I almost feel bad that most of these reviews here call big taco like Tijuana flats little sibling, because if you read the story on their website it's not quite that. It's more that the original owners of Tijuana flats wanted a chance to get back to the essence of what they started prior to the sale of the company. I'm here for the level of sass I read in that bio from their website. There were 3 employees that we interacted with and all of them were friendly and attentive. They even offered free donut hole dessert, but I paid because I didn't want to seem like k was taking advantage of their niceness. The donut holes were a highlight! Do not leave without trying them. The menu is fresh, and the food was better than my last 4 Tijuana flats experiences so for me there is no comparison. The chicken is shredded and seasoned, not just grilled and I loved that. It feels more grown up inside and it felt clean, fresh and well maintained. If I had one small piece that wasn't my favorite it was the hot sauces. Look, I'm not asking for the whole hot sauce bar, but I didn't like any of the ones I had. I was looking for more heat less sweet. I will for sure be back! read more

This reminded me of Tijuana Flats, and then I was told it's owned by the same. However, it had a more extensive menu and the service was more attentive. The taco Tuesday deal is pretty good. Two tacos with chips and a drink. I just wish they gave you some salsa with it. There's a sauce bar but it's several different hot sauces. The queso crunch tacos with ground beef had lots of flavor, and the queso in between was used for my chips instead. The little sibling to Tijuana Flats (T-flats), Big Taco left a favorable impression for me after only one visit. Why? Good service by friendly and helpful employees, tasty and (dare I say) tender steak, and a clean store. The day of my first visit was fittingly Taco Tuesday (TT). Otherwise known as deal day. My first impression when walking in was the clean and bright setting. Tables and chairs seemed plenty and strategically set up in sections. Limited outdoor seating is also available. I chose the TT special of two tacos, fully loaded, with steak for an extra $1, chips and a drink since it was affordable for me. Eating with 3 co-workers, we sat at the tables with plenty of space and napkins at the table. I always need extra napkins with tacos! Our orders arrived and I was immediately delighted by the taste of the steak. Maybe marinated and definitely not tough, the steak was the star. The chips seemed to be the same as T-flats. No salsa bar here but two hot sauce bottles - one vinegar based and one sweet chili - sat on each table. Employees stopped by at intervals to check on our need for beverage refills. Again, we appreciated their friendliness. While I could see the connection to T-flats, Big Taco stands on its own in my opinion. read more

This was our first time to Big Taco. We went after seeing a review on TikTok and checking the Yelp reviews. It was an awesome experience from start to finish! When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly young lady who asked if it was our first time in, which is was. She let us know she'd be happy to answer any questions, and offered a couple of the customer favorites, then offered a couple of her own favorites. We ordered chips and queso, queso crunch tacos, Phat Sammy Chimichanga, and the Lil Gorditos. The service was outstanding and the food arrived quickly. Everything tased very fresh and delicious! The chips were so plentiful we took some home, and everything else was very generous serving sizes. There's even a wall of various hot sauces in bottles to take to your table and try. And the Lil Gorditos...WOW! Melt in your mouth warm donut holes with cinnamon and a warm glaze that pooled in the tray for sopping up more with each bite. These things alone are worth the trip!! It you're tight on time, you'll be in and out fast enough to get where you need to go. But, if you want to take your time and casually dine, it's perfect for that too. We picked up to-go today and it was very disappointing. Not only did they give us a cup with a hole in it that leaked soda all over my husband and our car, but the food left much to be desired. The queso crunch tacos were solid, but the kicken chicken tacos had no kick at all. They were dry & not very flavorful. Also, we paid $3.99 to add rice and beans but they came in little condiment cups. I have never seen a "side" come in such tiny portions. We came in on Cinco de Mayo after hearing some good reviews. There was a DJ which was fun. Everything was bright and clean. You pick up a menu by the door and order at the counter. Ordering was easy and you can read it in the screen. Prices are nice for a family our size. Any time we can get an appatizer, drinks, meals, and a tip for under $100 is a huge win. Chips and Queso got to the table almost as soon as we sat down. Everything was yummy, and staff was incredibly attentive. We decided to stop by Big Taco on Friday the 27th of June. The yellow and black vibe was immediate from the moment you walked in. The posters/photos on the walls were definitely fun. Staff greeted us almost immediately and asked if we had questions/let us know they were there if we had any. This place is incredibly reminiscent - food wise - of Tijuana Flats (I believe the owner or the owners family owns Big Taco). All of the seating is directly in the middle and broken up by walls. It's not horrible but makes it feel a little cramped. Food was easy to order - prices were very similar to TF. I liked the kids meal and the way that was set up - my kids loved it. I had basic double stacked tacos. They were fine. Nothing wow worthy. My husband had the Cajun chicken street tacos. The flavor was good. Their white queso was decent, we spent about $42 for all of the food in the photos. Again, very reminiscent of TF. It wasn't my favorite but it's not horrible. If you're expecting Tijuna Flats 2.0 you'll be in for a surprise. This is Tex mex at its tastiest and very convenient. I sampled the steak burrito. The steak is marinated in a citrus blend that is absolutely fantastic. The size of the burrito is plentiful and stuffed. The chicken quesadilla was good. Nothing really spectacular about it but I would try it again. The beef taco was soooo good. I would definitely order it again, the chips and Queso were the only thing I wasn't really wowed about and probably wouldn't order again. Great staff and a cool location. Very clean and perfectly spaced out. Parking is a drag but plenty is available, you just may not be able to park directly in front. Be nice to the staff. So glad this spot is just up the road! As soon as I found out that Big Taco was being brought to us by the sons of one of the original owners of Tijuana Flats, I was so excited. When I finally got to try them out yesterday I was not disappointed. It is everything that one would hope to find in a local tex-mex spot. We started out our meal with some chips and guac - which was stellar. I am not a fan of spicy things, so this was perfect for me. Had just the right amount of flavor. I may have eaten the leftover chips and guac later last night for a snack :) I love that they have a "pick 2" option! I was able to get a taco and an enchilada, plus the rice and beans are a nice option. Everything was top-notch and full of flavor. Right now they only have canned beer, but they have a great selection! I was happy to find one of my favorite beers on hand to enjoy with my meal. read more

It's pretty good, they offer better ingredients and more variety ingredients compared to the other place. I was a little disappointed with my slightly stale taco but the ingredients inside were fresh and plenty. If there were any sweet chili sauce, I probably would add this to my taco! We were very impressed with what was supplied for the price. Everything was well packaged for pick up. We had our choice of protein, chips & dip, and types of tacos. This new restaurant is from the family that started Tijuana Flats. I went for lunch and ordered the Queso Crunch tacos. Hardshell tacos covered with a soft tortilla and a layer of queso. I ordered them with steak. I received 2 pretty big tacos. I didn't finish the second because i got too full. I shared some chips and queso with my friend. The queso was pretty tasty and a generous portion. They have a fairly large menu with a lot to choose from--tacos, burritos, bowls, etc. Everything came out pretty fast and fresh. The employees were very friendly and attentive. They came to the tables and checked on us a few times and refilled drinks. The restaurant is very clean and had some fun decor. Well, we had heard about this place lately and we decided to try it out. It's a bit out of the way for us, but not too bad. You first walk in and employees are there, one gentleman opened the door for us, we were quickly greeted by a woman who gave us the rundown on everything and went over the menu real quick. It's pretty straightforward, tacos, burritos, chili, nachos. A true blend of Tex-mex, nothing boring, but both too extreme that it seems like they try too hard. I went with the queso crunch tacos, hard tacos with cheese and wrapped in a soft taco. Well, when they say it's large, they mean it. Two large tacos, everything was fantastic. Not greasy, not really messy, just a good, well made meal. We will definitely be back. I was enjoying my food so much, I forgot to ask my wife how her tostada salad was, I know, very rude. But by the time I looked over, it was almost finished. So, yes, everything was great, the employees were very nice and helpful. It's a very clean, hip, new looking place. Decor is super fun and unique! I like how they split up the room to make each area a little more intimate! Service was great and quick service! It very much is its own smaller version of Tijuana Flats, which makes sense. We ordered the taco salad in a hard shell that also came with chips and the street tacos. One pork and one steak! The pork was absolutely delicious and the seasoning was spot on with the pineapples. The steak one was tasty, but a bit of a miss as I thought when I was ordering steak it would be diced up, but seemed more minced or shaved. It was still good, but the pork was much better. Chips are a bit more seasoned than Tflats, but the pricing was good and we will def come back another time. Also, no taco Tuesdays specials, which was a bit of a bummer since it's a taco shop! Big Taco was a Yelp recommend in my email. I was very pleased. Restaurant was clean & simply decorated. Tostada salad was really good, fresh & they were very generous with the ingredients. This is no cupcake, but a true meal with extras included like olives & jalapeños, plus your choice of a topping like salsa or ranch, etc. Their menu is nicely varied. Service was excellent.
