    Veggie Quesadilla
    Lisa K.

Some friends and I stopped in on a weeknight. We were greeted cheerfully and seated quickly by our hostess. The inside decor is bright and festive. This is a great place for large groups. They have a vegetarian section of the menu and I ordered the veggie quesadilla. I love that they used a variety of vegetables (broccoli, onions, peppers, zucchini) and they were cooked perfectly without being too mushy or making the tortilla too soft. Each wedge stayed crispy and held together well in a buttery, toasted pocket of deliciousness. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. Great food and great service-you can't ask for much more.

Had another fabulous lunch with a group of friends. The service was fast and friendly, she treated us like family. I was amazed at the size of a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup. Love coming here for our monthly reunion.

A bit of a hidden gem in a strip center in Longwood off 17/92. The restaurant is bigger than it appears from outside and decorated nicely. We arrived around 2 pm for a late lunch and were promptly greeted and seated at a spacious table for four. Our server took our drink orders and brought out chips and salsa. They also have a spicier salsa so don't forget to request it if you enjoy a bit of heat. Both are tasty. My mom and I both had the steak fajitas and Dad and Johnny the California Burrito. My fajitas were tender and well seasoned with carmelized onions and bell peppers. Both Dad and Johnny enjoyed their burritos but the flour tortilla wasgrilled a bit long making it hard to bite through and requiring a knife to cut. But reported them flavorful. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean as we're the bathrooms.

Another great dinner at Rookies. A long time staple Mexican restaurant for Longwood. We enjoyed a Rookies bowl, vegetarian burrito and a beef quesadilla. All very good!! Great service with wait staff all working together. Rookies is a well decorated Mexican restaurant. A very clean restaurant is always a pleasure to see. Enjoy the photos below.

Longwood-I've had this spot on my to do list for awhile. We felt like trying a new spot and this filled the bill for Mex food cravings. The host and waitress were both very kind and friendly. The place looks a little deserted when you first walk in. I was a little bit concerned but we decided to have a seat and check it out. Our drinks were REALLY good and had plenty of alcohol. I had the Cantarito and Hubby had a skinny margarita. I highly recommend the Cantarito. They have 4 different "dip" flavors. ****Suggestion #1-make a sampler platter for ALL 4 dips.**** I was not interested in trying the chorizo dip, but my husband was. I was more interested in the other three, but did not want to order another one. A sampler plate so people could taste all four would be perfect. He said the chorizo dip was delicious!! It was too spicy for me. Chips and salsa were delicious too. Not spicy at all. We tried the Corn Esquites. It was awful. Way over salted, and super watery. They needed to use fresh off the cob corn. Not frozen corn. (I inquired what kind of corn they use.) First entree was Pork fajitas. The dish was great! A LOT of meat instead of a lot of veggies. This was perfect. Definitely the way fajitas should be served. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of veggies, but the meat definitely outweighed the vegetables. That is normally not the case when you go to a Mexican restaurant. Husband could've used a couple of more tortillas, but that was not a big deal. Second entree was the Enmoladas. The mole sauce was spectacular! ****Suggestion #2-Do NOT boil your chicken for the enchiladas. It makes for watery, tasteless chicken.**** Other than the watery chicken in the enchiladas, the dish was pretty good. I loved the guacamole, pico, and sour cream accompaniments. Beans and rice were good, not other worldly, but good. I would not recommend this dish because of the watery and tasteless chicken inside of the enchiladas. It really could've been so much better. Overall, I think this place deserves a second visit. I'm super interested in their beef dip, and some of their other items on the menu. HUGE MENU!

Service was a little slow despite the restaurant not looking terribly busy. Everything did come out as it was supposed to though. Ambiance was casual and quiet for a Saturday night. Food was pretty good, though I feel like it's pretty standard tex-mex fare. Nothing stands out or shines through, but the fajitas were exactly what you'd expect. Overall a fine experience, would go back if invited, but not a place I would seek out on my own.

Staff was extremely nice and accommodating! Food was great too, I only wish the shredded cheese for the fajitas was a Mexican cheese not the American version of Mexican. Queso was good and mild spice. Carnitas was moist and flavorful. The kids Mac n cheese was great! And the fries were plump and fried perfectly. Sweet tea was good too. Overall great. The only complaint from my friend whom is 100% Mexican, said the beans wasn't good. But I liked it but I'm Italian. Bill $120 for 4 adults and two kids. Each of us had a meal and 2 of us had a drink. The kids split a Mac n cheese, fries and had a drink each.

My last review was 7 years ago, so it's time for an update! The decor is super cute and you're always greeted with a smile. They offer complimentary chips and salsa but make sure to ask for their rookies sauce (it's free). I love how they ask you how you'd like your steak cooked for the fajitas and I NEED TO KNOW what cheese they put in their quesadillas because I've never had anything like it and it's so delicious. This place is easy to miss, but it's been around forever. It's on the corner of 17/92 and 434 in a shopping plaza. They have weekly specials and offer a military discount.

    Cali burrito

Great spot for delicious, generous Mexican food. We ordered the birria tacos, Cali burrito, and pastor tacos & everything was flavorful and very good. Portions were big and worth the price. The margaritas were excellent too. Good service, tasty food, and a solid overall experience. Will definitely be back.

Service was great! Clean place! We order queso and chips. I ordered Chicken wings with barbecue chipotle sauce. My husband had a burrito bowl. Everything was great!!

Rookies Cantina they serve some killer frozen margaritas. You better bring it with you. I must advise you that because you'll walk out feeling little tipsy and very happy and mellow. I highly recommend the food. Very good service.

Another fantastic visit to Rookies! We came in for a work lunch and had a lovely experience. Our waitress was wonderful and the service was fast. The restaurant was clean and beautiful. For appetizers, we got the ceviche, queso, and guacamole. The ceviche was delicious and not too citrusy. The guac was creamy and fresh. The queso was salty and rich. For my entree, I got the premium chimichanga with shredded beef. The portion is giant. The beef is so tender and packed with flavor. The beans and rice and perfect and the chimichanga was expertly fried. We absolutely love Rookies.

Steak fajitas we ate off of napkins because servers gave no plates and disappeared

It's also served with rice, beans, guac, lettuce, and tortillas on the side. Ask for their homemade hot sauces if you like more spice (yes, they are HOT). It's plenty of food to share with lots of leftovers to take home. Well worth the $35 since we get multiple meals out of it. First thing when you walk in this restaurant smells very clean. Not overpowering but the reassuring smell that they take food safety seriously. They are located in a Publix shopping plaza and have booths, tables and a bar with stools. I sat in a booth and came specifically for lunch because Amanda, another Yelper, had called out the deals. I was really impressed with their salsa. Usually I want queso but this had such a fresh taste and to me had an old school chunky texture you rarely find. I ate way too many of the complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the lunch ribeye and the lunch chicken fajitas. The fajitas came out in the traditional sizzling presentation. They tasted as good as they looked with all the fixings. The steak was for later. A lot of time a thin lunch steak does not come out to a medium rare. This was spot on and the steak was juicy and tender. A really good steak! Both meals came with tortillas that maybe were homemade? The server greeted me and took my order right away. I had asked for some modifications and I thought it was nice she repeated them back to me so the kitchen would get it right. My bill was presented and quickly processed on a handheld device. Overall the ambiance of this restaurant is a neighborhood family place. I appreciated that they offer extremely neat bathrooms and a selfie wall for celebrations.
