friendly, and actually offered recommendations and offered to come back if the issue returns. I do not feel like Michael and Sons would do the same for me anymore.

So, I first want to start off by saying that every single technician/expert that has provided…read moreservice to us has been FANTASTIC! Fullstop. This review is based on recent experiences with customer service representatives/admin folks. So it was during calls to the main number, and we reside in Virginia. We recently had a very expensive repair for a hot water heater that severely damaged our circuit breaker box. So the techs came out, did their thing and were phenomenal. However, in order for us to submit the repairs for reimbursement with our home warranty company, we require an itemized invoice. As per the egregiously rude phone reps we have encountered, there is a company policy against itemized invoices. Like, WHAT!?! I have never experienced anything like it in the history of working with service providers. There is always an itemized invoice. However, that in itself is not the issue. First, my spouse spoke to someone who said that it is only possible to obtain by escalating to a manager. So we waited and attempted to follow-up. Each time after we both tried to follow-up, we encountered some of the rudest, most unprofessional individuals on the line. Not to mention, AGAIN, how does it make sense that you are doing work of this magnitude and cannot produce an invoice that breaks down parts and labor!?! I am certain that this isn't the first time in history that the company encountered this kind of request when customers are dealing with insurances and warranty companies. It is wholly disappointing, when you consider that the individuals in the field doing the labor intensive work can be overshadowed by the policies of the company. I literally have no idea what to say at this point, but that we will be transitioning to Michael & Son's or another provider. Because who wants to pay this kind of money to be mistreated on the backend for something as simple as an itemized invoice. Such a shame!

Was pleased with the…read moreexperience, which simply involved taking measurements and asking what changes I might want with the setup--much better than the high-pressure sales pitch from the bigger companies in the area. We pushed off the replacement thinking our unit would survive one more winter, but of course of furnace went out unexpectedly in the middle of the night during one of the coldest stints of the season. Called Residential Express the following morning, they pulled up my quote from 4 months prior, verified the price hadn't changed and were able to schedule me for a full HVAC replacement the next day. Freddie and Flavian arrived on time and were very professional moving through our house and working in our backyard and utility closet. They explained any changes they needed to make, went over the new setup and recommended service intervals, and hauled all of the old equipment away, leaving our house looking better than when they arrived. Very happy with our experience with Residential Express and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.

Mike Schick spent so much time on the phone with me, answering all my questions and describing in detail the process and all related issues. They got my business from that call alone. Also, I forget how much a county license is, but they mark it up to account for their time - which I understand. The other company marked it up dramatically more. Fast forward one year, my plug is glitchy. I called Mike again at 4:30 on a Friday, left a msg, expected to hear back on Monday. He called me back at 5 pm. Again, he was patient, asked me about the issues I was having. He told me what plug to buy and told me that they'd install it for free. I didn't even ask for that, but they completely stand behind their work. Anyway, I was impressed, thought I'd post this review.

We understand electricians don't patch the walls, but they also did not have to make our walls so dirty full of scratches and skid marks. More care should have been put into the process as they installed new wires. We got a quote from them, and booked their service. They promised to come between 8 am and noon on an agreed upon date. On that day, however, they were missing in action. No call (despite their promise of calling us to confirm the exactly time, on the morning of). No message. We had to call the company headquarter many times. They kicked us from one person to the next like football. No answer. No updates. Each time we called (starting at noon) they'd say the electrician should arrive in the next 20 or 30 minutes and he'll give you a call. Nope! Nothing. Finally at 4 pm the electrician showed up. We asked him what was the hold up. He said coldly: you have to ask our office. The job of installing one chandelier to the ceiling of our dining room took them 4 hours! It ruined our evening plan. They did not finish up until 8 pm! We were supposed to go to our friend's house for dinner (and they cooked a feast) at 6:30! Bad service. Mis-communication and bad communication. Badly done job (lot of traces left on our wall, see photos).

I really valued his expertise and guidance as this home was built by the original owner in '59 and he did some weird stuff. I feel like I can now sleep in a safe house because he brought it up to 2026 standards. I've had him back for rewiring of an outdoor shed that had no power. He and Ronnie got it all up and running. RL and his crew installed my new Navian boiler/hot water combo. The original boiler was still going but barely. This new system is state of the art and all of their plumbing work is museum worthy. They never cut corners and stayed until work was complete. This was a major job because all new wiring and venting systems had to be added. They saved me money by pointing out my air conditioner was good and should last at least another 5 -10 years and didn't need replaced at this time. I signed up for their regular yearly service check-up's. I couldn't be happier I contacted this company, I feel like this home will take me through the next 50+ years with few issues.

Kenny is a 10/10 and the value he provided was excellent.
