My family and I love coming to tiki docks. We live in the area and actually haven't tried it until recently. Number one , this place is huge. It has a beautiful waterfall in the front outside and so much outdoor seating and a tiki bar. Tiki bar may be my favorite part ( when we don't have the kids ). The food is absolutely delicious! They make great fruity tiki drinks too. I had a pineapple BLT and OMG , I wish it was bigger because I ate it in probably two bites! I think literally all of the drinks are good. I haven't had a bad one yet. My favorite is the rum punch or painkiller. So all in all this a great family restaurant but can also be a great date night spot with awesome food and drinks! We had a great time at this unique spot in Riverview on the Alafia River. We arrived around 7:30. The massive parking lot was packed but we found parking easily. We ventured upstairs, put our name on the waiting list and headed to the outdoor bar for a drink. They have one inside and one outside. After a brief wait, we were seated outside on the patio. It was a chilly night but they had lots of heaters. We were served by Meer and he gets a full 5 stars. He was attentive, friendly, and offered up some great food suggestions for our part of 4. The food received mixed reviews. The couple we were with a regulars and they had their usual- coconut shrimp and chicken tenders. Both looked decent enough but not much pizzaz. My husband had a grouper sandwich. The crinkle fries were yummy. The sandwich was meh. Soggy bun, not much seasoning. Tried to fix it up with some tarter sauce which he said was awful. I had the crab cakes appetizer. I will admit, I'm a crab cake snob. After after reading the reviews I was expecting alot of filler. Folks, these crab cakes were the bomb! Meer suggested I get them spicy (on the side). The little side was this spicy pepper sauce that was a cross between a salsa and a jam. It was mostly spice but when combined with the mango on top it was more sweet and jam like. I'm a purist and usually poo-poo anything that isn't a traditional eastern shore old bay cake. But these little gems were bursting with so many complex flavors. I give them a 5 too. We will definitely be back because they were out of the banana bread ice cream sandwiches! My husband and I went here yesterday for an early lunch on Mother's Day. My husband has been trying to get me to come here for quite a while; but I wasn't sure if it would be worth the drive from the eastern part of Brandon. It definitely was! We shared several appetizers, which included a dozen raw oysters, the seared Ahi tuna, shrimp cocktail (huge shrimp), mini crab cakes, and a salad. The food was delicious. We each got a watermelon margarita which tasted amazing and were generous pours . We will definitely be back to try the entrees and handhelds. They have an extensive selection of drinks, appetizers, entrees and the prices are extremely reasonable. However, I did not try any of the entrees so I can't speak on those. This was my first time and it was a good choice for a girls lunch. We ate on the patio as the weather was ideal. I brought a hat, but didn't need it as we had complete shade, but the cars from HWY 301 plus the volume of the music (before the live acoustic guitar/singer) seemed a bit much to talk over even though there were just 3 of us at a small square table. The louder canned music may have been at a louder volume to try to drown out the road noise. Our server was ok. Friendly, but not particularly attentive. It wasn't a problem as we had a lot to chat about. I ordered the crab cake, which was surprisingly large, the size of the hoagie roll. It comes with a salsa sauce. I selected the original rather than spicy and it was a lovely combination of items and the mango in it was wonderful with the crab cake. The fries were crinkled rather than hand cut, but were well prepared. Hot, crisp on the outside, just a bit of salt and creamy on the inside. I don't often eat French fries, but truly enjoyed many more of them than I would typically eat. The biggest detractor wasn't the loud canned music or the road noise, but the pesky bees that kept hovering barely above our food and around our mouths and ears. I don't know if perhaps ingredients in our selections were attracting them, but it was frustrating and annoying. I often don't like eating outside because of flies, and this felt more threatening. However, I do expect to return for lunch again. Not sure if I'd just eat indoors, as it seemed rather dark and like a big food hall. It is my first time In this place I spent $195.00. They charge me more than they supposed to. Every time I asked for a drink I had to ask for lime and napkins . After a few rounds I had to keep asking for napkins and lime. At the end there were two tabs open between me and my friend they charged almost everything to my tab. It was supposed to be split between both tabs. But instead they charged my friend $49.00 and I paid $195.00. So when we closed the tab I gave $5.00 and he gave $10.00. I paid the $200.00 tab with out asking. And after a few minutes another bar tender ask my friend as of why I gave $5.00? Are you for real? Am I obligated to give tip? And even worst, she was not the bartender that served me. This is the worst experience ever in a bar/restaurant. The food is not worth the price. I ordered the island chopped salad online and added grilled chicken. Got home with the food and I had a big plate of ice burg lettuce with a few sliced radishes, a few sliced cucumber and a few pieces of Avocado. The mango was barely noticed had no cheese. There was nothing chopped about this chopped salad. I had to cut the lettuce smaller and the grilled chicken (which was $5 more) I had to cut into pieces and was a very small serving of chicken. We had a great time when we went to Tiki Docks River Bar & Grill. The scenery by the water if you sit on the back deck is so beautiful and peaceful. I've been here twice so far and both times the food was just so so. On the other hand though the drinks are very tasty and strong. My favorite drink they have is the piña colada. I came to this restaurant from a friend recommendation and there was a group of nine. The experience wasn't that great the first time because the servers were not that great. They were super busy on a Friday around 6 pm. We barely had the chance to order our drinks for happy hour. The drinks were not the best. I had their rum something. For food I had their wings and didn't really enjoy them. But the potato swirl was really good. The second time I came on a Monday but didn't need a reservation, we sat outside and the sever was really nice. She kept coming back and making sure you didn't need anything. I got there chicken tenders coconut flavor and the potato swirls but the potatoes We're not cooked good this time and the tenders were OK. Something I just like about this place is that there are spiders everywhere and it's not very clean like they have webs everywhere and I don't understand how they don't think it's uncomfortable when there are spiders that could go down on the food and the chairs which did happen in the last two times. Okay the vibe here is very chill. It's HUGE. Interestingly enough they do not serve alcoholic drinks in tikis (they came in plastic glasses) the drinks average 10-12$ it seems. We had ordered a crab cake sandwich. Definitely different then I thought, it wasn't a Maryland style crab cake or even fried. Wasn't bad just different from what I would have imagined. I wouldn't order it again. The fries were good. Was hot. Got the banana bread ice cream sand which based off reviews and it was a 2/5 I wouldn't order again. Service was alright. The place is very unique in architecture, situated on the banks of the Alafia River and has ample outside dining areas with live music. The inside has a tower of TV's in the center of a huge bar showing various sports events. The waiters are friendly and energetic. The menu is a very inviting selection of appetizers, seafood, tacos, ribs and lots of exotic frozen drinks. We had a full rack of baby back ribs w/fries and fried rice with shrimps and a 1/2 doz oysters that came with a wasabi like paste, oyster sauce and small tabaco bottled. I decided to go again to the docks since I had a such a great time last time I was there. This was a very different experience. The wigs were still solid, but the customer service and salad were eh. Sat at the bar and basically had to flag down our bartender every time I needed something, she forgot we asked for water until I asked again twenty minutes later; she seemed more interested talking to the gentleman across from us. Decided to order a Caesar salad and got this! Iceberg lettuce with barely some sprinkles of queso fresco and wontons. I would call this just some sort identity crisis salad with Caesar dressing; it just didn't work and for the price it was just confusing and tasteless. Never had a Caesar with iceberg lettuce and queso fresco?! Waited another fifteen minutes to get another bartender to notice me and let her know I didn't wants nor liked the salad, she was able to get our bartender attention and at least was taken off the bill. Well I will say that the food is good here but the service is terrible. The waitress tells us she will be right back with our eating utensils and the food comes and we still have nothing to eat with but our hands and the guy who dropped off the food came back and gave us our utensils we asked for refills on our drinks and the waitress never came back to fill our cups back up.... Asked again for it and she just came back with the check and no drink... I will love to come back and deal with someone who will actually take care of us instead of ignore our table as we didn't exist now to think about it I won't recommend this place until they have a better staff read more
