As a fun side fact, Tijuana Flats got its start here in the Orlando, Florida area when Brian Wheeler opened the first location in Winter Park, Florida. Tijuana has since grown considerably. While most of their locations are here in the Sunshine State (Florida), they are also in North Carolina, Indiana and Virginia, as well. My go-to items at Tijuana Flats are either a burrito or a bowl. Both are definitely good and are items that I would recommend. I also like their hot sauce bar. It is great to try several different hot sauces. Tijuana Flats has an overall cool ambiance and vibe. The service here was also relatively friendly and both of these factors enhanced the experience here at this Tijuana Flats locations. Placed a pick up order for carnitas burrito. The restaurant was a good size pretty quiet, they had TVs with sports on and a salsa bar which was more like different types of hot sauces to choose from. The staff seemed friendly wasn't really greeted when I walked in or while at the sauce bar. The burrito was a decent size that I was able to share it with my 10 year old, but it lacked flavor it was very bland tasting. You received a bag tortilla chips with your meal they were good would be good with a side of pico or salsa. Just felt more TexMex to me than anything. So...first of all, when you read the reviews on this TF make sure you read the most recent ones because for some reason the dates of the reviews are not chronological. For the first time in many years we did not go to our favorite Mexican place, Garabaldi's, for Cinco de Mayo. We chose, instead, to order online from Tijuana Flats. It was closer and we thought it might be faster. We've never been more wrong. I placed my online order at 5:19 pm for 6 pm pickup. Now I figured they might be busy but I got there a little early because I was in the area already. So at 5:42 I walked in the door. There were people standing on one side that were there to place orders. The other side of the room was for people there to pick up orders they had placed online. I was in a good mood. Had not been here in a while and was excited to try their new menu item, Chicken Tinga. The servers/order takers kept coming out of the kitchen with bags of food calling out names. About one out of every eight were actually there to pick up their food. When no one answered they would take the food and put it on a shelf. This would reoccur about every 15 minutes. Now I expected a wait. However, at 6:15 my order on the TF App said "Order Completed" so I expected to hear my name any time. At 8:00 I finally walked out with my order after I went to the front and asked someone to make sure there even WAS an order with my name on it. The Manager, Kyle, at first was bringing out orders and talking to people. After I was there about 45 minutes I noticed that he went in the back and didn't want to be seen. I even witnessed him telling the employees to go out and tell everyone they were working on everyone's order. I was amazed to see a "manager" behave in this manner. I also witnessed at least 10 people physically go up and ask for a refund since it was taking hours to receive their orders. As mentioned, I expected busy. I expected a wait. But THIS was EPIC incompetence. It was a disaster. This manager should be 'removed'. I heard him speaking to customers and making every excuse in the book with never even an apology. Ordered through Uber eats By the way don't do Uber eats! So anyways Uber could not find a driver so I decided instead of canceling the order to pick it up myself. When I walked in I didn't get greeted. Even though a server walked right past me. Somebody came out the kitchen and saw me just standing there. I asked him if he could help me, I told him I placed an order. He said "let me take a look". The server who walked past me just put my order on the shelf. Server definitely had an attitude! I asked if everything was there in the server with the attitude said " yeah I double checked ". Everything was not there! I was missing a whole meal!!!! When I called the manager the manager knew exactly what meal was missing, because it was there at the restaurant. The manager was super nice, however manager told me my account would be refunded as well as free dessert. So the rest of the night I didn't bother dealing with it because I was already upset about the missing food. Anyways a week later Uber eats we not refunded me and Tijuana Flats said that a week it's too long for them to record what was missing!!! Update: I received an email from Tijuana Flats in regards to this review and they were very apologetic about what had happen when really the review was more about Uber Eats dropping the ball completely and flat out refusing my refund. This location just opened and they mean business! I have always enjoyed Tijuana Flats and was excited to see they opened a location closer to me. Stopped in on their second day of operation and was surprised at the professionalism from the new staff under the chaos of the crowds. They moved the line very quickly and took care of every guest ( to include the elderly who couldn't deal with the line). Very professional. I ordered my usual pick dos, chicken quesadilla and a taco and was not disappointed. Very fresh and tasty. Perfect amount of toppings and cheese. Coming back for sure! This location is much larger than some other locations and can host lots of people and large groups. There is also nice outdoor seating. Very happy with my overall experience. In this area and stopped here for lunch on a rainy day. The staff was extremely pleasant and friendly as well as helpful as there were two adults and I had my two grandchildren with us. The food we ordered came out quickly and was perfect. The atmosphere was great for adults and kids. The prices were very reasonable there were a lot of for what you wanted to eat whether it was several appetizers or an entrée or just salad or sandwich I will definitely be back. We ordered the chips with three types of dips and all of them were delicious the kids enjoyed them as well as we did. Love taco tuesdays and I've been to most of the Tijuana Flats in the Orlando area. They are all very consistent, but some are more crowded than others. This location was great, with good seating both inside and out. The only complaint I have on Tijuana's is there music is too loud. I love Tijuana Flats for its GREAT food, service and laid back comfy atmosphere! I go there there on Tuesday and Thursdays at LUNCH time for their specials and they never disappoint. Even my 10 year old (who is a selective eater) has grown to love the food because they're always willing to customized his meal just the way he likes it. If you go there at DINNER(especially on their specials nights) they will be crazy busy. They will either tell me ahead of time of the wait time or I will take it upon myself to ask them. If it is longer then 20 minutes, my family and I will go elsewhere. No big deal...they have great food & great deals so the wait will be longer. To my pleasant surprise, if I do stay, it is always FASTER then their estimated wait time. It's a great company so my family and I are here to support them while they work out the wait time kinks while enjoying their super service and food! Finally, Tijuana Flats has come to Apopka (and I mean real Apopka, not that part that is basically Altamonte Springs). This kind of restaurant has been sorely needed in a place where the opportunity seems endless, but the options are not. I've always been a fan of Tijuana Flats, and this location is really great. Outdoor seating is rather large, indoor seating is ample as well. Service was fast even with the very long lines, and the staff was very friendly. They would stop by every so often and refill drinks, offer up to go boxes, all things that are a nice touch in a fast casual environment like this. The inside of the restaurant was quite colorful, as is typical with the Flats. Lots of specials going on right now with the Grand Opening, so coupons are floating around on social media for free tacos. Those Atom Bombs they are doing for appetizers are spicy and flavorful, you should get some of those before they go off the menu. Picked up a blacked chicken salad. It was a great through because it fits in the keto diet. However the portions on meat are extremely low. 4oz is their standard size. I paid to have it doubled meat- little did I know that I could have gotten more cheese also well, I wasn't upsold at all from the girl at the counter. Great place and wonderful food. My fiancé and I love this place. Everything is made fresh to order and great prices as well. The service is great too and haven't had any issues at all. Friendly service, great food and sports is always on the flat screen tv that they have. You're able to inside and even outside and enjoy the little view while you eat your food. My husband went to pick it up and was there for over one hour and they still did not have the food ready. He tried talking to several staff members. None seemed to care.
