Rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly. Samosa was the best I have had --any layers of flavor. Garlic cheese naan was delicious but even the plain naan was soft and tasty. This shrimp curry was easily a 4.2 out of 5. The curry sauce was rich, creamy, and full of warm spices, with a smooth texture that paired really well with the shrimp. The shrimp added a nice seafood flavor to the dish and soaked up the curry nicely. The basmati rice was fluffy and light, which was perfect for balancing out the heavier, creamy sauce. The garlic naan was probably one of my favorite parts. It was soft and chewy with a slight crispness and char around the edges, then finished with plenty of garlic, butter, and herbs. Dipping the naan into that shrimp curry sauce was definitely the move! I would've liked a few more shrimp throughout the curry and maybe a little extra kick from the seasoning, but overall this was a really enjoyable, filling meal that I'd order again. The Paneer Tikka Pizza was delicious but a little on the spicier side. It had a real Indian taste to it and would definitely go back to try other varieties. The restroom area is a little old and the door got shut and didn't open easily from inside. They need to fix the little things as those matter. Decided to check this place out after someone raved about the food here. They recommended the tikka masala fries and the biryani bowl with the garlic naan. I got the biryani. I also got an Indian beverage Cola. The restaurant was really clean and there is a self service machine to place your orders. The crew were really nice and answered my random questions I had about products. The food had the perfect spice and came with some sauces that I didn't really try. This local quickie Indian food chain does a consistently solid job on takeout and dine in at the Desert Ridge Marketplace location. A girlfriend and I had a lovely patio meal on a quiet weekday, and I finally took some photos and committed to writing a nice review. Truth be told, this is at least my third visit so it's due. Friendly counter guy was patient and answered our many questions. I chose my favorite standard order, the chicken tikka masala with rice. After getting more details about the preparation I decided to try the mango side salad, too. I could not have been happier with my choices. The Tikka masala has a lovely ratio of meat to curry sauce and was a mild spice. Very creamy with tender chicken fully hot all the way through. The basmati rice is fluffy and seasoned perfectly the compliment the masala. The surprise star of this meal was the side mango salad! Tons of fresh spring mix lettuce, chunks of mango, shredded carrots and a delightful sweet dressing. It was very bright, with perfectly ripened fruit and crisp greens. This is not a small side salad, so it is definitely a high value bargain, and could easily be a meal with a protein added. GF ordered a paneer wrap with fries. She raved about the flavor, took two bites more bites of the wrap and then picked at the fries and confessed it was all going home for her son. GLP1 appetite? Anyway she ended up ordering a mango side salad for him to go, after we finished eating. I did taste a chunk of the paneer at her urging, the cheese was in small cubes, with a flavorful sauce. I prefer chicken myself. When the to go mango salad was ready, friendly counter guy brought it out to our patio table, and had a nice chat with us. Went to Tikka Shack for their Tuesday special. Let me start off by saying the value for this place is great. At least on a Tuesday when you can get your choice of chicken, tikka or butter tikka plus rice and a drink and plain naan for around 12 bucks. They were not that busy when we came in around 4 PM. But it still took them over 20 minutes to get us our food Togo. You order from a screen - although the team is right there to answer any questions. They didn't greet me and were not friendly. They seem to be pretty standoffish and definitely not trained in a Customer Service. We tried both the butter, chicken and the tikka chicken. And got one regular naan and paid $1 extra extra try the garlic naan. I absolutely love garlic. And And would never pay the dollar extra again for the garlic naan it was not very good and not worth the up charge The butter chicken was surprising and ended up being my favorite over the regular tikka chicken. We also tried the masala fries (the fries themselves are slightly spicy but when you put the masala sauce on them, it tones it down) , which were incredible!!! And the coconut curry wings. It would've been nice to be warned that the coconut curry wings are extremely spicy. It did not mention that anywhere, and I was not expecting to have that level of heat. Also got the glub juman for desert. Don't sleep on this. It is so good!!! I should mention that for their drink selection, soda, wise they only have one of those Coke freestyle machines which I find disgusting (once you see what they look like on the inside and how they're never cleaned you would agree too) . I opted for one of the three teas that they had instead in a separate fountain thing. Solid 3.5. The Tuesday special for $12 was a great deal for a meal and a drink. The butter chicken (sorry, masala) and tikka masala could definitely have used more flavor and spices. I felt like I would have gotten more spices in a Trader Joe's meal. The samosa chaat was passable. I'm used to samosa chaat being a samosa broken open and topped with tomatoes, onions, sauces, etc. The one here was a big glop of toppings that completely hid the teeny tiny piece of samosa underneath that was hard to find. If you love a warm mix of chickpeas, onions and tomatoes then get this, but if you're looking for samosa flavors then just order the plain samosas. Several years ago, I attended a Yelp Elite Event at Tikka Shack Indian Grub in Houston. When I moved to Phoenix about a year ago, I was excited to find out that Tikka Shack is also in the Valley. And better yet, in my neighborhood. Located in Desert Ridge Marketplace, Tikka Shack is a fast casual Indian restaurant. Parking won't be an issue. It's a popular entertainment district, but there are plenty of free parking spots. I stopped by on a Friday evening for a late dinner. Ambiance (3.5/5): Tikka Shack is a relatively small restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. There are 10 or so tables and booths. The restaurant is clean and in line with your typical fast casual restaurant. Service (3/5): Service isn't a big part of the experience, but to the extent it is, pretty standard stuff. They checked in on us once and that was about it. Drinks (4.5/5): First off, Tikka Shack has a nice Indian beer selection which you don't find very often. And that's just the start. They also have a self-service beer wall consisting of Arizona craft beers and popular beers (think Dos Equis). You get a card at the counter and then you can pour your own beers. You pay based on the total quantity you pour. I've only been to one other restaurant/bar with a self-service beer wall and this was my first one in Phoenix. There are 12 or so beers to choose from. Pretty awesome! Food (3/5): The menu consists of mostly popular Indian dishes (curry, chicken tikka masala, etc.) and Indian fusion dishes (Indian pizza, Indian tacos). Plus, some American dishes like wings. While I would almost always order Indian food at an Indian restaurant, I had an out-of-body experience and happened to order some lemon pepper wings. To my surprise, they were quite good. The wings were nicely fried and seasoned. To make up for it, I also ordered some naan. I love Indian bread, of many different varieties, with butter naan being my go-to. This was hands-down some of the worst, if not the worst, naan I've ever had. It tasted more like pita bread. This was pretty disappointing since Indian bread is almost always amazing anywhere you go. Pro tip: If you join their email list/text program, you'll get periodic deals. They offer a wide variety of Indian classics along with some creative twists like pizza and wings with an Indian flair. I went with a tikka masala curry bowl (ordered spicy, though I could have gone hotter), a kabob grill bowl for later, and couldn't resist trying the spicy tikka masala naan taco. The taco was flavorful and unique--something I'd definitely order again while dining in. The kabob bowl was a solid meal with your choice of protein, rice, and a small mango salad. We love Tikka Shack and order from them all the time. We always get the Tikka Masala with Shrimp or Chicken, Garlic Naan, and a Naan Quesadilla for my son. This time we ordered all of that but also decided to try one of their Naan Pizzas. We went with the Paneer Makhani Pizza. Since it comes with spicy malai sauce we decided to have them leave off the hot peppers. The pizza comes with the sauce, sliced paneer, mozzarella, tomatoes, and methi leaves. It was good. The sauce had a little spice to it but wasn't bad so next time I would have them leave on the hot peppers. I liked the seasoning on the paneer and the Naan as the pizza crust was great. I would have liked a little more sauce on the pizza. We will definitely order this again or try one of their other Naan pizzas. read more

As a desi person myself, I was skeptical and have high standards but this is actually delicious! The pizza smelled amazing the moment I saw it and it tasted very very good. My wife and I returned to visit the Tika shack. Period as we visited it before and loved the food. Once again, we love the food. But the service was absolutely terrible. As they now have a kiosk, we sat and watched two girls giggle and laugh and the two people on the grill, laughing and joking and we spent five maybe 10 minutes trying to figure out the kiosk. They were literally 5 feet from us, but never asked us if they could help us. Whenever I am yearning for some Indian food near Paradise Valley or North Scottsdale I stop by the Tikka Shack at the Desert Ridge Shopping Center. On my last visit, I enjoyed their samosas with mint sauce and tamarind chutney. My wife had chicken tikka masala with a side of garlic naan which we shared. The restaurant itself is a small shop in the middle of the shopping center that is best suited for a quick relief meal spot while shopping -so not necessarily date night ambience. Nonetheless it is clean and has several tables, good for smallish groups or a family of 4. One final tip don't sleep on the mango lassi. It's a delicious fruit, flavored yogurt drink. It's perfect for calming down your excited taste glands if you're not used to the slight kick of indian spices. If you're used to eating Indian food you already know what I'm talking about...their mango lassi is delicious. The prices are reasonable and comparable to other take out spots in the same shopping center. The chicken tikka flavor was very tomatoey and lacked flavor. The chicken 65 was spicy and the lady came over to check on us and I told her it was too spicy for me and she offered me something else since I couldn't eat it. I am so sick and tired of being taken advantage of. $40+ for Tiki Masala and Southern Masala, both with chicken and nan. It is so expensive to add anything that we had to go minimum. And the amount of chicken we received was less than a breast in each dish. So stingy. We won't be back. Why are you people allowing this in your lives!?!? Cute Indian styled-restaurant. It does appear to be chain, and as it is well located, I decided to try it out. Staff is friendly and they explained how things work: pick a curry, pick a protein and voila. Add somosa or naan for extra! I did just that and was a bit disappointed. First of all it seemed that vegetables were not cooked all the way and some of the ingredients typically found in saag were not there. Lastly I would say - price is an issue. Time to for some Indian food! The spice smell was divine. We decided on Korma masala with added chicken, chole masala and garlic naan bread. We got it to go but thought we'd taste test some before leaving. Staff brought our packaged meals to the table. Nice! I tasted my korma which comes with cauliflower and carrots as well as rice. Chicken was added on to the meal. The chole (garbanzo beans) were in a nice tomato sauce. We didn't realize it came with a load of onions which my husband doesn't like. He tried eating around the onions but every spoonful produced onions. It is also a spicy meal, I decided to cover up the meal and see if I couldn't get a replacement.
