Superior Air Heating & Cooling should be your new choice for HVAC help. tldr: Better prices, quick response time and availability, able to fix the problem immediately, and was very helpful and patient throughout.
I needed next-day HVAC repair for an AC unit that stopped working. I searched on Yelp and read a bunch of reviews on all the companies. I was thinking I'd go with the #1 or #2 ranked company, but did one of the Yelp quotes where Yelp offers to send your request to multiple companies. Superior Air was one of the first companies to respond and Wilmer (the owner) immediately gave pricing info and availability options and he had a morning next day appointment.
I waited over an hour to get comparisons from other companies and actually, the #1 and #2 companies never responded. I called the #1 company and they told me their computer had responded, but that the message apparently didn't go though. The lady didn't seem all that bothered. Her diagnostic fee quote was comparable to Wilmer's, but the difference was that Wilmer applies his fee towards the cost of the repairs, which I think is way more appropriate.
So then I was a little concerned because while Wilmer was very responsive and seemed on his game, there were zero Yelp reviews. But when I Googled his company, there were quite a few Google reviews and he had a five-star rating. Wilmer was already demonstrating that he was willing to work to get my business, unlike the other complacent companies. I also liked that Superior Air had the Verified License badge and the Yelp Guarantee badge, so there's insurance if something doesn't go right. I chose Superior Air and booked the appointment. I received an immediate automated confirmation and then Wilmer confirmed as well.
The next day, just before the appointment window started, I got an automated message and a phone call from Wilmer that he was on his way and had a 30-minute ETA. He showed up on time and immediately got to work without a problem. My house is occupied by a tenant and Wilmer did an excellent job calling me in private and telling me exactly what he did, what was wrong with the unit, and how he could fix it. The capacitor had failed because it was older and my tenants were not changing the filters. I had a number of questions and Wilmer answered them all clearly and patiently. I did not feel rushed even when I had to call someone for advice and call Wilmer back. I gave him instructions on what I wanted done and Wilmer fixed the unit the same day because he had the parts there. He gave me what I believe is a fair price and because of how professional, competent, and patient he was, I signed up for the annual service plan too. Also will help me keep an eye on these tenants. -_-
What I especially appreciated was that Wilmer took photos every step of the way during his testing and fixing so that everything he did and saw was documented. In the price quote, he included all of these photos so I was able to see all of this before even making a repair decision. Fantastic. It was extremely helpful for me since I have tenants and so I could hold them accountable for their dirty filters. He also gave some helpful tips for filters - write the date on the filter so you know when you swapped it and set a calendar reminder to change it every 30-60 days. He also let me know that I'd need a coil cleaning down the line, but it could wait for now considering my budget concerns.
The AC unit is now functioning beautifully and I feel a lot better now knowing that Wilmer will be back twice in the next year to make sure it stays that way. It's so rare to find a business owner like this who is professional, competent, and reliable. Highly recommend. read more
