I purchased a pair of shorts from here for my partner as a Christmas gift. The shorts did not fit despite being his normal size. I tried to return the shorts after 30 days and they were unable to help me. Not even for a simple exchange for a better fitting size. I understand that I attempted to return them after what the technical return policy allowed, but there was no sense of customer support or understanding. What a waste. Went in and workers were friendly. Found what I thought was the sale rack. I was looking for pants I found online. I Tried them on and went to pay. I asked how much they were and she looks at the tag and tells me what it says. I said oh I got it off the sale rack snd she said there is no sale rack. I didn't want to pay that price so I went home. I knew they had to be the pants so looked them up online and sure enough they were on sale like I thought. And they don't have my size online so I can't order them so if I wanted. Wasted my time. I'm a little too old to be shopping at Tilly's, but I do it anyway because, although their regular prices are kind of high, their sale prices are pretty great, and I can usually find at least a few things that won't look too ridiculous on me. This particular Tilly's has a lot of good merchandise but it's really small and cramped, so if there are other people in the store you're in for a lot of awkward moments as you try to snake around the clothing racks without bumping into anyone. I've always found the staff here to be friendly and helpful, which is kind of unusual for teenager stores like this, especially when you're old (well, "old" relative to their normal 15 year old clientele) and uncool like me. They don't seem to judge, though, and I appreciate that. read more

I will NEVER shop at this location again! I've spent around $400 this past month over a few trips & won't be returning. The employees here are awful & never help you, even when you ask. I walked in recently wanting to spend a sizable amount of money, but wasn't even able to do so because no one would help me. Please note, there were no other customers in the store, the employees just prefer chatting with one another over getting shoes or opening fitting rooms or checking you out- basically doing their job. Another annoying feature of this location is that the credit card machine NEVER works. I've been there at least three times in the past couple weeks & every time the credit card machine was down. A sales associate even told me that a woman had to come into the store & use cash to buy a couple gift cards so that she could complete her order online. That seems insanely ridiculous to me- a store chain as large as Tilly's should have a functioning credit card machine- hell you can download an app for credit cards to your iPhone, so it shouldn't be that difficult. Going with the ever-broken credit card machine is that they can never (or at least say that they can't) enter your phone number with your purchase. I've spent hundreds of dollars, but haven't earned any rewards because "the machine is down". I've made sure to ask every time I've been at the register, but it's only worked once. Don't tell me that I will receive rewards for every dollar I spend if your machine never works! Also, don't ever try to return anything because they won't let you. During a recent trip I had spent over $300 on items, and because I waited over 20 minutes for a fitting room in an empty store, I figured that I could just try things on at home. I confirmed that I could return if necessary & left. Once home, I decided that I didn't need a couple items & went back to the store. The sales associate actually accused me of wearing the clothes (tags still on & one item I had never even taken out of the bag!) I was beyond pissed because I honestly had only tried them on & had NEVER worn these items (who wears clothes with tags??). Not to mention that the employee belittled me, insulted me, and honestly made me tear up because I have never been attacked like that! I've worked in customer service my whole life & would never behave like that. I have a strong sense of personal efficacy & believe that we should be conscientious of which retailers deserve our hard earned money, and Tilly's on 2nd Street is definitely not one of them! If you are sick of having to beg for service only to be treated poorly, then AVOID THIS LOCATION!! read more

Just came home from holiday shopping. Last place I went was Tilly's. A young woman smiled and welcomed me into the store. Her name was Sierra, and she was extraordinary! I had gone in to buy two shirts for a couple of my nephews, and she helped me pick them out. They are gorgeous, well made items. I thanked Sierra, and said that I wanted to browse a bit. Five minutes later, she asked me how I was doing. We started to talk about the holidays, and she helped me scratch off four more folks on my shopping list! They are going to LOVE the stuff I bought them. Saved me time and money. But the most impressive thing about any store I patronize is the individual employees. Sierra was happy, exuberant in helping me, and lifted my spirits. I am extremely picky about where I spend money. When I have found out that a store doesn't treat employees well, or disregards helping our planet, or when employees are mandated to sell, sell, sell, I don't go there anymore, nor do I shop online. But when I love a retail store, I spend a good deal of money, and am a very loyal customer. Way to go, Tilly's! I've never had anything but great experiences at your store. It must be that you treat employees well, because they are always cheerful and fun. Tilly's is also very well organized, although the staff doesn't seem to be doing busy work. Normally I like Tillys, its one of my favorite places to shop on Second. However, last Sunday I went in to buy a new purse because I love all of their purses! I've carried the purse twice and haven't even had it an entire week yet and its already ripping. I called to ask them if I could come in and replace it and the girl who answered said not without a receipt. I can't remember if I got a receipt or if I maybe threw it away but the fact that the purse lasted LESS THAN A WEEK is a total turn off. What a waste of money. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store is chock full of cool clothing items. Definitely hipster themed. I was looking for a cool shirt for my wife and everything they had was way too "young" for her. However, I did purchase a pair of Ugg boots from them and am very happy. I've shopped here a number of times in the past and the experience wasn't memorable but today I was greeted and helped by an employee named Niko (I hope I'm spelling his name right). He was friendly and gave me a lot of good advice. He pointed out some of the good deals going on in the store and helped me find what I was looking for. I'm very happy with the items I got and the price I paid for them. When I asked about jackets he said that there wasn't a large selection in the store at the moment but that in another month they would have a broader selection to choose from. Instead of trying to push more products on me he was very honest. I'll definitely be going back to this store more religiously because of this good experience. Absolutely rude!! Nosa is the manager and he was the RUDEST guy I've ever encountered in customer service!! I had in my Tilly's account a 50% voucher and he REFUSED to honor it. He even made my wife and I feel stupid and kept saying it was a scam and we are stupid to fall for it. I called customer service because I thought hmm maybe hes right but it's weird because it is ON MY TILLY'S ACCOUNT (which is THEIR WEBSITE) not just an email mind you. Customer service said that the coupon was valid and he has to honor it. I go back in show them my tillys account with the 50% instead of email and they still refused!! They said that the customer service rep needs to call the store and verify... So the guy calls and he's STILL REFUSING. Telling my wife that the customer service number is wrong. If you google it, it is the same number I was calling but he was like nah it's a 949 number. I don't ever remember a customer service not being a 800 number. So he keeps looking at my phone and being stubborn but finally conceded. After the matter he didn't apologize for the trouble. He just applied the discount and said here you go. My boyfriend lives off of 2nd street so I often walk around with him. On multiple occasions, I've had to stop in here to make a quick purchase. Once was for a spontaneous trip over to the beach in which I needed to buy a bathing suit. They had nothing. Not one bathing suit. At a Tillys that's located a block away from the beach...I was so disappointed. Another visit, it was a little unexpectedly chilly outside and I needed a light jacket. Again, not one. I understand it's not one of Tilly's bigger locations, but come on! I went across the street to The Outlet and both times, they had something for me. The worst customer service I have ever experienced, as a store manager myself it was appalling. There were 2 ladies at the cash wrap talking up a storm. (tall brunette with dark lipstick and then lady that wrong me up employee #71959 or 76930) too busy to acknowledge a store full of potential buyers. I seriously was thinking of jumping in to provide these consumers great customer service. There was a lady literally jumping to grab a skirt, then a fixture that fell on one lady, another lady with hands full of items. On the men's side there was a couple wondering how to get the hats down from the wall. To believe this is happening during the busiest time of the year. And no one is being helped is very disturbing. I ordered two necklaces from this store and one came back BROKEN which I was very upset about and another came back in an entire ball in which I had to spend 45 minutes trying to untangle it.
