Our AC decided to stop cooling last week, and, like many people, I called the contractor number on the sticker of our furnace (who shall remain nameless...but you can probably guess). After their inspection, they said the compressor had died and that we should replace our ENTIRE AC system, since it was, in their opinion, a poor quality system. Price tag: over $3,000 and 6 hours to replace the compressor. They indicated that a full system replace would be about $10k-$15k. Shocked by this price and doubting that we needed such a drastic solution, we had the luck of calling Nasser at Relax Air. Nasser is a true professional in every sense: He is friendly, knowledgeable, conscientious, and, above all, honest! He was able to stop by the same day I called to do the inspection. He indicated that, contrary to the other guys, the unit was not horrible and that it would not take all day to fix. Finally, he quoted a price that was LESS THAN HALF what they were quoting. Once we agreed on the approach, he scheduled our appointment. To my surprise, he didn't say "I'll be by between 8 am and, oh,....never." like other companies. Instead, he offered 8:30 am, sharp! To actually get a definite time from a contractor is unheard of! And, he actually arrived at 8:15 am, not late, no excuses. He proceeded to remove several parts and handled getting them replaced free by Carrier (the unit was still under warranty). Bottom line: After a little less than 4 hours, we have not only a nicely working AC with new compressor and condenser, but he flushed and replaced our coolant and coolant filters, and sealed our lines. All for LESS THAN HALF what the other guys were offering, and with much less time. As if this weren't enough, he offers a 2-year warranty on his work..that's confidence! Nasser has just become our new go-to HVAC person. We're planning on having him out later this fall to inspect our heating unit. Call this guy...you'll be glad you did. read more

I have called Relax Air twice in the last two months and both times Kamal, the owner, has provided superior service. At the end of November the main furnace in the house stopped working on Saturday afternoon. Kamal came by in the evening to check out the problem, and said that he would have to replace a motor. I was expecting that no parts would be available until Monday morning at best, but Kamal offered to stop and see if he happened to have one in his shop. If so, he would fix the furnace the next morning. As it turned out, he didn't have the right part and we did have to wait for Monday, but just the extra effort is the sign of a company I want to work with. The repairs were made before noon on Monday, and the system has been working fine ever since. During the recent cold wave it became apparent that the heat pump was not working properly. In spite of being very busy, Kamal came and inspected after hours, determined that the entire unit, inside and out, would have to be replaced. He had the job done very quickly once again, even though he had to work long past normal business hours again for the installation. Kamal is very personable, very knowledgeable, takes time to explain the problem and possible solutions in detail, and cares about his customers. He put tarps down over every bit of the house he and his helper would be walking on. The prices he charged for his labor were the lowest I got when I checked various HVAC companies. Relax Air saved us today. They just installed our new AC system and it was a great experience. Our AC quit working and we called our usual HVAC company to fix it. They came and discovered ice all over the coil inside and left giving me instructions on how to thaw it. But said they would come out the next day to fix it/give us an estimate for a new system (we knew it was really old and any fix would be temporary). Fast forward two days and we had heard almost nothing from them and then suddenly we were informed they wouldn't be coming back for another week! Knowing a hot holiday weekend was approaching and with three little kids (including a 3 month old baby) in our house and no AC, I was scrambling. The work is very substantial and due to some poor design of my condo unit, it took them extra effort to take out and put in the indoor air handler, and open the dry wall for future access. R.A. Nasser from Relax Air came to our rescue, after we had had a very frustrating experience with the repair call we made to another company. We had been told that the compressor had gone bad in our old unit, so naturally we were prepared to replace the whole unit for nearly $5,000. I had made a call for a quote and received a call from Relax Air saying that he insisted on looking at the compressor himself to confirm the previous diagnosis prior to giving us a quote for the full unit replacement. I accepted his offer provided that there would not be a charge for it. Within 10 minutes of arrival and exposing of the control panel, he observed that the gas valve had been shut off and that freon could not travel through the line. He opened the valve and tested all the other components. when everything checked out, he gave us detailed instructions on the operation of the AC unit. In short he saved us thousands of dollars and repaired our AC unit for $120 that we insisted on paying, since Nasser had responded to our call so promptly and had fixed what seemed to have be a huge problem, so efficiently and expertly. This place saved me! Saturday night my ac stopped working. I had noticed it wasn't 100% for a week or two, but finally stopped working at all. Miserable night and unbearable heat the next morning (Sunday). I called first thing to see if any chance someone could come out that morning becauseI I was scheduled to fly out of town later that day and my cats would have died if I left it til I got back. It was 95 degrees inside my condo!! He looked at my 25 year old unit and did some magic, cleaning, fixing, filling and it's officially working again!! Our experience with Relax Air was very positive overall, despite a negative first impression. One of our AC units stopped working on a Friday night, so the following morning I called a few AC repair companies to set up an appointment. Relax Air was the only one that offered same-day service. The initial phone call was a bit odd, because once we had set up the appointment, the person asked me to follow up by sending him a text message with the details of the appointment. It struck me as a rather unprofessional way to manage appointments. I had a contract with another HVAC company who recently signed me to a maintenance agreement. When I changed thermostats and my AC stopped working they wanted to charge me a diagnostic to come out the next day. I decided to call around and Relax Air tried to troubleshoot the problem with me over the phone. As a DIYer, I was ecstatic to maybe fix it myself and avoid a service call altogether. That's honestly a huge reason I went with Relax Air. While we couldn't resolve over the phone, I cancelled my other service call and booked Relax Air for the next day. This master technician saved us over $700 and fixed our ac the same day we called. We had contacted a larger company when our compressor stopped working suddenly. Their rep came out and first tried hard to get us to spend many thousands to replace our furnace (which has been working fine). When that didn't work they said it was a control panel, they quoted a cost of over $1300, and said they could not say if or when they could find the part. so we would have been without air or heat when the temp went from 80 to 28. I called relax hvac, sent them the model numbers of the control panel and furnace, and as soon as he had a moment the same day he came by, and found the actual problem had been a chipmunk chewed a wire in the compressor! our control panel was fine!! Our main floor heater broke after a power failure in town. The original company I called came late, gave an initial estimate of $1k, then days later another estimate of a completely new system of $3k (their suggestion). They'd need to take measurements and order the part. FIVE days of having to follow up myself with the company I was fed up they hadn't even come by to take the measurements, the temps were dropping outside, the house temp was 61 with two space heaters running, and we needed the heat fixed ASAP. I called Relax Air. Kamal arrived as stated, did a thorough analysis, and concluded what the problem was. Called right there for parts availability, returned later that day, fixed everything. All for lower than $1k. Kamal is very nice, thorough, and incredibly competent. Yesterday I called Kamal to find out what it would cost to have a new cooling unit installed and when it could be done I told him I had been without cooling for almost 2 weeks while my home warranty company figured out how to do the job for me. They said I needed a new unit. Kamal said he would see if it could be fixed . He came in about an hour and fixed it. He didn't want me to pay a lot if it wasn't necessary. He worked on it for 3 hours until It was fixed. It needed a lot more work than he expected, but he didn't want to leave it for another day. He cared that it is too hot outside to be without cool air. My furnace died the Friday before Christmas. I called snell and they incorrectly diagnosed the problem and told me I had to wait a week to get the part. Not to mention the ridiculous price to install the part. I was out of heat for 5 days and ended up calling relax air Inc because of friends recommendations and from yelp. Kamal was over at my house in less than an hour diagnosed the correct issue, was able to get the part the next morning and come fix it all in less than 24 hours and for a fraction of the cost. I am furious with snell as they literally ruined my Christmas holidays, my family had to be bundled up for a whole week when instead if I had called Kamal first I'd be back up with heat in less than 24 hours. Look no further for Heating And AC service. This guy, Kamal, is HONEST and THOROUGH and reasonably priced. He does not up sell you to buy expensive repairs or expensive equipment. We had a furnace that was behaving erratically. We got two service calls from the BIG service providers in the area. They misdiagnosed the problem but recommended expensive and what turned out to be unnecessary repairs. To make matters worse, we discovered that they incorrectly wired the Heating system to the AC system!!!!! Kamal came over and spent quite a bit of time to diagnose and fix the problem. Great company, called and Kamal and Yura came out to my home same day. I explained the issue I had with my heating/ac system(heat wasn't working). Because they listened to me they were able to identify the problem within minuets-I needed a new motor for the exhaust fan. They gave me an estimate of how much it would probably cost and when they could probably get the part and come back to finish the project. They came back earlier then projected and the part cost less, in fact, the entire bill was VERY reasonable! There service was great I can understand why they have been in business for many years. I called early Monday morning... AC was blowing hot air as we headed into the hottest forecast week of the year. Kamal said he could come by when I got home from work. He diagnosed what appeared to be the primary issue, and advised we can do 'A', and hopefully that fixes it, but this problem might have caused a bigger one (so I would be prepared, just in case...). It was the end of a long day, any it was HOT in my attic, but he got right to it, was pleasant and efficient, and was able to get my cold air working again in short order. Excellent service. My external fan unit broke around towards midnight on a Saturday, and this was during a heat wave warning for Sunday. I called these guys in the morning (after a couple of others that didn't work Sundays), and they were able to come that evening! Analyzed the issue within 10 minutes of arrival, and had the unit working within 30 minutes. They told me the problem and offered me further services to help prevent it from happening again (along with some valuable information on fan unit maintenance!). Superb service by Relax Air!! I contacted Kamal for a second opinion after a different HVAC company quoted me a very large number for repair of capacitor and fan motor. My home in Ashburn is rented out and my tenants needed AC quickly. Kamal was extremely knowledgeable, polite, caring and professional. He came out the same day to repair the unit. His honesty is greatly appreciated. He discovered that there was nothing wrong with my fan motor (!!) and only my capacitor needed replacing.
