    New sign 'tiger Bowl'
    Steve L.

I was looking for Hapoy Chef and lit is now closed and a new take out place called Tiger Bowl. It's around the corner from Tiger Tea so very possible they are related. There was a big sign advertising Orange Chicken with fried rice and chow mein. The menu also was on another window. Looks to be a set number of options for take out. Opening on 8-10-26 according to another sign.

Mushroom chicken bowl with chow mein and fried rice.

Came here for lunch and tried their mushroom chicken bowl. It came with noodles and fried rice. Didn't taste that much. Filling for my lunch meal. The whole restaurant revamp to this new ambiance and name. Service was fast and sufficient. I think the chef needs to work on seasoning. Portion size is good though.

Very good food, affordable yet delicious and generous amount of servings

I believe they have another section for larger groups, but I havent been to that side. The food itself is very good. I am not much of a breakfast person, but I was satisfied with my Sweet Croffle and my boyfriend enjoyed his Spicy Crispy Chicken. My cousin wasn't too impressed with the salad, so I would recommend trying something aside from salads if you are looking for flavorful items. The star of the show for me is a Mango Passion Fruit drink. It is so delicious! My boyfriend and I have to pace ourselves from chugging the entire thing before the food arrives. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for a nice brunch. I wish they stayed open later, but I will definitely return to try more of the menu.

You can tell they get very busy on weekends and they don't take weekend reservations. We got there around 10:30, and it did take a few minutes to get seated since we had a group of 5. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum scramble, but if I ordered it again, I'd ask for it without cheese since I didn't think the cheese really added anything to it. (I feel weird saying that since I love cheese!) The croissant that came with it was good. My friends liked the pancakes, the chicken croffle, and the udon. I got the house coffee which was fine, but folks seemed to enjoy the ube lattes (though said they were a little sweet). Service was very nice. I do think even with them being busy, I didn't get the sense they were trying to push us out the door when we were done. This is a cute place, lots of close tables though so not where I'd go for a quiet conversation.

They have a lot of the same dishes you see at American 'Chinese' restaurants but it was cooked and spiced so well as to put it in a completely different category. I visited on a Friday night with my older parents. We were seated after just a few minutes, and the hostess was very courteous with updates. The coconut chicken soup was amazing, very creamy! Rainbow chicken was also very savory. I'd highly recommend the House Special Noodle. Noodles seemed to melt in your mouth, for lack of a better phrase. Just delicious. The staff and even the customers really went above and beyond in terms of courtesy and politeness, too. My mom had recently had a major surgery that required her to use a walker. Everyone was very helpful and kind.

Check your bill carefully before adding a tip…read more We were a party of three having a regular lunch, and gratuity was automatically added to our bill. No one mentioned it to us. I have absolutely no issue with tipping. What I have an issue with is quietly adding gratuity to a three-person lunch bill without clearly telling the customer. Had I not carefully reviewed the bill, it would have been very easy to add another tip on top of the gratuity already charged. What makes this even stranger is that I have dined here with my husband before and this never happened. This time, without him, gratuity was added automatically. I don't know why we were treated differently, and I won't speculate about the reason--but the inconsistency made me extremely uncomfortable. If automatic gratuity for a party of three is Mingalaba's standard policy, it should be clearly disclosed and consistently applied. If it isn't, then I think customers deserve an explanation for why it was added to our bill. Ladies, especially--check your bill before you tip.

Most of the seafood and skewers hit the mark, with just one miss on the veggies. The Highlights: Abalone in Shell with vermicelli (5/5): Fresh, tender, and perfectly prepared. Scallops in Shell with Vermicelli (5/5): Fantastic flavor and texture Beef Tongue Curry: Rich, comforting, and a huge hit with the kids. The tongue was cooked just right. Skewers & Sides: Abalone Skewers (4/5): slightl larger pieces than the ones served in the shell, tasty and well-charred. Shrimp Skewers (4/5): Well-seasoned and cooked properly without drying out. Corn Skewers (3/5): A bit of a letdown. Heavily over-seasoned to the point where the natural sweetness of the corn was completely lost. Definitely worth a visit for the seafood and curry--we'll be back, but will likely skip the corn next time.

I would skip the duck breast as it was kind of dry and not as flavorful as the other options they have. Price is borderline on still being somewhat reasonable but can add up quick if you have a big appetite. Decor made the ambiance nice. Service was fine. Food may be a little slow to come out depending on how busy they are. There is street parking but may be hard to get a spot during dinner time.

Both locations were very good, the San Jose one had a bigger menu though (both food and drinks) and it gave free soft serve in mini cones for dessert! Tai Er is known for their Signature Sauerkraut fish, crispy pork strips, crispy chicken wings so we definitely ordered those. We also ordered a kid meal for our two toddlers to share since it's a pretty big meal and it was perfect for the two toddlers share this. Overall everything was delicious! The Sauerkraut fish went well with rice. The pork strips also was another great appetizer to order! Super crispy and flavorful!
