We proceeded to replace the existing unit because it was near its end of life and replacing the compressor would not be cost effective in the long term. Air Treatment Heating & Cooling was able to replace the entire unit during the peak summer season within a couple of days. From start to finish, personnel was friendly, professional, and installed the new unit with no problems. We got their base maintenance plan with 2 inspection services each year, and used that for about 3 years (no real issues to fix.) During one inspection in 2024, the tech realized that our furnace water pan had filled (but not so high it shut off yet) and he helped identify the problem and luckily was able to fix it the same day (no parts/ charge.) He suggested in a non-pushy way that it really may benefit us to up our plan to the higher one (almost double the cost/yr, so a little scary) because we're probably entering the zone where larger repairs may start for our furnace and the plan covered most of the types of parts that would be in a significant repair. He seemed knowledgeable and trustworthy, so we decided to at least do it for a year. We were very lucky, because the next year was the epic winter - the furnace went out/ our YouTube tricks didn't get it running, and the red plan ($500/yr) meant we pushed to the top of the queue and got someone out when the temp was dropping in the whole house. Apparently the part needed to fix it was over $1,000 (not including install), and that was covered in our plan. So that proved the value for us! I know they were recently acquired/ merged with FH Furr, so it appeared that our online requests for service on the KCS site were not actually being seen/ addressed. When I got time to call over, the former red maintenance plan was unfortunately no longer sold by this new company. I got the "gold plan" which includes 2 HVAC inspections, a plumbing inspection, and an electrical inspection for honestly a price that is so cheap I'm worried it's going to be an upselling scam :/ so I'll update this as needed in the future to help others who may wondering if this new company will have the same service quality as pre-acquisition.

Undersized Equipment: For my 1,830 sq. ft. multi-level loft townhome, Bluestar installed a 2.5-ton National Comfort Products through-the-wall AC unit that is physically less than half the size of my original machine, leaving massive voids around the wall opening. Life-Safety Fall Hazard: The machine sits near the roofline several stories above a ground-level driveway. It rests inside the oversized opening without dedicated structural framing, a properly fitted sleeve, or mechanical mounting brackets to anchor it. Massive Gaps & Exterior Visibility: Gaping openings were left on the sides, so wide that I can clearly see neighboring townhomes and direct outdoor daylight from inside my utility closet. Soft Foil Tape & Expanding Foam: The top of the machine was sealed with only soft silver foil tape and flexible wrap rather than a rigid sheet metal transition or structural collar. Into the open side voids, Karol? messily sprayed orange expanding foam instead of constructing proper framing, trim, or weatherproofing. Dismissive Management (Lyn): I sent Lyn multiple detailed text messages and photos documenting my serious safety concerns, questions about the oversized opening, and the complete lack of structural support. Despite being fully informed of the severity and specifics of the hazard, Lyn trivialized the issue before 8:07 am on Sep 16, only replying that she would send someone back merely to "clean that up," offering no plan for structural framing or proper sleeve installation. Washington, D.C. Property Service Undelivered Documentation (Isaac): I was charged a significantly higher inspection fee specifically contracted to include an official written cause-of-damage report and a formal repair estimate for an insurance claim. Technician Isaac completed the on-site visit, but no written report or cost estimate was ever provided, despite multiple follow-up requests sent directly to both Lyn and Isaac. The installation guys were also very nice and did a great job, It's only been a few days so the system is running fine. The only gripe is that they left a lot of trash and residual foil and scrap pieces of the old ac up there. It was a pretty tidy space so it was noticeable and a little disappointed that they would leave parts and trash up there. I would say give them a call for service or new installation, but ask them to remove any trash and leave the place somewhat cleaned up. You pay a lot of money to replace a whole system and to find the space messy left a poor taste. It could've been an excellent service, but an oversight in minor details made it mediocre.

Had a leak in basement bathroom ceiling. I cut out the drywall ceiling, identified the joint where…read morethe pipe was leaking, determined a third floor toilet was the source of the water, set up a bucket, and then called swiftpro. Tyson came out and quickly determined the leak was not coming from the joint but rather from somewhere above. So now there was a mystery leak hidden behind the walls somewhere between the third floor and the basement. He suspected the pipe to be behind and certain section of wall on the middle floor and thought maybe a nail could be the culprit and checked to see if we had anything nailed to the wall, we didn't. So he had to pick a section of wall to cut behind to check and on his first try found the pipe and showed me exactly where the previous owner put a nail through the toilet drain pipe. I was originally concerned we'd have to open many walls and ceilings to find it and I'm still wondering how he found it so quickly. He also answered a ton of my questions.
