I used to go to this location years ago and stopped going to any Tijuana Flats due to their poor food quality. After many years, we decided to give it another try and it was a let down. The price of the meal does not even provide a good bite. We ordered a chicken salad, double stack cheesy chicken tacos, flautas and the churro bites. From all the entrees, the salad was good and the churro bites, both fresh, tasty and made to order. As for all others, sadly the quality and freshness was not there. The shells on the taco soft, the flour tortilla not even warmed up or cooked, the flautas had no filling and the chips were not as crunchy and fresh. The staff was friendly and attentive, but the restaurant looked and felt that it needed to be more clean. I don't think we will be back. read more

I frequently come in on Tuesdays for their taco deals and lately I've been taking advantage of the Hungry Hour deal they have on Friday and Saturday from 2:30-4:30. I've also used the curbside pick up for dinner on the run. Teachers always get a 10% discount with a valid ID. I love the hard shell tacos since they're made with gluten free corn taco shells plus I get it made my way with black beans and no tomatoes. Lots of chips come with the order and the hot sauce bar provides loads of dipping choices. This location has lots of outdoor seating and plenty of parking. I came here to place a to-go order and there was no line but also no one there to help me for at least a minute. The person that finally came out then took my order but didn't know what she was doing as if she was never taught, so she got help. For how dead it was in there, it took them a very long time to bring me my food. Upon getting back to my place, I realized the side chips that come with the main tacos I ordered weren't there. So they forgot to include that as part of the already overpriced in my opinion order. Newly remodeled and looking vibrant, this spot is great! Tijuana flats is one of those super family friendly places that kids love. My kids love checking out the hot sauce bar! My local Flats has failed me this evening. My meal was ordered for curbside; I arrived on time in fact I was early . I order from this location probably once every other week. . When I got my food home it was swimming in grease (picture of what we wiped off one of the entrees ). I called the manager who was very apologetic . He said he would make it again and throw in desert . My husband picked up the order that was already bagged when he arrived . There were guests ordering without masks (the sign on the front says you need to be wearing one ). When we got the new meals home mine was STILL wrong . I ordered no rice, power lite . This is actually my first time at Tijuana flats, but my friends and I frequent the plaza where it is constructed. I really wanted to give this place a 3.5, but the boxes wouldn't allow me to do so. The food wasn't bad, but it was very Americanized. I was really looking forward to some great homemade guacamole and it was very average. I felt like the food that we had was all very average. I would definitely eat here again because it's conveniently located for me, but I prefer more authentic Hispanic cuisine. The flautas are my absolute favorite here! On our last visit this past Saturday I saw they had a new item, Philly Cheesesteak flautas. I decided to try them. They were pretty good. I think the ground beef flautas are still my favorite. Hubby usually gets the megajuana chimichanga, also with ground beef. Service at this location is fast and friendly in our experience. Prices are fairly reasonable, so this is a good place to go for lunch or dinner. They also have the standard tacos and burritos. So disappointed! We love Tijuana Flats and have enjoyed other locations for years. We recently moved to this area and stopped in for takeout. We only live a mile or so away and could not believe everything was cold when we got home. And the amount of meat, cheese and other ingredients on our tacos and quesadilla was not worth the price. We are either ordering online or here once a week for dos taco Tuesday. Today we sat on the patio which has a nice additional patio with umbrellas. The chips are so addicting - crunchy and seasoned well. I usually get two chicken and fill up fast with the chips. The tacos come loaded with shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and fresh jalapeños. Many different hot sauces to choose from the hot sauce bar including a fave called Jason's mom sauce. I had the beef nachos and what a surprise. They are huge. My only complaint is that I placed the order online because I only 30 minutes for lunch. It was easy to order online except for the part to leave additional notes/special notes. It only lets you type in 10-12 words. I wanted all topping/sides jalapeño, sour cream on the side. There is no way to tell them that. Please try to fix that. The order was ready on time and food was great but I still had to ask for topping because I removed them all on the order but the special didn't help. So revisiting the Apopka location after it finally opened after being closed a few days after Hurricane Irma. The location was up and running and the service was quick and efficient. The floor mat at the entrance apparently still needed vacuuming. However, overall, the location was clean and tidy. The food was great as usual. I had the Tijuana Trio and the Beef Nachos. The Beef Nachos looked visually appealing as it was a huge serving of fresh crispy tortillas topped with beef, lots of cheese, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and creamy guacamole. What a shame. Tijuana Flats has always been a good experience for me until today. I picked up an order that I placed online. I went to the designated take-out register. The employee "Joe" was on the phone with a customer as I approached the register. He was being completely rude to that caller, then another call came in and flipped out (clearly, he has a lack of customer service skills). I love that you can place an order online! I love that you can choose your pickup time! I do not love walking in at my designated pick up time and being told that they're assembling my order now because they wait until you arrive to make sure it's fresh. ‍This defeats the whole point of designating a pick up time.... When I arrived, another woman was waiting for her 1 to go taco. She had already been waiting 10 minutes and was beginning to get agitated. Meanwhile, 2 of the girl employees had enough free time to stand behind the registers and discuss the merits of country music vs. beachy country music as Garth Brooks played from the speakers. The woman asked one of the girls about her taco, because she was now going to be late to an appointment. The girl first told her they were boxing the taco up for her now. 5 more minutes go by and the woman asks for a refund and is told that there are only 3 people on the line and she would have to wait. (They were not visibly busy in the restaurant at all.) The girl who helped her was rude as all get out. She even basically dropped the bag in her hand, turned, and sashayed away with plenty of attitude when the taco was finally done‍. She didn't apologize or show any empathy. She literally said nothing to the customer. Meanwhile, 15 minutes after my designated pick up time, my taco kit was finally ready. Mind you, this is a kit... nothing is preassembled, basically just put the ingredients into the designated spaces of a large to go container‍. My personal service was not stellar... but the service I watched a fellow patron receive for 1 taco was abhorent. This isn't my "home" TF, but it's still Tijuana Flats! One thing I like about franchise-type venues is that you pretty much know what to expect ... same menu, same recipe, same specials. Personally I like that! This is a cute venue, but very "compact" to say the least. Lunch can be kind of insane due to the volume of patrons and lack of space, but other than that ... No complaints! Well maybe one, but it's across the board at all the TFs I have been to - TF use to serve a pretty good Sangria but the one they serve now is crappy and while they do serve Mike's Hard Lemonades, the price is ridiculous. Not being a beer drinker (which by the way my hubby swears is the coldest in town and cheap too) I'll stick with the tea. Bummer though; Sangria and Mexican food is the perfect match! I love the atmosphere, music, funky murals and ceiling tiles, as well as the HotBar and seasoned chips with queso. Yum! The guac is nothing to write home about, but the sauces are the bomb! Lastly ... My kids love TF and the kids menu items. The past few visits here haven't been the best, but every now and then I get the craving so I come back. But my last visit tonight was finally enough to not only make me never want to go back to this location again.. but the food was so bad, I'll never go to any location again. Sometimes you have that one experience that ruins everything for you. That was tonight. I made an online order so I could pick it up fast and get home, I was starving and was in no mood to wait. So I got there to pick up my order, and the manager informed me their online system was down, and just like it was no big deal let me know he would have to ring me up now, and I'd have to wait.. really? There is no system out in place to let me know about this? I had made a huge order, so remembering all that I had ordered was difficult, and I forgot a few things. For the inconvenience I figured I'd get a free drink or something while I waited... but nope.. I was just a normal customer to them. The manager (who I ordered with) couldn't care less. I work in the service industry so this pissed me off bad. When I got home I was happy to finally eat... until I started eating... my tacos were cold, the chicken was dry. I got quesadillas as well which were cold, with a dried out tortilla, dry chicken and almost no cheese. Then the quest for my chips and quest tasted weird like it never has before.... now maybe you'll just assume in the drive home they got cold or dried out.. I live 3 minutes from there.. the quality of food was just horrible. So you mix horrible food with horrible service, you're dead to me. Tijuana Flats will never be an option for me or any of my friends to eat at again after tonight based on pure principal after the service alone. If you go to chipotle to pick up a to go order and they've been busy with no time to make it, they will at least give you a free drink, sometimes even free chips if not the whole meal for free. I got food to go there on Monday, all seemed well mine was fried.. all my other coworkers were fine. I had only eaten there and a English muffin plain for breakfast. I was so sick... I had diarrhea for two days went home from work on Tuesday after being up all night. It was so bad I had a terrible headache from dehydration and I have eaten at the one in wintergarden many times same choice! I'm afraid to eat here again. I have been to Tijuana Flats several times, mostly during lunch rush. But my last recent trip felt more relaxed on a Friday night, despite a long line. Maybe it's the festive lights that adds to the atmosphere. After waiting about 10 minutes in line, once up to order, had no trouble finding what I wanted, but thought I would add a dessert this time, and the girl helping me could tell I had trouble making my decision on my "chocolate chip dough" dessert thingy. She highly recommended it, that put me at ease and offered to bring it out a little later which was nice. When our food was ready a different server called out my name a few times in the adjacent room. It was noisy and he couldn't hear me and didn't seem to realize I could possibly be in the other room (or even outside) and he looked confused. That was only hiccup, but food was great as always, and my dessert was worth it and had enough left for a late night snack. It is indeed a fun and interesting place, and it could definitely impress an out of towner. (Your guest will be looking at the paintings, walls, and stickers for a long time.) I've been to TF a handful of times in the past few years. Honestly the sauce is what brings me back. There's really nothing like it, and it's fun how they rotate some of the brands. I am condiment crazy and they really give me a fix with that sauce bar. If the sauce bar didn't exist, I wouldn't go back. There is too much real Mexican food to be had elsewhere. Sorry. I always get the deep fried chicken flautas (with sour cream, guac, olives, plus more), they truly are my favorite thing there. I find the other dishes to be a little boring (for example, if I am going to eat tacos, I'd rather have very fresh and natural ones from Chipotle). For me, TF is an occasional guilty pleasure, a flauta-licious fried food stop, with a dash of 10 different hot sauces. This is a great place to chill out, have a beer, eat a taco and burn your taste buds until your heart's content. Wild and wacky decor - kind of like a bad acid trip infused with hot sauce atmosphere. There is usually some good music playing on the sound system with a laid back vibe. The staff is super nice and the food is very tasty. While I was there, a staffer was walking around asking patrons how their food was and I overheard one customer say that her meal was not that good. Staffer apologized and the manager was at the table post haste. Turns out a new food ingredient was being used for one of the entrees and it was affecting the usual taste. The manager comped their meal offered up another entree for free and apologized for the experience. Then he thanked the patrons for being honest so that the appropriate actions could be taken to correct the menu item. To see service like that this day and age really impressed me. I had the two beef tacos crunchy, all the way with chips and salsa and it was freaking delicious. Each taco was about 6-7 inches long and they both tasted fresh and authentic.
