Harry came over during the holiday and didn't charge extra for weekend/holiday rates. Was very fast and efficient. Very sensitive to our needs as well. He saw that we took off our shoes before entering the main area of the house, and he did likewise. Usually people don't care about those little things when going over people's houses for repair/work.. but Harry seems to be very respectful of his customer's needs. Small family owned company he says .. just him and his son running the family business. I'm all about supporting small businesses. Glad to have had Harry come over and take care of our needs read more

So I have used Penguin Aire before and they were actually pretty good. They came to my house replaced a capacitor in my outside unit... That charge was around $400. Then over a year later, I called them back for the same unit, similar problem. My unit was having a hard time keeping up with the heat during the day, so my upstairs was getting really really hot upwards of 77+ degrees even though it was set at 68 and the other unit worked just fine. He came out and ran a few tests and said my unit was actually perfect. Nothing wrong with it. But then he charged me $450 for a service call in which he didn't have do anything to the unit. I and the wife was left a little dumbfounded. We have a unit that 'works perfect' and yet it can't keep the upstairs cool and I was still charged $450 and he didn't actually replace anything. Your mileage may vary. read more

Our air handler and hot water heater failed pretty much simultaneously. Called this company and Phil was able to make arrangements immediately before things got worse. He was professional, punctual and installed the systems in a timely manner. Would use again. read more

I first called Penguin Aire over 10 years ago, they worked on both of our AC units at different times and kept them going for us. In 2016 the upstairs AC/heatpump needed replacement, they did a fantastic job, it is still running great. This summer our main AC/furnace (25 years old) had no life left. We asked for quote and decided to have Penguin replace it. They did a fantastic job and worked very hard to get it in before the really hot spell. Harry and Phil are experienced experts and provide high quality work and amazing customer service. read more

Penguin Aire is run by one individual but he is available 24/7. Unfortunately, I have had to utilize his services more than I would care to but I have never once felt scammed. His background is Electrical Engineering but he somehow found his niche in the HVAC market. Even though he doesn't charge an hourly rate, he is very quick with his services. His troubleshooting skills are always on point. He is very professional and prompt with arrival. This guy has been in my life for the last 6 years and I am ashamed to say that I do not know his name. I assume I am usually so delusional from lack of AC that my manners go out the window when he arrives. If you are ever in the need of Heating & Cooling services, let Penguin Aire be your first stop. I am sure you will see his prices and services will surpass other chains in the area. read more

See the before and after pictures..my outside AC unit is 33 yrs old, and the capacitor went out and nearly burned up! Phillip came out right away and replaced the capacitor, added a booster hard start and replaced the old wires..! Unit is back up and running..I can't say enough about these guys!! read more

I can't say enough good about Penguin Aire. It is a family run business and both father,Harry, and son, Phil and their supporting crew do a top notch job for heating and air conditioning issues. Whether it is fixing a problem on your old unit, or installing a new one, they strive to put techinical expertise and customer satisfaction first. You'll find them easy to talk to and anxious to solve any HVAC issues. We had both Harry and Phil service our old unit and when it came time to replace it with a new one, we knew who to call. I recently called them since my roofing inspector believed a leak was coming from the HVAC Trane ( Which was only 2 years old) and Phil came out instantly, checked it out and actually found the real leak which was coming from the roof! They are a class act; you can't go wrong with them. Judy Rohrer read more

We are new house owner and after living always in apartment we know nothing about heating accept turn on, of or call maintenance:) So when our heat stop working we had no clue what to do. We had call Penguin and few hours later Bob show up. He ask us few question and start checking our furnace, in no time our heat was up and running. He explain us what to check and how to set up our thermostat to have warm house and not to spend fortune. Highly recommending! read more

Phil and family did an excellent job with an upstairs HVAC install after our original unit that came with the house we bought died. After dealing with a couple of other companies that came with high reviews I was becoming very discouraged with how much money each company thought they could get from us. Phil gave us a quote based on what we needed and when we wanted a higher end unit, tried to talk us out of it as being not necessary. Install was professional and painless, price was very reasonable, extremely satisfied with service. Highly recommend this family run company. read more

I called him at 1:00 on a Friday, based on other Yelp reviews. I was expecting to end up with an appointment spanning a 6-hour window a week away, but Harry was at my house at 2:30 that day. The AC system was frozen solid, so he couldn't do much that day, but was back promptly at 7:am the next day and got me back up and running. My system is old, and needs to be replaced soon, and if he'd pushed, he probably could have sold me on a new system. Instead, he helped get the existing system back up and running to squeeze as much life as possible out of it before having to replace the whole thing. He was friendly, and explained to me exactly what was going on and what he was doing about it, in a way I could understand (I have essentially no HVAC knowledge). He also checked in with me a day after leaving (and after he'd already been paid), to make sure everything was working properly, which I thought was a nice touch. read more

Praise: We've used Penguin Aire several times over the years for our HVAC system, either for preventive maintenance or the rare repair. When our hot water heater broke several days ago and dumped water all over the downstairs floor, I called and got Harry out to our house in a matter of a few hours. As busy as he is, he never keeps us waiting for long. He assessed the situation, gave me a reasonable price quote, and set the new heater install for today. The installation was done by Phil, and he did an excellent and thorough job. He also called me a couple hours after the install was complete, to make sure the system is working properly. The quality of the parts and expertise of the installation is second to none - we're VERY happy with the service we've had from Penguin Aire, and are happy to recommend them. Complaints: Not one. Literally. Couldn't have been better. read more

These guys are simply amazing! My air conditioning system stopped blowing cold air last night and I texted them at 703-962-1976 and immediately received a reply and they came out to my house this morning at 8AM. They fixed my system within an hour cleaned both outside units, and gave me a shot of Freon. I have relied on Penguin on a number of occasions and each time I am so very happy with their responsiveness and results. They are exceptionally friendly and courteous, and take the time to thoroughly explain the problem and fix. They treat their customers fairly and honestly because they know, in today's cold, impersonal world, quality customer care results in repeat business. And I will use no one else. They are that professional and wonderful to work with. read more

Amazing...long story short our heater was turning off due to bad airflow issues, we had another company come out and service it, they increased the airflow fan speed and said it was fixed. I go to bed and realize its colder than usual and go to check and turns out that the air coming out of the vent is cold! That night my family went to bed w no heat and the house dropped to 60 degrees! I tried calling the service company first thing in the morning and what do you know they are closed on sat...So i rolled the dice and called Penguin to see if they could come out and Harry answers the phone (early morning) and i explain my situation and he was very sympathetic but unfortunately had no appts until Monday but heres where the story gets good. Instead of just hanging up Harry advised me to go to the furnace and he walked me through what he thought the issue was and what steps i should take to troubleshoot, all over the phone! He is very knowledgable enough to know where everything is even without seeing my actual furnace..And guess what, I got my furnace to reset and the heat started flowing again! Thank you so much Harry for your dedication and compassion to customers and non customers alike. I'll def be contacting you if I have any future issues! read more

Two days ago I woke up to a broken furnace and a cold house. I called Penguin and Harry arrived within two hours. He was very thorough and very honest, vacuumed my furnace, and replaced the exhaust fan at a reasonable price. He noticed my hot water heater was leaking (it was old) and arranged for his son, Phil, to come over today and install a new one. Phil and his partner, Tony, were here right on time at 7:00 AM. They were very pleasant, and Tony even cleaned out the drain outside my back door! I recommend this company without reservation! read more

Harry is a good guy , honest and he has a lot of experience. I called him to check up my A/c and he add 1 IB R22 and didn't charge as much as the other company . I have America Shield insurance but they always send the cheap and the worst so I decided to call Penguin company and he did a great job and also I signed a service contract with Harry. My neighbors asked him for a quote to replace the heater fan which another guy quote him $500 to replace it but Harry checked it out and he said it need to be clean only and charge him $20!!!! Great Job Harry and I'll refer him to everybody., read more

Our AC stopped putting out cold air over the weekend, so I called Penguin Aire after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. They are as good as everyone says! Phil came out within an hour of when I called, and immediately put me at ease. He diagnosed our AC problem and recharged the system right away so I could make it to work on time, and he followed up with me to find out how it was working when I got home. I thought the price was fair (especially for this area) and Phil also repaired some insulation on the connections to the house for free. I will definitely be using Penguin Aire when we replace our HVAC next year. read more

Harry is absolutely the most honest and best HVAC guy I have ever done business with. I first met him in 2004 when I purchased my own heat pump and air handler online, I probably saved $5,000 by doing that however, since I didn't buy the equipment at a huge mark-up from an HVAC contractor nobody would touch bringing it online. It's wise to have a licensed and insured contractor wire your system, charge it and fire it up for the first time in case you have electrical issues and burn your house down. I finally found Penguin Aire Heating and Cooling and Harry and he said that he would be glad to inspect it and finish wiring, charge, and initial startup. He was complimentary of the work that I did myself and he charged a very reasonable rate for his services. I will ALWAYS call Harry when I have HVAC needs. I referred him to my neighbors and to my parents and his son came out and installed a new gas furnace at my parents house. Call Harry for all of your HVAC needs, you will be glad that you did. read more

Top notch service! Came out super quick, did some troubleshooting, and got me some cold air again. Friendly, fast, and efficient. So glad they could come check it out. They showed up within an hour and I would have been happy if they could have been here the tomorrow since it's 90 million degrees out and everyone is hot. I highly recommend them. Thanks, Penguin Aire! read more

Harry just came out to fix my AC. He came same day within 2 hours of the call and he communicated some good info about the AC unit and general maintenance. Great experience. I was pretty sure it was freon as it happens every couple years. After calling around about freon pricing his was reasonable and his service fee is applied to pricing of repair costs if work is done. He completed the work quickly and it was adding freon and some valve replacement (which he didn't charge for). He did charge a service fee though but stated that if he has to come back out for the rest of the season for any reason the visit would be free. I was happy about the service and experience and will call again in a couple years for more freon - or other issues too. read more

Penguin Aire came to the rescue again yesterday! Upstairs unit stopped working; needed freon and replacement plugs. Fast, efficient and as others have mentioned - extremely kind and trust worthy! This is the 2nd time we used Penguin Aire (2 separate circumstances) and I can highly recommend them. They were on time, pleasant, efficient and took the time to answer my concerns and explain the situation with the AC unit in question. Wouldn't hesitate to call again if needed. Thank you Harry ( and partner) for coming to the rescue in the hot month of July!! read more

Good guy, I was referred by a friend who had been using this guy for years. Finds the problem and fixes it instead of making reasons why you need to buy a new system. Doesn't try to upsell anything or force you into some service contract, almost shocking for this day and age. read more

This company was great. They came out the day we called and had our AC up and running by that afternoon. They explained everything to me very clearly and their prices were very reasonable. They charged less than half of what the other companies we called quoted us to come out and take look at our HVAC. read more

Penguin HVAC technicians are by-far the most friendly, respectful and professional repair guys I've ever met. Their response time was less than a day, while many other HVAC companies appointments were days, weeks and one was even over one month away! They provided an in-depth recommendation with no pressure to purchase, while completing the work well within the quoted time. The entire process of troubleshooting and component replacement was seamless! Highly recommend to anyone that wants a stress free HVAC repair experience. read more

Can't say enough positive things about them. Our system broke and needed a replacement. They were quick to provide and estimate and then schedule an install. They were proactive, professional, competitively priced and did a QUALITY job! Highly recommend. read more

Easy to schedule the service and didn't try to tell me my unit is broken. I like :-)

If there were 6 stars, I'd give it to them. Our AC went out and the temperature in the house was going up quickly. I called and spoke with Phil and he came out immediately... which we were very appreciative given that we have a two month old at home. Within an hour Phil had us back up and running! Highly recommend. read more
