First timers to Thai Nakorn! We came into the restaurant at 130pm on a Friday and excited to try out a local spot. Needed dinner ASAP and Thai seemed to be the play. Thai is in the area is a bit tricky because I usually find Thai around here to be expensive and small - and not that tasty either :( Thai Nakorn seemed to have okay enough reviews to try so we ordered it for delivery and waited patiently. The food arrived, and we eagerly dug in. The pad see ewe (chicken) was pretty good - up to standard though a little on the small side for $16 (it's mostly rice noodles right?). The spicy basil Pad Ga Prow (beef) was also pretty good - I though this came with rice but I guess not - that's fine though. Overall, both dishes on the smaller side especially for the price point. Notably, I got mega-food coma after eating the food which was surprising to me bc I didn't eat that much. I'm not sure if it was coincidence, but I only got the food coma after this night (and I even had AYCE hot pot other nights and was fine). I'm gonna say that, for Doordashing Thai needs- Thai Nakorn works but isn't my favorite (I don't have one in the near area unfortunately.) So maybe Thai is the move when in Richmond or Fremont instead. read more

We arrived for an early lunch. Walking into the restaurant at 11:30 a.m., the first thing I noticed was - this place is really clean! I mean, it's really clean unlike some Chinese restaurants in San Francisco that have greasy floors or carpets. The server was soooooo sweet that I had to ask her what her name was so I could address her properly. "My name is Apple." I asked, "green or red?" We soon found out later that her husband Eddy is the cook. Love supporting small businesses. That's my yelp thing. The menu is extensive. We were so indecisive because it was just the two of us, so we asked Apple for some recommendations. We had 3 different proteins...spicy basil chicken, pumpkin curry with shrimp and something new pad woon sen beef. Apple asked, "How spicy?" We said, "spicy!: Apple asks, "Thai spicy or American spicy?" "THAI SPICY!!!" All dishes came out hot off the wok and were absolutely delicious. It really tasted like home cooking. We came here for dinner on a Friday night around 6:30pm and were seated immediately. We shared the fried corn cakes, pad see-ew with pork, and yellow curry. Everything was delicious and pretty standard, no complaints here. I appreciated the friendly and prompt service - our water glasses were always quickly refilled and the staff made sure to check in on us every now and then. This remains a family owned neighborhood Thai restaurant well-loved by many. Their Thai iced tea is like no other. The Catfish Salad (which we order less spicy) is so refreshing. We came here last Saturday night to hanging with friends in the city after the Lafayette Red Wine festival, decided to try this place out. It's a small place, and has only one server in the front, she was able to manage the flow, no complaints. Foods were good, the portions of dishes on the small side. **Fried Tofu were so crispy and delicious, we've finished them quick and reorder another one. -chicken satays are standard, tasty with the dipping sauce. -fried corn cake: my friend highly recommended but it's not my taste. -duck curry were good, but not as good as expected, curry is kind of watery, same as the pumpkin curry we ordered too. I stopped in here about 4 months ago as it was an easy walk from my preflight hotel and took out an order of their pineapple fried rice which was delicious! I was so excited to stay in the same place before I flew out yesterday to have that same dish again -and again it was delicious! And a generous portion with pineapple, cashews, raisins and chicken! I saw dishes going out to a table that also looked wonderful while I waited to pick up my order. We were greeted promptly by a friendly and welcoming server and seated right away, despite the restaurant being fairly busy. She managed the floor exceptionally well and made us feel genuinely taken care of. It had a warm ambiance On our first visit, we ordered the Spicy Basil Pork Belly, Green Curry, and Mango Sticky Rice. It had been quite some time since we had Thai food of this quality--each dish was flavorful, well-balanced, and clearly prepared with care. We returned shortly after and tried the Roasted Duck Fried Rice, Duck Panang Curry, and Chicken Satay, and the experience was even better the second time. Every dish was consistently excellent. My family and I decided on some Thai and wanted to try all the restaurants in our neighborhood. This spot looked very quiet and you can't see inside at all. The moment we walked in, there was only one table of people eating and a huge corner of the restaurant tables and chairs were blocked off. We kind of had a feeling this may not be a great spot but we decided to try it anyways. There was one waitress and she seemed pretty friendly but the food on the other hand is very mediocre. The portions are extremely small for the price you pay and everything tasted watered down or skimped on ingredients. The peanut sauce for the chicken satay was watery and dripped off the chicken immediately. The Tom Yum Koong was not aromatic of lemon grass at all, not very spicy or sour like you'd expect. It just tasted very watered down. The chicken pad Thai barely had a few small pieces of chicken, and lacked flavor. The Seafood curry was probably the only good dish we ordered but the portion was laughable for what you pay(you have to pay extra for rice). Lastly, as my family and I were still eating our meal, the waitress brought out the check and kept coming back to check if we're ready to pay. Had the Som Tum (Papaya Salad), Naem Kow Tod, and the Thai Boat Noodle Soup. The salad was pretty good with very fresh ingredients and a vibrant citrusy sauce. The Naem Kow Tod was also enjoyable as well (listed as a salad, but more like finely minced pork). The Thai Boat Noodle lacked a bit from the true authentic dish, missing thickness from beef blood, crunchy pork skin, and lacking in aromatic notes. The broth was definitely more vinegar tasting than anything else. The restaurant itself is very spacious, albeit quiet earlier on a Friday night. Front of the house and brought the order out quickly. Overall, I think Thai Nakorn is worth a second trip. Would love to try their Tom Yum Soup and perhaps a curry. read more

Let our grandson pick what he wanted to eat before he goes back to school. He chose Thai food so first time for us at Thai Nakorn. It was not busy on a Wednesday at 6:30 dinner. Only two other tables were occupied. Read a couple of reviews that service was bad here but we had good service. The place looks clean. We let grandson order since he likes Thai food. All three dishes were good but the portions are on the small side. We had 3 dishes and 2 bowls of rice for 3 of us. We were comfortable but cleaned every single drop on all 3 dishes. read more

5 for the jolly lady and checking on me after requesting/eating extra spicy papaya salad and pad ga prow. Second time eating here. First time, I had spicy papaya salad and duck curry. From what I remember, it was the spiciest papaya salad I ever had. The duck curry was okay. At least it wasn't salty. This time around after eating many versions of papaya salads, this round was okay. Less fish sauce and more tangy-ish, if I could explain it. The chili heat was adding up from ordering it extra spicy. Overall, 7/10. After eating a lot of different versions, the main difference in all papaya salads will be the inclusion of shrimp paste. The pad ga prow's heat added up too! I would say this dish was not salty, it had a slight sweetness to it towards the end of the chewing? At the same time the slight sweetness hits, the basil hits too? Not really into basil, but I can see/taste where everything blends in. Overall, 7/10 - slight tangy-ness might be a difference Overall, Thai nakorn has a good selection of dishes. Finally able to come back and try this place to give a thorough review. Thai Nakorn is trying to stay in business by inflating their prices and serving small portions. Open for dine in 3pm-8pm (closed Sunday) and they do take credit cards but prefer cash. Do not get the fried corn cakes -- which are supposedly very popular but in reality, they're just a 30second TikTok recipe you can make at home and it'll probably taste better for way less than the $11.95 price tag -- just mix can of corn niblets with flour batter and pan fry... you can pay me $10 and I'll make it even tastier... Pad see ew $12.95 a dish we usually get at most Thai places -- this one was way too sweet with way too much white sugar and not enough complexity with other ingredients. So sweet I couldn't eat it! Fillet panang $18.95 -- I won't nitpick about the fact that this was frozen fish because at least the sauce was good but definitely not worth the price Spicy fried catfish $18.95 -- again the sauce was good but the quality of the catfish was meh, and not a whole lot for the price Total bill was $71.20 rice is $2 per bowl. Service was adequate. Restaurant was pretty empty. A couple of people ordered take out. There's parking in the back if you can't find a space out front. Cleanliness and decor was standard. Overall this was a disappointment because they had a lot of interesting items on the menu. For what we experienced, I can't recommend it. read more

If I could give a restaurant 10 stars for the food, this would be the place. I've been to Thailand many times and struggled to find authentic Thai food until I found this place. They are only open 3-8pm Monday to Saturday. If you come on a weekend night please be prepared to be really patient. It is a very sweet husband and wife team and everything is made from scratch and they just can't make the food quickly if the restaurant is full. I see many of their loyal customers helping them bus the tables on a weekend night to help them out. If you want faster service come on a week night or before 5pm on Friday or Saturday. We came to the restaurant right before closing and ordered the (3.5/5) spicy angel wings and (4.5/5) pad see ew (beef). The spicy angel wings were pretty good, but the meat had a little toughness and wish it was a little more tender. I enjoyed the pad see ew a lot, it had the perfect blend of both savory and sweet, and I personally prefer American broccoli over Chinese broccoli. Simple and homey. I came in at 3 and it was empty but clearly caters to regulars and take out orders. I had the yellow chicken curry of my dreams, steamed rice and cucumber salad. The curry was creamy and full of warm flavorful broth with lots of chicken breast and beautifully steamed carrot and potato. Heat level was mild but rich in spices. The vinegary, slightly sweet dressing on the cucumber salad was absolutely perfect, cutting through the richness of the chicken curry.
